Blast from the past. Used to dine here ages ago. Slowly move away as we lived far away from the cbd. Back here after a good 10 years and I believe the food still taste the same! Great for family gathering.
Once you are here, it will be a sin not to visit the dessert place across the road

Love love this place! I have celiac disease and the staff was super knowledgeable about celiac and eating gluten free! The gluten free pizza and pastas were amazing! Will definitely be back

Came here last Thursday with a few friends as they've just moved in down the road. The service was fantastic by all the staff members that night. Everyone was so welcoming and kind.
The food was great as well. My favourite on the night was the capricciosa and the scampi pasta. Fresh and delicious ingredients, the server also recommended that we get the tiramisu, my partner loved it and said it was one of the best she's ever had.
We'll definitely be back.

Really nice venue with a patio area, very kind attentive staff. Gluten free pizza and pasta for an extra fee. I had the pizza and it was tasty. Would have loved it a bit fresher but otherwise can’t complain. Good toppings and cheese. A nice experience, thank you!

Nice food. Good service. Plenty of space. A little noisy but enjoyable place for lunch. Byo wine but plenty of beers to choose from. Tight carpark though.

Really nice family Italian restaurant on Norton Street. Staff were very friendly and the restaurant was very accommodating with the 5 kids we had at our table
Food was pretty good

Service was great but Fettucine boscaiola didn't have much creamy sauce and chicken parmigiana was a bit bland.

As someone who loves italian food. Do yourself a favour and please eat somewhere else. The food is basic and unseasoned. Imagine having bruschetta with out balsamic and lemon juice.like come on.to be honest you would have better pizza and pasta from coles

The pizza and pasta we had were great, though the meatlovers pizza was a bit salty for me. I would have rated this 4stars, but there was a cockroach on our pizza. Although they promptly replaced it with a new one, I cannot unsee the toasted roach on my pizza and thought of its whereabouts before its final rest.

We were quickly seated without a booking and the service was prompt and friendly.
The gnocchi was top notch, but we should have ordered two pasta dishes as the pizza was very average, bordering on poor.
Where was the tomato sauce? The topping was a sloppy mess covered in oil which was a bit strange. Would probably get takeaway pasta again, but will give their pizzas a miss.

The cashier woman who is apparently the manager is very abrupt and aggressive. She has no manners at all. If I were the owner, I would’ve allocated and reassigned her to toilet cleaning duties only as she doesn’t have the necessary communication skills for a customer facing role. Having read the other reviews, I can see there are lots of others who have also experienced her aggressive and abrupt attitude. I will certainly be taking my money and business elsewhere next time as this business does not deserve a single cent of my money…

Ordered pasta for delivery and it's hella good. One of the best I have ever ordered and service is top notch.

Add notes for parmigiana cheese and they follow the note to a T, every detail accounted for.

Had to thank the chef by making an order and putting it in the notes and got back a very big surprise, the chef and wait stuff had doubled my order for me to enjoy their awsome pasta.

Thank you chef and stuff, ì well defintly continue to order here and visit some time to eat inside the Cafe.

Sorry, I’ve spent many years coming to this establishment, and after a hiatus with being OS for a good few years, I’m now back and bringing my 8/5 year old, and though I should have posted a review years ago, I am now…GIOIA IS CONSTANTLY; GREAT QUALITY ITALIAN FOOD, FANTASTIC WITH FAMILIES, AND ALL ROUND A JOY/FUN RESTAURANT TO VISIT…see you again soon and thank you:)

Best pizza in Sydney! Especially for picky, homesick Europeans.
My favourite is the capricciosa. They have a delicious vegetarian pizza as well.

I sat down for dinner over a weekend and their customer service was great. The waiter was super accommodating and friendly. The pizza was pretty average which was disappointing.
The crust was crispy but the toppings and flavour were nothing special.
Meat lovers had 3 average meats (it was missing the bacon) and it was bland in comparison to other pizza I've had locally.

Haven't been to Gioia for quite a few years, but so glad I returned. The service is welcoming and efficient without being smothering and the timing of drinks and the food is spot on. Every review I read of 'best' Italian restaurants is laden with hipster joints in the East and the CBD. They might throw in Newtown for effect. Folks, real Italian cuisine is to be found in Leichhardt, Haberfield, Five Dock or Concord. That's been the case for years. Our Pizzas were sublime, the sizes were generous, the fillings fresh and plentiful and the crust cooked to perfection. You will not find a better Pizza restuarant. Mille Grazie Tutti, look forward to the next time!

Quick and efficient service, standard Italian fare - old fashioned pizza, bruschetta and garlic bread.the lettuce in the greek salad was not edible however.
