I was invited for residency exchange program, initially told I would trial for one day then be able to move in. I then got told I could move in as a resident then second day, Kyoko changed her mind again. When voicing I felt it was unfair to be working for free without them giving residency, they said they needed a third day of trial, then told me that day after confirming when I could move in that there wasn’t in fact soace for me and that I had been used to work free volunteer work for three shifts. I worked well, felt so excited to have the opportunity and was told I’d be a great fit by the people I trialled with. The owner John made condescending belittling comments to me the whole time, spoke down to me like I was a slave, I was gaslighted and lied to so they could get free labour from me.

Do not trial here or accept residency unless you’re willing to be treated like human garbage after they’ve finished using you to then toss you in the trash.

I cried to the Human Resources manager whilst she was trying to speak over me as I expressed how poorly I felt I’d be treated with very little respect. John and Kyoko are holding and teaching yoga ~ however do not embody the yoga teachings or live by that themselves. The work practices and procedures are also unsafe and unhygienic, and not up to the standards of workplaces in Australia. I know it’s illegal to make people trial for more than two hours.

More to say here, but if you’re a feminine kind hearted woman ~ expect to be disrespected and met with brutal misogyny.

The food is also very average, bland and made without passion, love or devotion. This place just ants free labour and your money basically. The quality of yoga teachers is very poor also.

With love from my heart and wisdom from my life experience, the truth needed to be shared so no one else gets treated like this. Save your money, go to Bali

Words can not describe the truly magical experience I had on the India retreat. The teachers and the people I met were all amazing unique beings. I believe I have truly left the retreat as a better version of myself and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

I had a fantastic time at my 200hr YTT! The teachers and facilities are amazing. I learned so much that I will continue to apply on and off the mat. Thanks for everything.

A very especial place. Unique beauty and energy found everywhere: gardens, kitchen, yoga classes, staff, guests.feels like a real break, the type everyone should experiment at least once and feel reinvigorated and in peace. Accommodation is simple and very comfortable. Birds and little animals come to visit and remind you that life can be less hectic than what most of us are accustomed to. The serene and calming property is surrounded by a beautiful rain forest and a colorful garden that produces most of the food we eat. Speaking of food, it exceed my expectation in all aspects. I felt light and nourished after each meal. I would certainly be coming back and I would recommend this place to anyone looking a reset and reconnection with nature.

Would not work with Caitlin Harris, seems difficult and judgemental letting down the good vibes

What a blissful experience! I did an 8 day retreat here and was really quite skeptical whether it would be for me when booking. But boy was I wrong! There were people from so many different walks of life who were all on the retreat for different reasons and got so much from the experience. I would confidently recommend BYC to everyone and anyone! There were many different levels of yoga offered, and I really enjoyed learning about Yoga Philosophy and Meditation. The staff do a really amazing job of creating a space for guests where they feel safe and relaxed. The food is deliciously nutritious and tasty (and this is coming from a meat-eater)! The grounds and gardens are beautiful and very peaceful. The pool is amazing. The massage treatments are luxurious. Do yourself a favour and book a retreat.

I absolutely loved doing my teacher training here. It had all of the elements you would expect from teacher training and many more. I took a punt when choosing the Byron Yoga Centre for my yoga teacher training as there were many other seemingly excellent options also available in Melbourne where I live. I am so grateful to have chosen Byron Yoga. The teacher trainers were inspiring, intelligent.diverse and had life experience. John leads by example and is humble, wise and kind. Mostly I finally found a yoga practice that is 'complete' (sanskrit word is Purna) and has ALL of the elements I want and feel are mandatory in a well balanced and nourishing yoga class. This is a beautiful place to do and learn yoga.

I use this place as my work escape. Close to the Byron Bay City centre (10 minute walk), fantastic clean rooms, beds and amenities. Professionally run business with knowledgeable caring hosts providing genuine support. For beginner "wannabes" like me to advanced yogis, this place has retreats and courses running all year round. Great value too. The food is vegetarian and coming from a carnivore, I love mealtime. You have a great team John. Thanks for everything

I went to the retreat a little soul weary and left five days later with the smell of sandalwood lingering, a light heart and smile on my lips. If your heart is whispering to do a yoga retreat- listen to the call and find a way, you will be so glad you did. The hosts are phenomenal, always thinking of how to give you the best retreat, they live loving kindness and gentleness. So grateful for the experience.

A fabulous way to unwind, recharge and rewire over 8 Days! In 8 Days the friendly staff and tranquil surroundings supported a gentle, restorative program of yoga, meditation, treatments and food. The accomodation was simple, unpretentious and clean. The food was delicious with a variety of vegetarian dishes that didn't leave you wanting anything. The hosts were generous and kind, answering questions and making sure everything ran smoothly. The classes were engaging and from my experience, could be accessed by everyone [from people who'd never practiced to those with years of yoga and meditation]. Everything about this stay was pleasurable, would strongly recommend for those who are after a revitalising break from their lives.

I have just finished the 8 day retreat and I have emerged a new person. I can't speak highly or enough about the experience I had at Byron Yoga Centre. From the moment i arrived and met our retreat hosts Caitlin and Ross I was made to feel at ease and welcome. The program is full but you still have plenty of time to yourself, plus yiu can participate as much as you like. The teachers, kitchen staff, treatment therapists, meditation and philosophy teachers were all incredible. The accommodation is simple and the cleanliness of the entire premises is spotless and the food, my god the food- just beautiful. I cant wait to return to learn more and be amongst such beautiful people. Whether you are travelling solo, new to yoga, an experienced yogi or just after some time to yourself I highly recommend Byron Yoga Centre

I have nothing but thanks and praise to give to the Byron Yoga centre. What an amazing 5 days I have had. Every single person who works and everyone who stayed had such amazing energies and passion. The people, the yoga, the meditation, the food (amazing) and the overall experience was exactly what I needed. The hosts made my experience exactly what I needed and I thank them for helping me walk away feeling like I have a smile on my mind. Thank you!

Look before you leap.

Applied online for the YTT 200HRS in Bali with Byron Yoga Centre.

The following week I recieved a confirmation email for the YTT in Bali with all the details advising the application was accepted. I confirmed via email with their office regarding accomodation etc.to which they assured me was all taken care of.

Booked my flights and transfers to Bali and paid for all the student texts etc.required for the YTT.

Approx 3 - 4 weeks later I recieved a phone call to say due to 'economic downturn in Bali' they YTT was no longer proceeding and as such cancelled. My flights were non-refundable, as most are.

Went through a long process of trying to recover the cost of my flights for BYC, they offered me to complete YTT in Byron with them for a dicounted rate. This was the only form of compensation they were willing to provide me for $500+ out of pocket expenses for flights. Even though my intention was always to do this training in Bali.

Felt really disappointed that they would give a confirmation for a program they no doubt did not have the ability to proceed with. Allowed me and likely others to book flights and did not compensate for their mistake.

I would say double check before you book anything that requires you to travel, i.e. Their Retreats etc.offered on their website.

Awesome place, great people/community atmosphere, super delicious food, very relaxing. Fantastic opportunity to practice yoga at various levels, with classes allowing for either strong practice or to take it easy. Great timetable that combines both dynamic and more long hold restorative practices. I attended with my husband who has much less yoga experience than me and was pleased that he could also enjoy the classes. Also, don't be put off by the composting share toilets/bathrooms - they were very clean with no smell at all.
