Creative by Design Sydney

We used Creative by Design to design and install a wall bed in January 2023 While we were actually happy with the design and end product, we have a serious issue with the conduct regarding pricing which was nothing short of a complete rip off.

Approaching installation, in December, we were told some electrical work was needed, for which we could use our own electrician or they could arrange for us. We wanted to use our own electrician and were waiting on finalised designs so we could see what was needed and organise the electrical work. This only came through on 22 December. With an install date of early January, this became too tight for our electrician with holidays.

Creative by Design said they could organise with no information was provided on cost. On the 11 of January, a week before install, the invoice for $1880 was provided and required to pay that day. My wife, being less cynical than me, paid immediately, only later realising when looking at the drawing that this literally involved installing a powerpoint one meter from an existing powerpoint using conduit running along to skirting board (see photo).

I immediately challenged this with creative by design, and was pretty much ignored and told its too late to change and this is their standard price. The electrician came, was clearly a subcontractor and was asking us what he needed to do. He took 40 minutes to do the work (see photo) and left. Absolute gouge!

Creative by Design has absolutely ripped us off, pocketing I would guess $1500 for a phone call.

I repeatedly asked to speak to someone about this, I was willing to pay a markup but that is ridiculous. Was Ignored, then fobbed off with the same line about this is their standard pricing. Once they had the cash that was it. Asked multiple times to speak to manager or owner about this with no response.

So while their product was good and also the direct people we dealt with were solid, the ownership / management are super dodgy. If there is any sort dispute, anything goes wrong or have an issue good luck with that. Likewise if there are faults I am sure.

No doubt they will come back with some response they they gave us options and this is their standard pricing, etc, etc, but they pushed us on time, provided the quote at last minute then applied pressure to get paid. Also $1880 to run conduit 1m is laughable (for them), so steer clear and look elsewhere.

Just an update June 2023, we had some sparkies over to do another job, and apparently the power point installed wasn't even earthed. We have kids and this is just down right terrible.

We needed:
1.an integrated door panel for our new dishwasher as the old door couldn’t be removed from the original. Creative by design sourced a new panel.
2.new doors and drawer fronts as they had cracked on our ensuite vanity. These were replaced and our vanity looks brand new.
3. New benchtop to fit replacement sink in our laundry. New handles on doors. Looks fabulous.

Fabulous job done by Andy installer. Beth the designer was also fabulous.
I appreciate them all despite a couple of delays as deliveries of items didn’t occur on dates they were advised. Wade advised us of all delays which were beyond their control.

Creative by Design installed a new office for my law firm in an old study in Sydney. The design and installation were impeccable, including plenty of bench space, wall and floor cupboards, LED strip lighting and a pocket door above the bechtop for bags and electrical items. Highly reccommended.

We recently had the team from Creative by Design install a bespoke TV Unit and a Fitted wardrobe. Both items needed to cater for specific requirements with space and storage and the team delivered,

It was a pleasure to deal with the whole team but the attention to detail from both David the production co-ordinator and Andy the installer ensured we had a top quality product delivered.

From designer Annette's initial consultation for our living room - bookshelf/ entertainment unit, to Andrew's check measure and David's final updated designs - the team has been personable and flawless in their communication and professionalism.
Installer Andy is incredible, he completed the extensive job in record time and with a meticulous eye to detail and craftsmanship. He does the job of at least two people all on his own!
We are very happy with the end result and would highly recommend the team at Creative by Design to anyone looking for a professional design project.

Had a wardrobe and some shelving done. A little pricey but good quality and very professional through all stages from design to installation.

Wonderful quality, great staff. Everyone we've had contact with has been professional and cheerful and the quality of the built-ins we had done is superb. Definitely at the pricey end of the scale but we have used Creative by Design twice now because we know how good the work is.

I am a full time carer for my husband who has dementia. I organised a few hours off so that I could meet with a representative from creative by design to arrange for some wardrobes to be installed. We made an appointment at a time convenient to them.

They failed to appear at all.

I called the organisation and was told they’d had some computer problems which resulted in them losing details of multiple appointments. Really? Did the dog also eat your homework?
They suggested an alternative time which was not suitable, I need to stress - I only have a few hours a week and my valuable time was completely wasted. I was furious. I hope their employees are not receiving job keeper - a pathetic performance!
If this is indicative of their level of service why would I engage them?

We are very happy with our 4 wardrobes.

They are really creative, deliver on time and in quality. From the beginning the team showed professionalism and efficiency. Annette designed the joinery and supported us throughout the entire project. She is just amazing. Ryan did all the installation onsite. I can’t emphasis enough how professional he is and how carefully he treated our new floor and all the other things. I was really impressed with the professionalism and attention to detail made by the Creative By Design team. They were tasked with building a unique installation of a pantry and home office all in one for our small unit in Eastlakes.

I was really impressed with the vision of the designer (Beth) as she captured everything we had hoped for to really maximise the storage solution need we had. The installation was seamless and even the pre work completed by an electrician they had recommended was completed effectively.

Had come cabinetry done in my living area. Stephen was great at understanding what I needed and my requirements. Drafted something that looked good with good design principles.

My experience with Creative by Design was awesome! Right from the start the team displayed professionalism and efficiency. Annette who designed the joinery was exceptional and very accommodating as I made changes to the initial design. She was excellent at staying in contact and updating the design as I made changes. Once we agreed on the design, a contract was signed and the project rolled out. I received regular information, made part payments as each stage of building the joinery progressed. Andy, who installed the joinery was brilliant. I absolutely love the finished product and can only congratulate the whole team at Creative by Design. Thank you so much.

Creative by Design was the only true wardrobe and cabinetry designer we could find. Beth was fantastic at interpreting our vision and adding her own ideas. Wide choice of materials including all the high end accessories you would expect. They also did a day bed for us. High quality finishes. Great attention to detail. Installed on date booked. Great experience all around.
