I swim here every Saturday for 2 hours in the highest squads class and it’s great! The coaches are very good and help you to improve your skills. There are many levels of swimming classes from ages 0-99. The staff are all well trained and friendly. There are two pools, one small, learn to swim pool and a larger, 5 lane, 25 metre pool. Both pools are heated. There are classes every day of the week and aside from swimming, there is a gym and squash courts in the same building. The parking lot is big, but can often get a bit jammed up with cars as it’s quite narrow, but there are always parking spots down the bottom. There are bathrooms and change rooms for both males and females and there are showers too. The staff at the front desk are very kind and easy to talk to, when arranging payment and classes.

Overall, I’m giving it 5 stars because it’s a great community and small, but welcoming fitness centre.

I would not suggest this place to anyone. My son went for swimming lessons and was yelled at twice by someone higher up than the instructor, This happened multiple times, and my son, who is only 4 years old, was crying. It was a situation that I believe any parent would find distressing. Due to the negative impact on small children's mental well-being, I cannot recommend this place to anyone.

Some good and some bad things about this center.

Good - Staff is quite friendly and helpful. The coach/teachers are good at what they do. They pay close attention to kids, find improvement areas for kids and improve on it. Overall good experience in terms of teaching.

Bad -
This swimming center has no area/lanes to practice after swimming class. We had earlier gone to Granville Swim Centre which has many areas/lanes to practice. But Coulter Swim center does not have it, which results in slowing down the kids progress or forcing them to go somewhere else for extra practice.

Other issue is that the center has recently changed the payment process. Payment at the counter now has hefty surcharge. Online payment also has charges/fess like card fee, data handling fee and so on. There is no way 'online or offline' to just pay the class fees without surcharges. This is ridiculous.
Even if the surcharges are low and not a big financial hit, as a principle, there should be way to pay just fees, without surcharges.

My kids love swimming at Coulter Northmead since the teachers are lovely here. They stress upon the basics. Assessment is continuous and fair, which is also why we like Coulter a lot.
The 3 star (changed to 5 stars since they have improved a lot and my kids love swimming there) rating is attributed to the management (or should say MISMANAGEMENT) since messing up with the bookings of my kids’ classes is common (and am sure I am not alone in this). Even so that the reoccurring session was cancelled without my notice with no other session available.
I feel for the staff letting me know all this since they have no option, but can’t understand why they cancelled the booking in first place.

My son has been attending Coulter's learn to swim program for the past 4 years. They have lovely instructors, great front office staff to assist and are very helpful in case you need to reschedule! Clean and tidy pool with good changing rooms. Great for kids lessons. I reckon this is a 25m pool

All 5 of my children have attended Coulter Swimming Northmead spanning across 19 years now. All my children started classes at Northmead between 6 months to 2 years and continued until squad level. I have had such a wonderful and memorable experience watching my children learn to swim which I believe is a life long skill and so important for children to learn. I have always found the staff and management to be kind and caring, and all instructors to be well trained and skilled in their roles. My kids have always been in safe hands, and I have always found Coulter Swimming Northmead to be safe and supportive environment. I can not recommend Coulter swimming Northmead more highly!

As a concerned parent, I am deeply disappointed and disturbed by the near-drowning incident that occurred during my 4-year-old son's swimming lesson at Coulter Swimming pool, Northmead. The fact that my son was left struggling to keep afloat while his swimming instructor, Olv (anonymised), was oblivious to the situation is unacceptable. My husband had to jump in the pool to rescue my son. This level of neglect is appalling and has left us with serious doubts about the competence and commitment of the swimming school's staff to ensure the safety of their students.

To add insult to injury, when I confronted Olv (anonymised) about her irresponsible behaviour, she gave a flippant response and showed no concern for the gravity of the situation - “I have too many children and had to mind another child”. Furthermore, no one from the swimming school approached us to ensure that our son was okay after the incident, and it was left up to us to go to the reception and speak to the manager. This lack of follow-up and accountability is concerning and has further added to our distress.

I am also dissatisfied with the response we have received following the incident. I received this response via email from them which I still cannot believe it - "Whilst it is clear the instructor has been distracted by the last parent entering their child into the class, she was still in a position to assist your son to the platform. " Furthermore, we have not received any apology for the distressing incident, nor have we received any follow-up from the swimming school to check on our well-being. As parents, we are deeply concerned about the emotional impact that such a traumatic incident can have on our son, as well as ourselves.

We believe that a lack of apology and follow-up only adds to our distress and creates further doubt about the swimming school's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of their students. We expect that, as responsible professionals, the swimming school would take appropriate actions to address the issue and show genuine concern for our family's emotional state.

This is a great place to take your kids to learn to swim. Instructors are very friendly and helpful. Reception staff are also awesome.

One of the best swimming centres. Trainers are good, and they really focus on kids’ training, rather than passing the time without putting any efforts. I have been to SYDNEY Olympic park Aquatic centre, but pulled out my daughter coz of their unsatisfactory performance. Trainers were unprofessional, and had no bonding with toddlers. Their level of approach was not worth it.

This has been a gem of a place. I did the parent and babies (I got in the pool) and now m child has moved on to the next class where I watch from the side. The best review I can give is to say that my child gets so excited every time we go - helps pack the swim bag and takes it off to the car. Staff have been supportive, kind, and knowledgeable. The make-up policy is so helpful, so you can take a holiday outside school holidays and have an extra lesson when they are back (on a day where the class is not full). They also have 2 pools a baby and a big, which is really helpful.

Started this year with Coulter. My son with autism and adhd has learned a lot and is now moving to the next program level after just one school term through the help of his instructor, Luke. Thank you so much, Luke, for being so patient with him, very understanding and knowledgeable.

Excellent facilities with lovely staff. They have 2 pools and they regularly check and maintain the right temperature. The instrtuctors are all very good with full dedication to make the kids comfortable and fun in pool. A big shout out to "Eleanore" who have been just so lovely and amazing and shown patience with my daughter Amyrah who has all the tantrums in the world. I am lucky to have Eleanore as her instructor although its hard to get her slot, but the perseverence she has shown to make my daughter learn swimming is really appreciated. Thank you Coulter Swimming for a happy and safe environment for the kids.

Very good. I have been sending my 8 year old son there for only 5 or 6 lessons and I can see a big improvement. Instructors are very polite and professional. Hopefully by summer he will be excellent

I booked four private lessons during the school holidays, I missed one as I read the time wrong in the confirmation email (was on the same day but different week) coulter ended up re-scheduling for me even though it was not their fault. I also had something come up last minute so needed to cancel a lesson and called the day before and they were happy to refund.
My son also really enjoyed the classes and said how lovely the two instructors he had were

The teachers are fantastic. The management are very accommodating. When my son decided to just cry throughout his class, they listened and tried different teachers and time of day to help my 3 yr old settle in well. Lots of space and teacher to student ratio is the best I have even seen
