I brought a PlayStation 4 from them and it scratch the hell out my games and does not work over heat

Sold me computer with a sporadic fault. Refused to help further or refund within 5 days of purchase. Unhelpful and verging on rude staff.

Checking out some second hand IT gear. Problem is they have so much on offer it is too hard to choose what to get. So I get some details of what they have and research some more then go back a get my refined choice.

A preface that this review is just for this store. Parramatta, Mt Druitt and Hornsby are well serviced in my opinion.

I bought two Xbox series S controllers and the console for CEX Hornsby yesterday. However, when pressing the up button, the analog stick didn't work. I decided to go to the Blacktown store to exchange it for something of the same quality (I at least expected it to be clean). Instead, they ended up giving me a controller that looked liked was owned by a small sticky kids or a bricklayer who didn't wash their hands.

I then asked for a refund because the controller looked unsatisfactory. They told me that they could only give me in store credit. Which is wrong according to their website and the ACCC. Nonetheless the back of the controller is not an original part, off-white colour and missing the Xbox logo subsequently completely devaluing my trade in.

The staff were relatively helpful although one was especially arrogant. I do understand that this is a company that expects scams, though, I don't appreciate them denying my consumer rights and will escalate this further.

Very inappropriate music playing, I understand rap music, but not whilst young children are in store

Too many items available brand new in other stores for much lower prices. Better prices on some discontinued items than Salvos.

Edit: Forgot to keep in mind their dedicated pricing team that decide prices based on various factors like demand, supply, and current market trends (Aka current highest unsold Ebay listings) when they are for example: charging $30 over RRP for a plain coloured Xbox controller which is overstocked and heavily discounted from the RRP in all surrounding retail stores.
I thank CEX for pointing that out and have fixed the rating appropriately.

I went to CeX Blacktown on 4/12/2022.
All the staff were extremely friendly and casual, and made my day with their excellent disc resurfacing service.
Overall, a great experience.
P. S. Try shopping here instead of EB games. You can find a whole lot for the same price as a 9th generation console game (about 20 or 30 classics and extremely good games.)

I had alot of DVDs I wanted to sell, they said they will give me 55 cent store credit for them. But I cannot even buy one DVD for that amount. How does that make sense?

I ordered MacBook Pro on 13th July 22 still I didn’t receive very poor service I tried to call no one answered it was for school now I don’t know how long I have to wait for that

Got a game that was 18 bucks, accidentally charged me 18 cents. It was one of those emo girls. I want there snap tho bec they look hot.

Staff were very accommodating
I went to trade my phone in and they explained the process perfectly and were even willing to charge it for me to erase and remove my account

Be careful of the prices before buying, always double check before purchasing

Can be good for locating products that are hard to get or really old

Defective products and bad customer service, they refused to refund for defective products, proceed to offer another defective destroyed product as a replacement and then claim they can only offer a voucher instead of a proper refund because it's a "Change of mind" because I don't want more damaged or faulty goods? Only thing I've changed my mind about is ever buying here again. Absolutely no qaulity control and garbage customer service. 0/10 don't waste your time here.

I was the only one in the store when I walked into Blacktown store to ask them for a copy of my receipt as I lost both the phones together. The store manager was so rude and said don’t have time for that it will take too long we go through lot of transection a day. Once you purchase stuff from cex these no way to contact them. Very poor service definitely lost me as a customer and everyone I know.

I go here alot because they always have new stuff that I'm trying to find it they know definitely where I can get it and they will hold it for me great service and the crew are really helpful and curtious

Compared to their other stores, this one is not as well laid out. It took me 15 minutes to find the Anime section only for me to see that it was under Music.

The staff didn't leave their desk, nor did they ask if I or anyone else in the store needed assistance.

It's not terrible and maybe I was just there on a "not so good day" but I'm in no rush to go back

Sold me a laptop that wasn't clean internally the keyboard was sticky and someone has spelt something on it and it over heats with the the window 10 upgrade from window 7 which it can't support the upgrade to 10 and they sold it for $250 didnt tell they were problems with the laptop or had anything wrong then I've ran into so many problems with it

Staff were very knowledgeable and helpful will definitely go back there a pleasant experience overall
