Bay Run reviews
39 This run is beautiful during the day and night. However if I were to run I'd choose night time as it's less crowded.
My only complaint is how narrow the walkways are for pedestrians. The pavement is divided in half for cyclists and half for others. Which unfortunately doesn't leave enough room for the walkers and runners sometimes.
Especially since the bay run is getting more well-known and crowded. I've seen cyclists get grumpy when people go onto the cycling lane. However sometimes there's simply not enough room for two way traffic of runners and walkers.
One of my favourite water-side walks in Sydney, I love bringing my dog with me. It’s well lit at night in most parts, has great sunsets, easily accessible by light rail with multiple parking options available too. I always feel safe walking alone any time of day there. Sometimes it kinda smells during low tide but that’s to be expected.
There are also lots of cool little spots off the beaten path along the bay run! Fun for everyone:)
A very popular walking/running/biking route that's 7km full-circle.
It can get quite crowded, and it feels a little bit like running on a very large track. If you're a cyclist, don't expect to go too fast (even though much of the run has dedicated bike lanes) because there are always heaps of people dodging each other and popping into the wrong lane.
Bubblers: quite a few along the route
Mostly marked on Maps.
Montage and Haberfield Rowing Club (the outdoor kiosk) are the ones directly on the route.
Very flat without shade, so if you're looking for variety in incline, then this won't work but good for a nice flat, easy walk. Also, highly recommend sun coverage and water as there is little reprieve from the heat or direct rays.
Beautiful place to go for a run. The water views are hard to beat. There is a bit of a salty, brine-y smell because of the build up of rubbish beside the dam, and there can be a few pelicans out and about, but if you're expecting a bit of peace and quiet, you'll enjoy it here. Plus, they have a lot of food options scattered along the run if you need a sweet treat.
I travel a round trip of 90kms from my home to exercise here and do it at least 6 days a week. It's a great place to exercise and great atmosphere. Highly recommend
Great walk. They should have made wider paths though - some places are just too narrow with steep drop during busy times a bit dangerous with pedestrians and bike riders both ways.
Also changing sides at narrow points with bikes and pedestrians and dogs on lead is dangerous - this could be improved
Great, flat, fast run. One loop is 7km, twi loops is city2surf and 3 loops is half marathon.
Avoid low tide as it gets a little smelly but still a good view
Fantastic walk / running / cycling track around the bay. It’s just over 7km and really quite a nice area of the inner west.
Great veiw and atmosphere for a walking or cycling. This is one of my favourites!
Warning to cyclist it can get quite busy on the weekend with foot traffic in the way and children on bikes
Bit smelly at low tide and water can get murky. Feels like your walking around a pond! If you want to see a real Bay Run the one on Botany Bay between Kyeemagh and Sandringham is much superior with crystal clear water, fresh air and expansive views of the Bay and Beach!
Beautiful views and really nice uninterrupted walk way. No crossing roads or anything.
Also there is parallel bike track that crosses the foot path sparingly.
Very relaxing place to walk, run or bike
Flat, circuit walk with water views throughout. Paved. Watch out for cyclists even if they do have their own lane. Views of parklands. Some nice houses to drool over close to the water. There are a few places to eat or drink at if you wish. Usually very popular- best to go at either end of the day when it’s not busy. It’s about a 6.5 km circuit.
Solid place to exercise and burn some carbs. Parts of the path near and around Callan Park can be a bit inconsistent and broken so be careful at night if cycling or running. Also the the path for the intended use of walking and cycling are mixed around throughout but it is easy to overlook if you have eyes.
When you come here at night, most beautiful place on the planet, lights in the tress and excellent scenery.
Full of people. It is great to see so many people out and about during lockdown to exercise. Better this than getting fat.
Great for an early morning cycle, early evening mosey, a run or other exercise! The entire circuit has some hills!
A perfect place to walk, run, ride or stroll! The best view on sunny days to get your daily exercise and heart rate pumping. The kind of place people take for granted and other people wish they had!
Nice waterviews for the entire walk, great for dogs and great for everyone. Easy and flat walk, suitable for all. Public gym equipment and playgrounds along the way.
The Bay Run is one of my favourite places in Sydney for sooo many reasons, just come walk, jog, run, look, listen.
