Blackbutt Reserve Wildlife Exhibit reviews
39Beautiful place to spend the day, having lunch with the peacocks was amazing and walking the trial so many animals honestly surprised it’s completely free
Husband was very impressed. It was about 40 years since his last visit, and seeing the wildlife enclosures was a bonus.
Very surprised by the number of animals and birds, considering it’s free! (Except for parking) The habitats look very natural and it can be hard to spot some of the animals!
Amazing wildlife reserve. Beautifully made up and easily accessible for prams/wheelchairs. Looked like everyone (kids, teenagers and adults) were having fun! Had an amazing day!
Great experience! Enjoyed the walk and the animals.
Parking fee: 14$ all day
The other options to pay for an hour didn’t work
I would have loved to have given a 5 star rating but unfortunately I unable to. While the park itself as a whole is fantastic, great little wildlife section the kids loved and the toilet and bbq amenities are kept immaculate we were bitterly disappointed that after being sold a small ice cream cone filled with food for the animals there are actually no areas of interaction that the kids can feed the animals other than to drop it through the fence and hope for the best. This is somewhat hard to explain to a 5 year old who just wanted to feed something
Much more than what we were expecting. Parking 4$/hour. Reserve free to visit. Went at about 3pm, we didn't see anyone. Was so quiet and calm, really nice to see the animals calm napping: birds, koalas, emu, kangaroos, wombats.the place was clean and well kept. Spent 30 minutes. I highly recommend, with or without children it is nice to have a walk in the forest!
Really nice reserve with plenty of space for families to roam around and BBQ. Underrated animal exhibits, really worth checking out their great selection. Parking can be an issue on nice weekends.
Amazing wildlife reserve in the outskirts of Newcastle. Watch koalas, mostly sleeping, kangaroos, some really amazing birds and a few reptiles looking scary. Most amazing: Entry is free and there is ample parking - good time out for the entire family.
When did you catch in was really good experience emu the gotta fix some of the uprooted trees but overall 10/10
Surprise this beautiful and cute place doesn’t charge for any ticket fees. Comfortable walk path for wheelchairs and prams. Not crowded at all. Less animal species than zoo, but the nice and chill vibe is still worth visiting.
A mostly well maintained wildlife reserve situated over a boardwalk and throughout the forest, there are some renovations currently occurring in Dec 2022.
Entry is free, parking is $4 an hour. Child’s playground with weekend kiosk on site too.
Rich aviary.also a number of reptiles, few koalas and peacocks.all very healthy and well maintained. FREE zoo, u just pay for Parking as long as u stay. You will love it here.
Easy to find and parking
Beautiful picnic and BBQ.
Great for kids easy walk on boardwalk. A must to see.
The playground and facilities were great but The wallabies, kangaroos and Emus we saw looked really sad and depressed. Small enclosures, no purpose to their lifes, no stimuli or freedom. They shouldn’t be locked up. Plenty of places to see them in the wild in Australia.
They can easily charge for admission and they will still be worth. Great place for bbq, nature lovers and kids. There is parking charge but cheap. Highly recommend.
Great free exhibit where you can see certain things like koalas and exotic birds. Enter on the left side and exit on the right side.
The aviary is worth the visit- a relaxing mezzanine to watch many native birds and the koalas
Many of the exhibits are closed or under construction.
Great facilities like bathrooms, bbq area, extensive playground and paid parking area.
Fantastic exhibits, especially the main Koala enclosure. If you would like a naturalistic experience with some of Australia's most famous wildlife, this is certainly the place to visit.
Great place to visit with the kids (Or by yourself!). Easy to access, parking is affordable ($12 for a full day) and the exhibits are free to wander through. There are set times for a reptile show, which you can purchase tickets for at the kiosk for a small fee (there are also snacks, coffee, ice creams and some souvenirs available).
We took some time to walk on the nature trails, played on the playground and saw all the animals. The kids loved the peacocks who wander around and are very tame. The lake is a great spot to spot some turtles and eels as well as fish & ducks.
Plenty of bbq facilities if you're there early enough, and the toilets are clean and well kept.
Highly recommend a visit, at least a couple of hours worth!
