Before Birth & Beyond

Dr Alexandra McRae was referred to us by a close friend who had a great experience.

We are older parents and we wanted to make sure we leave no stone unturned through the pregnancy and that we are fully equipped with all the information we need to have a good pregnancy and the best possible delivery of our baby.

Our daughter is now 12 weeks. She is healthy and we are really happy.

We found Dr McRae to be highly intelligent, thorough and very supportive through the entire process. This is our first child so there were lots of new things for us to learn. Dr McRae prepared us well and nothing was a surprise.

My wife wanted a natural birth. In the end the baby's head was measuring in the 95th percentile. Dr McRae took us through the details of the options and we opted to get a planned C-Section at Mater Hospital.

The surgery was the most organized and smoothly executed medical procedure I have ever witnessed in my life. There were 8 people in the operation theatre. They were all very calm and confident and super friendly. When our daughter was born we were filled with so many emotions and I couldn't stop thanking Dr McRae.

If we have another baby, we are definitely going to Dr McRae again!

We had the best experience with Dr Alex, and a much better experience the second time round giving birth. She was professional yet not too serious which we loved and aligned with our personalities. Very open in her communication and most importantly did an amazing job on my elected c section and the scar after. Even the nurses in the hospital commented on how well she stitched it up and to this day I have no lumps of bumps. Thank you Alex

From the moment we met Alex we knew we were in good hands. I felt very supported throughout the pregnancy and birth of my sons. Alex answered all our questions and was always very attentive and professional. I always felt like she did everything she could possibly do to help and guide me through my pregnancies and always went above and beyond. Alex was my obstetrician for 2 pregnancies, as well as my gynaecologist previous to that. I can't recommend her highly enough! She went above and beyond her role as an obstetrician and acted as my advocate when I was back in hospital with severe mastitis 3 weeks postpartum.

Her care during pregnancy & birth reflected evidence-based healthcare but with an empathetic & understanding view. She guided me every step of the way and answered the million questions I had for her. She always had time for me & showed a genuine interest in my pregnancy journey. I've already recommended her to every pregnant person I know and will continue to do so!

When I first met Dr Mcrae by chance at RNS, I instantly knew she was the obstetrician for me. I didn’t even bother looking at other obstetricians. I had such a wonderful experience in both preparing for and welcoming my first child into the world and so much of that is due to the impeccable service and support of Dr Mcrae. My partner and I are beyond grateful for her devotion and ongoing commitment to her patients during pregnancy, birth and after care. I hope I am lucky enough to have Dr Mcrae by my side for every baby we welcome into our family!

Alex was amazing and I'd strongly recommend her. Being pregnant for the first time can be quite overwhelming and she provided me the guidance I needed in my journey with her diligence, honestly and kindness. I couldn’t recommend Dr McRae highly enough. She has helped me through what has been a bit of a pregnancy journey, with some challenges on the way. Dr McRae approaches her work with dedication, positivity, skill and confidence and I always felt that my baby and I were in very safe hands. I couldn’t recommend Alex enough. The standard of care we received from her was second to none and from start to finish she went above and beyond the call of duty. She is genuine, warm, empathic and has a great sense of humour. She listens carefully and communicates well and I felt really well informed when it came to the birth. She was fantastic during the delivery and thanks to her I had a really calm and positive birthing experience of my little boy and an easy recovery. Will definitely be coming back to her for our second!

Dr Alex McRae has delivered both our children with care and professionalism with a side of fun. She always made us feel at ease throughout our pregnancies and was very thorough in ensuring the health of mum and bubs. Dr. McRae’s careful monitoring of me after my waters unexpectedly broke meant she picked up on distress cues from my baby that the midwives missed. I cannot really explain in a review how lucky I was to have her as my doctor. Dr. McRae was incredibly comforting throughout my pregnancy, but also (and especially) during my risky birth. Beyond her diligence and bedside manner, my c section scar has healed impeccably. It is so clean and well done, it is barely noticeable.

I cannot recommend Dr. McRae highly enough. I would trust her with my daughters life 1000 times over and will trust her with all of my future pregnancies.

Alex was absolutely incredible in ensuring a safe, quick and amazing delivery of our baby girl. For me, I wanted an honest and helpful doctor - Alex was exactly this. She was there to guide me through the whole process and left me feeling confident and happy right up until our baby was born. Where it counted most (the birth) Alex was the real superstar.
