Chatswood Sewing Centre

Very rude and poor customer service. My dear friend is visiting from overseas and is extremely knowledgeable and qualified in Creative Practice (fashion). Even on his holiday he decided he wanted to help with some projects so we came in to this store yesterday afternoon as we needed a zipper and 100% cotton thread, only to be told by a man working there: ‘You know your holding 100% pure cotton’? You deserve every low rating you have after experiencing your service! Good luck. Have the day you deserve!

After being reccomended to get our machine fixed here I'm surprised they are still in business. The repair guy advised us that it was beyond repair and that we should look at a replacement and that he wouldn't even quote how much it was to fix it (The electronics board was broken). We considered this but as the machine was of great sentimental value we wanted to get a second opinion. We visited the shop and was told by the lady that the machine had been completely stripped to diagnose the issue and that it was in parts out the back and not able to be put back together.

We should have insisted on them gathering up the parts but we were quite shocked at their response.

I know know why the guy was insistent that is wasn't worth getting fixed.

I bought a very expensive machine from these people and the customer service is the worst I've ever encountered. I've never had so much attitude from a salesman/business owner. I would never recommend Chatswood sewing center to anyone. Steer clear.

I would like to say big thank you for fixing my embroidery machine! It works as a dream now and used to have so many issues. I'm impressed that the advanced computerised machine was fixed and serviced so professionaly! Thank you! It was rejected to be fixed at another service center, but awesome Chatswood Sewing Center fixed my machine perfectly. Recommend to everyone!

This is a great place for all things sewing machine.good prices and friendly service.they also have lot of bid bods for machines.zippers cotton needels to mention a few things.the owner Shane is a really nice bloke abd he'll look after your needs.

My experience was consistent with all the other 1-star reviews. I recommend going to BERNINA just across the road. They are lovely, helpful and don't try to pressure you into buying things you don't want. Also if you buy a machine from the sewing centre, make sure you ask them their proof of ownership.

Alright so the guy at the counter was snarky, had an abrasive manner with other customers, handed me the eftpos machine rather unprofessionally and was even like “it’s not my fault haha” when my transaction took a while to come through even though I said absolutely nothing. I heard him straight up tell another customer who had a thick accent “I can’t understand you” without so much as a “come again? ” He didn’t make eye contact and generally acted like he didn’t want to be there. Much like, I’m sure, plenty of us in the service and retail industry— only most of us have the good graces not to show it. Normally I would shrug it off, but it looks like he needs to hear another complaint. 2 stars only because this is, unfortunately, the most well stocked and comprehensively equipped sewing shop in the suburb, but I think I’ll slog it to the city next time.

Brought my sewing machine here and Shane stitched it up all better! DO you guys to lessons for children got about 10-15 kids I want to take here.

Had the worst experience here, will never go back again. The man who owns this shop is one of the rudest, most abrasive people I have ever come across! Forget customer service, he has no social skills whatsoever. He put me down (a customer) twice, for no reason. Then, when I acted assertively - he insulted me, did power play, made me look like an idiot - and when I was at the point of tears, insisted that he did nothing wrong. The other worker was laughing in the background.

Fantastic customer service! The Chatswood Sewing Centre helped me with my overlocker and I couldn't be more grateful.

I would never go back. I took my machine for a quote and after describing the problem I was told what it was and was told a price, and if it was more they called me. When I was called the price was almost double, despite the issue being the same, and when I said I'd pass on getting it fixed they gave my machine back to me in pieces so I can't even reassemble it and take it elsewhere. I also found them to be quite rude in my distress and I wouldn't recommend this place to any of my sewing groups.

I was staggered to be charged $150 to simply have a 3 pin plug replaced on my Elna machine. Even with the inclusion of a full service I think this is an outrageous rip=off!

I happy to discover this shop! I found all the little bits & pieces I needed for my sewing job here, the owner was helpful & friendly.
I found out they run a lot of sewing classes, it's great to know as I hadn't heard of any others in Sydney.

Excellent customer service. Highly recommended. The staff took their time to explain which sewing machine was best for my daughter who is doing textiles at school.

I cannot thank Shane enough for going the extra mile, on many occasions, re problems with my Pfaff Passport. He persevered! Problem solved. I will not buy or take my machines anywhere else and have been buying my machines and getting them serviced there over many years. Worth the drive from Hawks Nest. Staff always warm and friendly too. I’ve read the few poor reviews written over many months and years and can not fathom why as the countless times I’ve visited, the staff have always been courteous. Thanks again Shane, well done!
