Loved it. We would have liked to stay longer. Unfortunately, time did not permit. There is an abundance of wildlife. We just loved sitting back and watching. There are some lovely bush walks in the area

Great spot to spend the night. Flat, grassed unpowered camp sites with some powered sites also available higher up on the hill. There is a decent amenities block, picnic tables and free bbqs. Interesting walks along the river and through the bush. The highlight is the serene pool at the bottom of Cranky Rock, which is just a short walk from the car park across the suspension bridge.

This is a "must see"! Don't go past. We visited at around 4.30pm and were amazed at the size of the rock formations. A truly beautiful place.

Great place to relax, enjoy the bush views and those of the incredible formed rock structures and their balancing act.

Oh and what a deep, refreshing pool to swim in - try and touch the bottom!

Free gas BBQ and public toilets, plus powered and unlisted camping spots, though we just went for a day trip.
Flies were pretty bad, though they're pretty bad everywhere right now. Fly net made a difference, as did going for a swim because they didn't follow you!

What a great place to stay. After reading the positive reviews this place matched or exceeded what people have previously said about it. We stayed 7 nights, and it was one of the best experiences on our trip. We really liked the setup of the powered sites. Bush and space behind the site to sit and relax without having other campers on top of you. There are unpowered areas as well that had some nice spots to be away from others and had a nice view of the lovely bush that this area seems to have. The rocks are a short walk from the camp sites across the suspension bridge, and we visited them every afternoon, as the sun setting on the rocks was a lovely way to end the day either from river level or from the viewing platform that provides great views. There is one combined loo and shower with a code to access and also a separate loo for men and women. All well cleaned daily. No sites have water connection nor is there a dump point. But that is not an issue. Dump point is at Warialda a short drive away if staying for a while and needing to empty the cassette. There are non-potable water taps around the place for washing dishes etc. This place is run well by the on-site caretakers, and they are both very friendly and helpful.
There are entertaining resident chooks and a peacock wandering around. We even saw an "Echidna train" one night.
This place was really peaceful, and we found it very easy to relax here. We paid $120 for the 7 nights for a powered site otherwise $20 P/N, and $15 for seniors. Great value in our minds for such a unique setting and the facilities provided. This place is a great spot to day trip to places like Inverell, Bingara and of course Warialda. And great for the dog. There are also fire pits around the place for a nice evening fire if there are no bans in place. So, BYO wood. Would stop here again given the chance. Thanks!

A great little hidden gem! Fabulous scenery a short stroll from camp, large and hot shower and spotless amenities. Powered and unpowered sites at very reasonable rates. For the unpowered sites, better to head left past the office down by the picnic area - puts you a little further away from any barking dogs rather than the unpowered area on the right as you go in. A few km off the highway so you'll rarely hear any traffic. Quite varied bird life in the area too.

Great spot for RnR. Book in was via envelope but this dies not provide code to shower. No body available to ask so had to get it from other campers. Mainly flat sites. Some shaded. Good short walks. Arrived late Saturday and intended to stay 2 nights but left next day. People partially camping on our site and it didn't feel right.

This is one of the best camping areas in Australia we have come across as far. Facilities are very clean and camp host is friendly and helpful. The surrounding Cranky Rock reserve is a very beautiful area with incredible rock formation and fresh water pools. A true hidden treasure!
It is great to see local councils providing facilities for locals and travellers keen to see the beautiful region. Congratulations to the local community and council for its wisdom.

Cranky Rock Reserve Camping area adjoins the public day use area to access the reserve.
This is a small camping ground with a few powered sites plus non powered sites. A couple of toilets and a shower are available. No pottable water on site so make sure you carry enough. The friendly caretaker lights a fire pit for happy hour every night.
The walk to Cranky Rock pool and lookout is short and reasonably easy. The weathered granite formations are interesting and colourful, with the odd boulder precariously sitting on top of rock formations. The view from the lookout is pleasant, as were the walks around the bushland.
Thoroughly enjoyed our time here and well worth the short diversion from Warialda to camp.

This stopover incorporates a caravan park with powered and unpowered sites. Located 3km off the highway, it gives you a chance to take a break and stretch your legs. Not too impressed with the very large boulders but the area is relaxing. Some noxious plants (prickly pear cactus) are starting to creep into the parkland and need to be removed.
