Perfect venue for our small youth group! We booked the Kookaburra wing for our group of 23 and it was perfect - plenty of space and all the equipment we needed at the facility. David (the owner) looked after us so well and was available any time if we had a question or needed assistance. In particular, the huge kitchen was really great for our self-catered group. We also made use of the proximity to the lake & they have kayaks available on-site!

A good place to stay for a couple of days. Location is close to the waterfront about a 5 min walk. Beds are a little stiff but ok nonetheless. The outdoor area was the best part, quite specious and well suited to large groups. Could do with a bit of upkeep. The shower door for example would not close fully and the decor is a bit dated, reminded me a little of a nursing home. Nonetheless, this was a good place to spend a weekend with the boys.

A nice Retreat and Conference venue situated next to Lake Macquarie. A short walk to some grocery stores and an IGA. Parking is somewhat limited at the venue entrance, however, plenty of parking is available next to the lake (car park adjoining the site). Staff are very helpful.

A repurposed hospital buildings so there are remnants that remind you of its past.

Had a church camp here.
Very well maintained clean place with plenty of beds and bathroom, kitchen, BBQ facilities.
You can go for a lake swim near the jetty and go for a peaceful walk just outside the building and there is a big oval across the road for group activities.
This is a lovely place and is a place to go back.
Big thanks to David who had been flexible and informative to our group.

I come for taekwondo training, but the facilities are very adequate. Still smells a little weird though

Excellent.
Accommodation, landscaped gardens and position on Lake Macquarie is a serene sanctuary away from the rush of the world.

A massive thank you to David and Denise. With one day notice, they were able to take on a group of 50 and every single one of us had an absolute ball. Communication from David was A+, kept us at ease about the fire nearby. Denise was a gem to deal with and made the check-in as easy as possible. Special mention to Laurie, always helpful and was full of local tips and great advise.
Thank you again and look forward to seeing you in the future.

A relaxed and friendly place which encourages you to get out and enjoy
the wonderful environment. Going for a walk or a bike ride round the waterfront parks, or having fun doing bearfoot bowling.
The Staff are super friendly, polite and very helpful and the place has plenty of space to take small intimate groups or large roudy ones. Check it out you won't regret it.

Our church deaconess group stayed 1night at Catalina. First of all, this place was such a lovely place with 5star rating cleanness with beautiful surroundings.
Would like to express our special thank you to Peter, Manager of Catalina, who always greeted us with smile and made sure we stayed comfortably during our stay. We had catered vegetarian food for both dinner & breakfast and the food was excellent.
Even though it was a short stay, we all felt like we were at home.
I recommend Catalina for family or group whoever wants to have unity, relaxing or having fun.

Its pretty hard to find a house for a family party that is big enough to sleep more than 16 guests. Thats how I came across this place as a venue for a party. It has 80 beds, that was more than enough for us. This former hospital has all the amenities you mi gght need for a party. It has a commercial kitchen for self catering or for hiring a caterer to cook for you. There are a number of possibilities for dining too. There is a very large function room with a sound system and smaller meeting rooms off this. Most rooms are airconditioned including the function room. A tabletennis table was a highlight for us and there is also a BBQ area and enough room outdoors to pitch a marquee. We played along with the theme and had a hospital fancy dress party. So much fun. The manager was very laid back and helpful. This is a great conference venue or party venue.

This resort was a former military hospital turned nursing home turned retreat venue. They have kept the amenities and the hospital feel to give a warm and caring environment. At nights you can feel the eerily calm silence of your fears speak out to you. You must resist the urge come over you to attack your fellow guests. But you will prevail.
