I can't help but come away from Wake Up Bondi feeling disappointed.

This hostel falls victim to being a product of its environment: A clientele based on (to a larger extent, with the exception of some really great people in-between) pretentious and unfriendly teenagers/early-20-somethings who aren't interested in meeting new people. There is a smugness to the staff that I can't put my finger on, but it was all around an unpleasant stay.

***A warning to those travelling in their 30s*** I'd recommend going to Bondi during the day and saving the overnight stay for a different part of the city.

To give credit to the hostel layout: It has a nice rooftop with a great view of the beach.

Wake-up Bondi was the best placed I stayed in all of Australia. The staff there are a great laugh Adam really stuck out with local suggestions. Would love to have stayed longer

I do not recommend this hostel for several reasons, the same ones that I could now read in other comments.
The hostel does not have an elevator and they do not help you carry your suitcases up (3 floors carrying suitcases over 23kg and no one from the staff helps you)
The rooms are not 100% clean, they have very little ventilation, the bedding was not 100% clean either.
The staff is not friendly at all! Added to that when we went to pay what we needed for the stay they wanted to overcharge us.
The price you pay is not worth it at all! The only good thing is the location and the view from the terrace but I do not recommend spending so much on this hostel at all, which leaves a lot to be desired.

I stayed in this hostel almost 6 weeks. I have to say i was very impressed with the staff treated everyone with respect especially luke the manager even when it was my time to go he still looked after me right up to
The very end why he got a big hug off me. The rest of the staff jake marlon all the girls and guys were fantastic. Its not easy when you work and live in a dorm but i found this enjoyable experience. If you are coming to bondi stay here and not bondi backpackers well worth it

The hostel is super small and super expensive for what they offer.
The only good thing is the location and a few activities at night that are quiete nice.

I was treated magnificently by 2 gentlemen, known by the name of Jakob and Ricardo. These Lads didn‘t only do their job. They went beyond their boundaries to satisfy the needs of me and my fellow traveler.

Myself and Mikey stayed for two weeks here! Best nights of our lives! Everyone was so friendly and helpful! Staff always helped out when it came to cleaning and group nights! Honestly advice everyone to take up the group nights! We had wine and cheese and lots of card games! Thanks guys missing you lots!

Ok hostel. Lots of activities. Definitely needs an elevator and bigger showers. Wake up Sydney was 10x better

Let's run down this scenario: Some guy is loudly cussing out a girl on the phone at 12: 30 AM in the bathroom when people are trying to sleep. I tell him to shut up and he goes screaming nuts, tries to attack me in my stall, throws a large roll of toilet paper over the stall, then runs into the girls bathroom. When he leaves the girls bathroom, I follow after him to try to ID him, point him out to the front desk, and put some pressure on him to calm down since he's clearly lost it.

After being there for 3 months, getting to know the staff and making several friends at the hostel, they decide to boot me because they feel I was "too involved" in the situation, and force me to leave behind a stable living situation and many good friends.

These folks broke my heart. They made a bad call and everybody else I've talked to feels the same way. They just didn't seem to care enough to try to do the the right thing.

I was originally staying here for 3 nights but loved this hostel so much I ended up extending for 1 week! Super clean, great kitchen and social spaces. Every day the hostel has some great social events on. Perfect location for the beach and access to shops. The highlight of my stay was definitely the incredible staff team. Although everyone was amazing, I have to give credit to Joshua and Tom. I’ve been staying in hostels for 6 months and worked in one myself for 2 months. I know the challenge of getting a big group together and making sure everyone is having the best time possible, Josh absolutely smashed it on nights out making sure everybody had someone to talk to and kept the hype up throughout the night without being pushy. Tom went out of his way on a rainy day to show me a walk along the coast and some of the best local spots. Overall I was thrilled with my stay and can’t wait to come back to Bondi in a few months, I’ll definitely be staying here again!:)

Great hostel all around - rooftop patio, large and clean kitchen, air con in room. Everything you could ever want in a hostel!

Amazing hostel! Staff are so lovely and kind and helped me with lots of questions - it felt so welcoming. Location is perfect too and the dorms were spacious and clean. Would definitely return!

Very clean and quite. Had very good sleep. Perfect location with plenty of stores, bars, restuarants around. Beach front view with rooftop to chill out. The ever best hostel so far. Highly recommend!

This hostel is louder than an Alpha Omega frat house on Friday evening. I've been here for 3 nights (in a private room) and have probably accumulated, in total, 12 hours of sleep. The guests that stay here are big drinkers, due to the nature of youth accommodation, and enter and exit at all hours of the night. Being that the walls are paper thin, you'll get the pleasure of hearing every door slam and drunken word uttered. Guests aren't mindful and staff don't care, as mentioned in other reviews. It's not uncommon to have drunk groups of traveller's congregating directly outside of your door for a chat at 3AM, only hurried along by your verbal requests to bring it elsewhere. I am on the 3rd floor, near the stair-well to the upstairs patio. This is open late and is where people are permitted to be as noisy as possible, my suggestion is stay as far away from this entry point as you can. For anyone trying to sleep in the shared dorms here, GOOD LUCK and GOD SPEED?

Absolutely amazing, staff are very friendly and welcoming. I’ve stayed at Wake Up Bondi multiple times. The location is perfect, right across from the beach, free surfboard hire, multiple activities throughout the week.

Any problems the staff are quick to sort them out any questions the staff are happy to answer, across the road from the buss which runs very regularly, you can get a discounted gym pass from them. Woolworths is down the road.

The rooms are very spacious and kept clean with housekeeping coming in daily to hoover and empty bins. Lockers are in the room for you to store your stuff in.

I love all the staff at Wake Up Bondi! But a big shout out to the best mangers there Luke and Sam ️

Positives - amazing location that can't be beaten, free yoga is great, rooftop area is nice and there is plenty of space to work on the top floor.

Negatives - rooms are cramped, aren't kept very clean / tend to have a stale smell. There is generally a lack of ventilation and sunlight in the rooms. AC systems seem to have mold in them. When it is turned on I immediately get a headache/ feel unwell since I have a compromised immune system. The staff refuse to believe this but it's true, you can literally see it.

The guests tend to be early 20s working holiday crowd (as you would expect). However if you're a bit older like me (30s+) you may prefer going elsewhere.

The staff are generally pleasant but also tend to be on working holidays, and sometimes seem pretty disinterested. I can't say I blame them since they probably aren't being paid much, but I think management could do a lot more to improve this place.

At the end of the day it's a hostel so I don't expect perfection BUT given the price (around 70 AUD per night) I would expect a lot more. I've stayed in hostels around the world for less than a fifth of the price that are much better.

This Hostel is an extremely friendly/clean hostel, every staff member is very helpful and welcoming. This is a great place to meet new people, also their is lots of activities going on where you can get involved and have a laugh. Surf board hire is a huge plus to the hostel and the boards are a good standard. The hostel on a whole is very clean and the kitchen is a good size too.

Nice view on the rooftop overlooking Bondi beach. The staff are friendly and amentities generally clean and well maintained. The only downside was that there were some people partying downstairs until really late

The accommodation is great and the place is clean. The cherry on top of the experience was the exceptional staff and check in with Frida and Amy!

Great location, beautiful views on the rooftop, general maintenance and cleaning is good and very friendly staff.
Would suggest to find a way to avoid the continuous slamming of doors.
