Canterbury Timber & Building Supplies

I have asked these guys for small or odd sized lengths of timber to repair an older house on multiple occasions. Nothing is too much trouble and even though I’m not a tradie ordering vast amounts of timber they take their time to find what I need. They will also cut to length and otherwise happily accommodate my requests. I wish I had found them earlier than I did.

Had the crew from Canterbury Timber Flooring do my new Hybrid flooring last week and couldn’t be happier. The price and workmanship was 1st class. I wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend this business.

I’ve order online and I left a comment “please supply 3 m length as much as you can but when I got my order there is 0m length.and Driver bring my order with a big truck and he couldn’t deliver on my door. He left my order, far away from my garage door and i took them with hand to my house. It takes 30minutes for 210 m timber, he didn’t even help me That was his responsibility to deliver my order to my door

Efficient and skilled team! They are great to work with and have very competitive pricing compared to other suppliers.

But they give 4 lines 5 meter
And say total length is the same.

Going to a timber yard as a non-tradie looking for a small amount of wood for DIY/woodworking can be pretty daunting - they’re not usually set up for it. There were a couple of examples of this at Canterbury (like being told to go and “talk to the guys in the yard”, but not really knowing where you’d go to find them).

Once a guy on a forklift arrived he took me exactly where I needed to look, even helped me think through which wood might suit some of the project. They have a lot of hardwoods available for woodworking, too. Here’s my guide for first timers:

- the shop is massive and has a lot of useful woodworking stuff like finishes and fixings
- you don’t need to see the sales people first, just wave down a forklift like it’s a taxi. A timber taxi.
- that token they give you is for the car park barrier on exit

Very bad experience, arrogant customer service staff and miss leading prices. Very disappointed and dissatisfied what goes around comes around

Seem to have most timber, but guess that's because they are charging so much more. Quality seemed ok. Price charged not the same as advertised. Seemed to be a 'pink tax' applied. Sales guy Michael says he's offering the best deal going. Ha! You've got to be joking, he was a bit rude and couldn't care if you bought or not. Guys in the yard however were great, easy going and helpful.

The price of their website is way different to actually in store.misleading when compared with Bunnings, Bunnings is cheaper about $32.20 and much more better finish timber this was very disappointing. When tried to explain the difference store man agreed the wood was the same as the web advertised but arrogant customer counter servant disagrees and charged as he wishes anyway same will come back to him

After due diligence and calling the sales team to check availability of stock, placing the order online and then calling again to confirm the order and a delivery time, I traveled to the city to take delivery in the time specified by Canterbury timber. After waiting the 3 hour window, nothing came and no explanation was given. I called to find out what had happened, the gentleman laughed at me 3 or 4 times loudly and proclaimed that they don't have the product in stock, it was never going to be delivered during the time specified and Canterbury timber "NEVER" honors its contracts.leaving me several thousands of dollars out of pocket. (due to loss of ongoing hours to rectify Canterbury timber's spurious behavior. Not to mention the cost of the materials which is about 1/3 of the total deliberate financial damages caused)
Take this experience as you will but I strongly suggest going to any other supplier (nothing could possibly be as bad a Canterbury timber in my opinion) to avoid financial losses and damage to your business as my business is currently suffering.

Had exactly what we wanted and delivered promptly. In fact the delivery driver was fantastic, the only person who has ever been able to get into our back lane without any directions. Well done Canterbury Timber!

Went there, inside timber yard people were nice and helpful.but better do not have any deals with sales person Michael (old man - Indian background - nothing against it). I have asked discount on my purchase but his answer was rude and angry.after I felt guilty that I'm asking something.it's seems like he was giving me best deal ever and I was refuse it.any way it was bad experience.avoid that old man.otherwise you will feel like a rubbish.

Highly recommend! They had everything I needed, great customer service and the boys in the yard were so kind to load everything into my car for me. Very happy customer!

The decking product was a bit disappointing re quality of timber but taking in the fast delivery time, on balance - well done Canterbury Timbers.

I hate when they lie in your face about the timber they're giving you when you asked for something else. Please be honest!

Big shout out to the team at Canterbury Timber and Building Supplies, great customer service, open when others are not and reasonably priced. Had some skirting custom milled, basically done next day and was able to pick up on the public holiday. Can’t beat that!

Barry was the man whom offered my son & I assistance regarding the purchase of timber for his school major project.
The assistance, advice and service was absolutely great, that even included a BBQ breakfast if we keen!

They told me delivery was meant to be first thing I have workers sitting around doing nothing cause they delivered at mid day when I was told first hing in the morning.
Very poor customer service not happy at all waste my money.
Used them on another job and they delivered damaged posts didn't refund me and i had to cop it wouldn't use them again.

Only had a small job that needed doing (which other hardware and timber places wouldn't take on), but this place was so incredibly helpful and friendly! Everyone was so nice, from the receptionist, to the floor man, to the cutter. Even the gentleman packing and unloading came over and struck up a convo while I was waiting for my little job. Couldn't get over how helpful they were considering other places weren't interested in helping. Thanks again!
