James M is a professional, kind and responsive agent who looked after us very well end to end for our leasing. He is very friendly and easy to engage. Everything that was agreed was actioned in a timely manner. When I collected the keys I was immediately greeted by a very nice lady. Once we moved in we noticed there was a small issue with plumbing, but Donna C sorted us out super quick and a plumber was out within an hour to resolve our problem. Great job BWHH, you have amazing team members!

My dealings with James were excellent from the get go. Great service and meticulous attention to detail. He was very thorough in all documentation and email correspondence making the process easy and efficient. I have dealt with several agents in the past and would now not use anyone else! 17 Jeanette Street - Agent didn’t even bother turning up to rental showing, didn’t call back. Wasted 40 minutes of my time in travel and $50 on additional daycare fees.

Not the worst real estate agent I’ve ever experienced, but very close!

I write this on the basis of being a tenant through BresicWhitney, but also being a landlord myself for a property I own elsewhere - so have tried to make this a fair review!

I was searching for a property from the UK, with our flights booked and work lined up. We made this clear so agents knew our move was serious!

We found a property advertised by BresicWhitney, Hunters Hill. Early communication from the agent was pretty poor. The agent took a week to reply to email, and didn’t pick up calls (made during Sydney business hours), nor did we get call backs from our voicemails.

Nevertheless after lots of pushing, the agent eventually facilitated the tenancy.

Now we come to the real problems from move-in date. We had been in Sydney for a week. The agent was not able to meet us and left the keys in the reception of the agents office.

When we moved in, we had an electronic copy of the check in report for us to flag any issues that weren’t already in the report. The inventory contained very few issues, which turned out to be very different from reality!

On day 1, two of three sinks in the property were broken (1 fully blocked with old standing water, the other leaked badly on the counter top). The cooker didn’t work. Front door lock was broken. Garage lock was broken. The bathroom door lock was missing entirely, and toilet seat was falling off. A window was broken. A kitchen draw was falling off. A visibly burnt socket. None of this (except front door lock) was noted in the check in report! I raised this all on the same day with the agent.

The cooker, front door lock and sink were resolved in a week. Not timely in my opinion. But it was addressed nonetheless.

Over the coming 2-3 weeks, I noted other issues - electrical socket sparking, and another electrical socket falling off the wall after first use. The dishwasher was missing parts, so can’t be used properly. Leaks around the kitchen sink affecting electrics.

It took over 2.5 months to fix dangerous electrical issues, leaks and security issues. 3 months on, still haven’t fixed the dishwasher. The handyman who came to fix the kitchen and bathroom, joking how poorly maintained and old it was, and the broken toilet seat the agent was reluctant to replace, must have been at least 10-20 years old.

I complained to NSW Services in Jan-23 and the agent replied on the electrical point that I had never raised concerns over electrics. I am glad I communicated over email. I had an email I sent on 15 November clearly stating the socket under the sink was sparking. A number of days/emails later, when I finally received an email from the reluctant agent on 15 December saying: “I will send an electrician to the property”.

Almost a month later, I reached out again and asked when an electrician was being sent - the agent said she wasn’t sending one!
I queried why she said before that she was sending one, and they claim (despite being written in black and white in an email to me), that they never said this! Bad memory, over worked, or intentional - I don’t know.

Eventually, an electrician was sent! The first thing the electrician said, “this is incredibly dangerous”. The socket was badly water damaged and was completely dangerous to use!

There has been absolutely no acknowledgment from the agent that all this has been mishandled, or at least to accept the issues could’ve been fixed much quicker - all whilst I have been paying full rent on time each fortnight.

BresicWhitney have made our start in Sydney difficult and un-enjoybale. With two kids, missing home, being in a property that in parts was not safe, an agent that has failed to support us or show any empathy whatsoever - I absolutely would not recommend BresicWhitney!

The only positive I can bring out - when I was in their office at some stage, on the verge of tears, begging to get their help, the receptionist showed a lot of genuine care and reassurance (the only person from BresicWhitney I have met in person - the others always being unavailable).

James assisted us to find a great 2 bedroom house in Balmain East as we relocated to Sydney. He was highly communicative, prompt and extremely easy to deal with. Equally important, and very rare in our experience, was the quality and accuracy of the advertised property.the information online matched reality. The property is in excellent repair and clean and tidy to be able to move straight in.a testament to the owner, Bresic Whitney and the previous occupants. We're so grateful and looking forward to fully settling in. Thank you James and team.

Nicholas McEvoy recently sold my house off market in Gladesville, finding a buyer without us having to refresh or style the house – saving us time and money.
