Blackdog Surf School Byron Bay

Don't look any further than Blackdog for renting a surfboard in Byron. Great prices, friendly down-to-earth people, and good boards. My husband and I rented boards and wetsuits for 3 days and had an absolute blast. The ladies running the shop were so helpful and friendly and even cut us a very generous deal, so we would 100% recommend this shop to anyone!

Very cool team, had two days of lessons and two different trainers each, who were all very competent. After a short time you were already standing and surfing the first few meters. On site you were greeted very warmly and addressed directly by name

Rented a board and wetsuit with my friend while visiting Byron bay and this shop and the staff could not have been more helpful. Plenty of boards to choose from and Tam was so helpful sorting us out quickly before a lesson went out. Also kind enough to give us a spot in the van and saved us carrying the boards all the way to the beach. Such lovely staff both Tam and the surf instructor whose name I can’t remember but she was South African (sorry!) but she was so lovely and we were very grateful for the lift! Can’t recommend enough. Thank you guys!

We hired some surf gear today. Wonderful customer service and seemingly cheaper than most other surf shops in town. Highly recommended!

We had a 3h lesson with Luca and it was awesome. He was a great help and super relaxed which made it really comfortable.
Tam was really warm and welcoming.
We really had the best time and we loved it!

Unfortunately something went wrong with my booking so I couldn't attend but thanks to their effort I was able to get onto another class on the same day. Very nice employees!

Great experience! Ive never surfed before and these classes gave me so much confidence.my instructor was so patient and kind, i signed up for 5 days but 3 was enough to wear me out, and i got refunded no problem.tam is so full of energy, so helpful and warm! Highly recommend!

Best surf hire in Byron bay. You won’t find anyone with better prices and the boards are good as well. We also got very good recommendations for the area.

We spent a week at Byron with two 13 year olds girls who wanted to improve their surfing skills. Deano was a fantastic instructor. He had them riding waves from Day 1 and they had the best week ever. Deano is a fabulous surf instructor and really knows the conditions which makes all the difference. Can't recommend Black Dog Surf School highly enough! Will definately be back!

Sadly had to cancel due to being sick, but nonetheless the service was outstanding. My boyfriend and I were fully refunded, and communication was excellent. Tam was incredibly kind and helpful.

Such a great experience! The team at Black Dog were super friendly and made it easy to book it in! Our instructor was amazing and somehow, despite never surfing before, we were up riding waves from the beginning!
