Child Adolescent Psychology Services

Sat on an extended waiting queue. Then when I finally got my child in, apparently the receptionist “forgot” to book subsequent appointments. Psychologist that we’d waited for was apparently “too busy” then and then tried to push my child across to someone else after starting a plan with him. Had to push to even get an extra 2 sessions. Promised they’d contact school for info etc - never happened. Tried to move to subsequent psych and it was like starting again and they weren’t interested in continuing service. Like all parents, all we want is the best for our children. Clearly this was not the way CAPS dealt with us. I spoke with them and was basically told “too bad” and then offered a service out of the area. Lost all faith in the mental health care system after this abhorrent treatment of my son.

The staff are friendly and helpful, and provide a safe environment to discuss mental health, and will remove anyone who prevents this, Jason. I never had an issue with waiting times, or being pushed unnecessary services.

I can highly recommend the team here. They have helped us with family therapy for a while now and we have made good progress. Staff are helpful and friendly and there is easy parking.
