We attended at wedding here last night and I must say that all of the service staff were exceptionally polite, friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious.

Would like to make a special mention of the waitress Judy who was a great host and kept all of the drinks full. A job bloody well done!

Cannot praise this establishment enough! Staff were so accommodating to my allergies and made the whole stressful experience of hoping I don't get sick, go away. Wonderful waitress and staff, very kind. On top of that the food was amazing, will be back with friends and family

I had an amazing time at this winery! The view is absolutely stunning and the wine tasting was really enjoyable. Rachel provided us with a great experience, and we appreciate all the effort she put into making our visit so memorable. Thank you so much, Rachel! We had a wonderful time.

Still loving the Calais Estate after all these years. Even funnier to see myself in the photos here 6 years younger.
Thanks for the fine wines and great service.

Breathtaking views from The Verandah Restaurant, friendly staff in the Cellar Door and delicious wines to enjoy! Visit the gift shop and enjoy the beautiful rows of vines on the Estate.

Staff are incredible! Happy to have a chat, both about the wines and not. The wines were so lovely and diverse. Even though there was a wedding happening that day we were still given undivided attention.

If you're thinking of a wedding here.here's some experience.
I spent over 30k for 170 people.
- Hidden rules around alcohol which ended up $40 corkage for spirits
- complaints by all guests that drinks had to be ordered through a bar (even soft drinks)
- multiple meals forgotten and not rectified when raised
- guests had to ask for their meals! (Oliver twist anyone?)
- Managent hang around during the night to ensure people do not have "too much fun".
For the amount paid, it was certainly not worth it. Look for better places if thinking Hunter Valley as this company is wolf in Sheep's clothing.

Every district has its pinnacle or diamond. Calais is our diamond in the Hunter region.

Very few wineries in Australia make sparkling wines in the ‘methode Champenoise’ Calais is one of the few and their results are outstanding. The tiny beads of the traditional method cannot be artificially created and the wines staying on the lees add a creaminess over time that is to be treasured.

Our cellar door host Lana, was informative, interesting and involved in our experience at the winery. Her efforts with our luncheon picnic hamper were fabulous. The setting for the winery and vineyard was out of picture books.

Thank you for our diamond experience.

My husband and I visited with our daughter this morning for breakfast. We sat upstairs on their gorgeous balcony overlooking the beautiful grounds. Coffee and breakfast was delicious. Service was warm and friendly.
As we came back down stairs, we met some friendly geese which wandered up from the pond. It was the highlight of our daughter's day! We will definitely be back!

This is about our fourth time here over the last five years. Love it. Sad about the last not so good reviews as our experience with the restaurant, the tastings and the wines have been amazing, to the point of wanting to buy Chardonnay reserve for more than $60/ bottle! (mind you the $40 bottle is nearly as good!)

I went to six wineries in the Hunter and Calais are the only one who knows how to make wine. The Hunter has a difficult weather and soils for wine, it requires knowledge and talent to get a well balanced wine under these condition and Calais do it with excellence.

The team at Calais- and especially Lahna, Lily and Jo - are absolutely exceptional. They offer customer service that’s out of this world. Every time we go, (and we keep going back because they are so wonderful), we are always made so welcome, and their attention and engagement makes us feel truly special! Their wines are delicious - new Crackling Rose is to die for and the Sémillon, Chardonnay and Sangiovese are particular favourites. We highly recommend Calais- they are stand out. The Kawul restaurant is a treat as well. Inspirational dishes, scrumptious combinations- unquestionably haute cuisine.

Great tasting experience, the girl told us how champagne and sparkling was made which was interesting. She also shared interesting facts about the sandstone that made the building.
