Bidjigal Reserve - Platypus Track reviews
48 This is the best track I have seen in the suburbs by far! The reserve offers 3 different trail intensities, the platypus track I would say is family friendly, the mouse track is moderate, some fitness needed there, and haven't tried the hard one yet. Absolutely stunning views, great little rainforest in the middle of the city.
(I am posting these photos from the moderate track (warraga - mouse track)
Drove out here and there were signs saying ‘fox poisoning here, lethal to domestic animals’
My entire family went here for a stroll. They say it would take you one hour to do it but not when you have a newborn, 2 dogs, and a senior with you. We spent good 2 hours to finish the trail, take pictures, and savour every part of the walk. Highly recommended for beginners!
This is a lovely track and walk, however there can be odour issues due to the sewer main that runs along the creek.
Such a beautiful short walk. 30 min loop. Tried it first time and it had good directions so didn't get lost. Lots of climbing required.has steps and slopes. Refreshing walk!
A good place for hiking, only if you are familiar with the routes.
Signs are sitting wherever you don’t actually need them.
While at some major crossings, sorry, trust your instinct.
Very nice hiking trail, has a lot of variety and walking along the river keeps the walk cool and shaded.
Really nice trail. Did the 7.1km loop, which did have a few areas that have sustained major water damage, so the trail wasn't in good condition, but that wasn't a major concern. Most of the majorly damaged areas were marked with signage. The extended trail was quiet, with the shorter route busier.
I did the Platypus and dog legged the yellow track - unsure of the animal bilby maybe? Worked out to be 9km all up and encountered a lot of erosion and fallen trees that you have to go around and over so this does increase the difficulty of this ordinarily easy track. Love this gorgeous hike, right in the middle of suburbia!
Very nice hike. It's not too hard. There are 3 tracks
The blue one is the easiest, you could finish it in 30 minutes with faster pace
The green is meduim and red takes up to 8 hours. Preparing to conquer that one soon
So beautiful, green and cool. Full of birds and massive, stunning trees. Amazing to think you're in the middle of suburbia.
Family friendly nature surprise. Lovely varied 30 minute loop track along the creek. Stepping stones, interesting rock overhangs. Great for an afternoon walk to get the kids out of the house and away from screens. Amazing how Sydney has these lovely nature surprises. Worth a bookmark and a plan to visit.
Used to be a great bush walking spot however now I can't recommend it just due to the fact that the some parts of the river is contaminated with raw sewage and it turned the water from clear into ink black and it stinks. The main trails are well maintained and for those looking for adventure there are plenty of hidden paths in plain sight around the reserve but be warned they are poorly maintained so make sure to take care. They range from a quick way down to a lookout. Just don't be afraid to explore.
Awesome experience - we can hear Bird’s chirping clearly while walking.
Like they welcoming us in their world.
Beautiful walking / hiking track, well signed and is well maintained by council. Good proper waterproof hiking shoes highly recommended if you are doing the yellow trail which is my favourite.
Had an amazing day here with my kids and dog. Easy enough hike but would allow yourself plenty of time to get from start to finish. Beautiful place.
It's a beautiful reserve and walking trail. The trail may be a bit difficult or tricky for some people, as it can ge quite steep in certain areas and also potentially slippery.
Went on a quiet monday arvo. It’s a very fun, moderately easy walk. Some sections are muddy so beware of where what you wear before you come, my dog absolutely loved it and it was first ever hike. Cant recommend this enough to dog owners.
This is was such a good trail. Was not sure what I expected but this was a little surprise. Doggo loved it except when he couldn't climb past a fallen tree. But we managed to get thru it. The stillness and the quiet in the place really took me by surprise.
