Berrima General Store & Café

Phone ordered bacon and egg rolls and a coffee as I was in a rush.got there to find out they didn’t do it because they run out of bacon I said I’ll grab my coffee if it’s done 10 mins later I got a burnt coffee won’t be back.didn’t eat all day because of this. Do yourself a favour go to magpie cafe and courtyard cafe are better

Miserable. Terrible service. Terrible food. Order frittata, had no flavour, was bland and disgusting. Would not recommend. Kitchen also looked filthy.

A cool little spot to sit and have a coffee or a feed. Try the homemade Lemonade, it is excellent.

I’m not sure why they took 27 minutes to prepare my quiche + salad. The quiche is already on display. I may have to assume they went to the mansion up the road to harvest the salad freshly.
When i reminded the staff about the missing order, no apologies. When the food was served, the quiche was partly cold.
It’s not even a peak hour, they were serving 2 tables when I arrived, and another 2-3 when I reminded them. So eat somewhere else. Not worth your time and money.

We have just returned from “another” wedding in the Sthn Highlands and it was great fun and obviously an important event - great fun and outstanding venue!

Speaking of which we visited for the second time another “outstanding” venue -The Berrima General Store!

Sunday, mid morning - in need of coffee and food we wandered in looking for a spot in the sun!
The place was heaving, full of locals calling to each other and lots of people just enjoying an easy Sunday before heading back to city life.
The food - yummy, interesting, tasty and well cooked - the bloke in the Italian Rugby jumper explained that the Bakery (theirs) was closed while the owners were in Italy on their honeymoon - good sign.
The service - friendly and actually happy to chat and laugh before rushing to drop more coffees, Mexican eggs or Brecky wraps to other tables!
So fun watching relaxed, friendly service compared to our local cafe in Sydney.

The verdict - if you are down south, want a coffee, great bread (I am reliably informed - more reports next visit) - stop/stay in Berrima and explore a real villiage!

I will qualify this by stating that this may have been a bad day as the other reviews are pretty good. I ordered a pie and two sausage rolls with chips and salad for two meals and two coffees. Got the coffees and they brought a bowl of fries, not chips. We sat and watched whilst others turned up and were served before us. It was busy so I politely asked the girl at the counter if our order had been forgotten, it was. She then apologised and grabbed two sausage rolls and a pie from what I thought was a pie oven. They disappeared for about 10 minutes and a sausage roll and salad was brought to the table without the stated chips. Another sausage roll was brought out on its own and 10 minutes later a soggy pie was delivered.which I tried a bite of and left. It looks like you have the capacity to deliver good food guys but you missed that opportunity with us today. Not sure what went wrong and everyone has a bad day but there are many other places to spend money and I would be hard pressed to return. I dont like giving poor reviews but this is stuff you need to know.

Bought 2 meals 2 drinks only one meal came 2nd one came 10 min latter but besides that food was nice

Very good coffee and Pastries are AMAZING. They also own a bakery down the road which is well worth a try too. Also very friendly service. A perfect stop over especially on a drive from Canberra to Sydney.

Lovely sunny street side cafe. Delicious, fluffy & fresh scones with cream and jam. Yummy quiches and cakes.

Such a wonderful cafe with gorgeous food and staff. Berrima is so lucky to have you guys. Highly recommended.

A really delicious range and cakes and great coffee. The cooked food at other tables looked appetising.

We are regulars to Berrima and oddly haven't tried the General store until yesterday - no points for guessing we wont be back.

Bill shock, no prices on anything - a bland half roast veggie wrap $15, ham and cheese croissant $12, an underwhelming pie meat $7.5, and a second meat pie which tasted like it was filled with the burned bottom pot scrapes - was thrown away after one bite. All up $48 so either they cant add or there was a $6 Sunday takeaway surcharge.

I really don't understand how a cafe owner can present this as value while keeping a straight face - with premium prices and a lack of care taken with how the food tastes. There is too much competition in Berrima for places like this to exist so with luck more honest reviews may start to provide the owner with some motivation to do better or get out of town.

Disgraceful.

Worst place to eat ever! DO NOT GO! Food tastes like garbage & they charge excessive amount. Staff is absolutely rude & thinks they are the best place to eat in Berrima. We paid $25 for each individual order & left the food after just taking one bite. Not just food even the ambience is awful & depressing!

For the food served, it’s definitely over priced…. The worse thing was that there was even a piece of “hair” stuck on the mushroom in my plate. Very disappointing!

Lovely cafe, friendly male staff member, the female seemed a bit grumpy. Just ordered coffee and coffee was pretty good.

We had the vegetarian quiche, chicken pie, carrot cake and coffees. Everything was delicious.
Only issue our orders were all mixed up.

This was during Easter long weekend. Extremely busy and food presentation and quality was very low. Bakery items looked fresh.
