Continental Deli Bar Bistro

Food was phenomenal, beef tartare so fresh & balanced with unique potato crisps, service was odd and not inclusive with the staff hanging out at the end of the bar having their own conversations with clocked out staff, I would have hoped for more genuine hospo vibes in a place like this.
Some cocktails were inconsistent with different specs and glasswear for different customers.

Everything delicious, the atmosphere is super chill and cozy and it’s a nice bar/restaurant for a date or a dinner with friends. Found it a bit pricey, but all worth it.

Cool spot for lunch with great appetizers and sandwiches. Got the beef tartar which was the highlight.

Great deli with a good selection of everything. There are plenty of great wines by the glass, and the steak tartare was generously garnished with parmesan. Helpful and friendly staff. Would stay here all day if I could!

Excellent experience at Continental Deli. Came here for a date night and everything from the food, drinks, service and atmosphere was amazing.

We were seated at the bar which actually made it even more enjoyable as we chatted to the bartender who made the experience even better explaining drinks, food etc.

I hosted a birthday lunch last Saturday at this firm favourite of ours. The staff were as ever warm, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Food from the set menu as always excellent and we loved the wines chosen. All in a great ambiance. What’s not to love about this place? ! Thank you!

Absolute gem of a place, would definitely return. The only down side would be the price, but you do get what you pay for

Great food, just that little bit different and Newtown quirky, but well worth a visit. Loved their sandwiches, or rolls really, but generous and tasty. Bar is full of atmosphere and outdoor tables are great to sit at and watch the world go by.

Meatball sandwich was disappointing. Bread was soggy; meatballs were the size of tennis balls and dry and bland. One of those meals you feel gross after eating. A shame as my previous two visits at this restaurant were extremely positive experiences.

This was a very nice dining experience. The customer service was on point. Even though we had a booking at the bar, they were very accomodating in organising us a table upstairs in the dining room. Lively buzzing atmosphere with funky tunes playing in the background. We even got to see magic tricks performed by one of the staff members. The steak was my favourite dish of the night and it paired so well with the green beans salad. The scallops were absolutely delicious as well. Even the potatoes had a delicious unique flavour. And this is definitely the place to have a cheese & charcuterie board. You must try the puff pastry pear compote dessert as well.

Continental has easily become one of my favourite restaurants in Sydney. Such a fun and unique concept for a restaurant, and it just works so well. The food is 10/10 - there’s something for everyone. The staff are incredibly good at their jobs and make the experience of dining here much more enjoyable.

I’ve been four times this year, and will continue to return.

A smidgen overpriced, overly strong drinks, and the food hasn't been quite to my taste either. Strong flavours that don't necessarily work well together, but perhaps my palate isn't refined enough. The service is friendly but a little slow. I feel I've ticked a box and a return visit isn't required.

The ‘Mar-tinny’ was spectacular! Anchovies were also great. Quite pricey for the serving size but great quality stuff.

Overpriced, tiny portions and forgetful staff. Spent $180 for two and had just snacks and tinned drinks. Also came here in 2018 with 4 to have the set menu and all left hungry - portions were appropriate for 2 sharing, not 4. Not sure why people rate this place. Won’t be back for a third visit.

Excellent food and good service. Like the chic but casual vibe. Very happy with the beef tartare, black barley and charcuterie board. Would love to see additions of unique wines to pair with the food

Holy smokes the sour dough bread is hot, fresh, and delicious.

The charcuterie plate was great. I was a bit underwhelmed by the meatball sub, but it was super tender and bread was also perfect crunchiness.

Fab night out here at Newtown on 26/08/22. The service was perfect, friendly, fast, ” but not rushed, surroundings are cool. Music was excellent, a little on loud side but contributed to hipness of the place, w as it staff and importantly the cooks are at the top of their game, still smiling about the experience almost a week later. S

It's all a bit average and overpriced. For a measly $100 each you'll get a few drinks, a snack and some non-attentive service. It's a bit of a joke. It doesn't come close to an actual European deli experience. Their saving grace was the steak tartare and vermouth menu. And please, don't serve gildas without the peppers ‍️
