Richard was great, he took his time to find the perfect result for my new contacts and glasses. He told me things about my eyesight that no optometrist had ever mentioned to me before. I highly recommend Richard.

Snapped my lenses in the centre by accident and went into their store. Huxley helped out and fixed it within 5 minutes. Lifesaver!

Providing for myself and my wife.
My wife convinced me to go and I’m happy I did. Very friendly and approachable staff members. The assistant helped me and my wife find frames to suit our faces and 1 pair of my glasses came earlier so I was able to get them very quickly. These are the best glasses I have ever had. My wife is waiting for hers as she went in at a different time. She has had many glasses in the past and has always been very happy with the service and quality of the frames.

Love Bailey Nelson because they use really high quality acetate to make their frames. Love that they are also polarised and decently priced. Feels like old school high quality eyewear as opposed to mass produced cheap plastic. I have several pairs of BN sunglasses including Joyce, Harvey, Harvey Large, Senna II and Miller. Over the years, I have shopped at the Macquarie, Newtown, Castle Hill and City store, all have had good customer service.

Having had to wear glasses/contact lenses for over 40 years, it was refreshing to find an optometrist who actually cared about your vison and the health of your eyes. I have now taken the rest of my family to see Amira and the staff at Bailey Nelson. The staff are professional and very helpful, even during Covid times, I was able to get my glasses sent directly to my home when I couldn't physically get to the store.

I have visited this store 3 times to get some new prescription glasses and an eye check up.

My first visit was very lovely. I was greeted by the store manager (Anna). She placed me in their system alongside the styles of glasses I was interested. Then I was booked in for an appointment for my eye check up with their optometrist the following Wednesday.

Unfortunately when I came in for my eye check up, I did not have the same experience. I arrived 10mins early to fill out their questionnaire. The optometrist (Amira) took me in and asked me questions about where I get my contact lenses. I told her I got mine from a trusted website that I've been buying from for years. I was nothing short of lectured and borderline berated as if I was in kindergarten because she doesn't believe in buying your contacts online. While I understand that what she was telling me was true, the way I was spoken to was unprofessional. Never in my previous experiences with medical practitioners have I been treated like that, especially on the first visit. I ended up agreeing to scheduling an eye contact trial, out of feeling pressured, paying for my prescription glasses and left displeased.

On my third visit to pick up my glasses, Anna was working (thankfully). As I walked in she greeted me again very lovingly. She showed me my glasses and adjusted them to my requests. I explained to her that I wanted to give some customer feedback regarding my experience with their optometrist and she handled it professionally. I explained what happened and she was understanding and apologetic. She advised me she would have a chat with her. I asked Anna to change my optometrist for my eye contact lense trial, and she advised it's okay to do so and provided some solutions. I was impressed with how she handled this as this wasn't positive feedback.

All in all my experience was good. I'm sure if Anna was my optometrist I would be giving this store 5 stars. But they only have a 2nd optometrist working every 2nd Sunday which i'm unable to attend.

5 stars for Anna. 1 star for everything else.

Feeling like you can no longer put up with that progressively blurrier vision that you have tried to ignore because you don’t want to go back to that “other optical retail chain” ever again? That one that made you feel like you were less of a person and more part of a herd of captured customer data that they needed to push through as quickly as possible with hidden extra charges? And when you get home you realised they used sleight of hand to give you a hideously bright orange glasses case that they hid in the bag before handing it to you? Finally, did you feel the sheer terror of realising that you somehow agreed to buy real nerd glasses, not “cool nerd” ones and they didn’t care enough to stop you? If so, it’s time to meet the crew at Bailey Nelson Macquarie Centre. They are true professionals, make you feel good, their frames are very stylish and their tasteful glasses cases are on display for all to see!

It's a nice store and all of the the staff are warm and professional.

The first thing I noticed was that Bailey Nelson had a brightly lit and spacious store with a minimalist-yet-warm and very positive vibe. I was cheerfully greeted by the manager Anna, who explained the appointment process to me. I recommend opting for the retinal imaging eye health check in addition to the standard eye test.

The optometrist and tests were a very positive experience.

Amira was the optometrist who dealt with me, using state of the art equipment. Trust me when I say that Amira is a genuine expert. She listened to my questions, and came up with options that showed she knew exactly what I needed. For example, I asked for reading glasses that allowed a focal area of greater distance than usual, to deal with three different multiple computer screen setups. At  the "other optical retail chain" a few years ago, the person I dealt with refused to go any further than 50 cm. This was not a problem for Amira, who suggested an Office Lens for both close-up reading and distances of a metre or so.

With the health check, Amira clearly explained what she was looking for in the images that had been taken. I am a teaching academic and was very impressed with her ability to not just understand my needs, but to also explain things clearly in a way that indicated that she’d very accurately worked out my level of understanding. So, it was no surprise to find out that Amira herself teaches optometry at university. I meant it when I said she was an expert.

Choosing cool-looking specs

Once my prescriptions for the reading and normal distance/driving glasses were determined, it was back to dealing with the manager, Anna, for facial measurements. I got attached to a particular type of frame (that made me look slightly cooler than I am) and wanted both sets of spectacles to be in that style. The only issue was that they only had one available in-store, so Anna immediately got on the phone and reserved a second one at another store for me. None of this was a problem. I also met Chloe that day, and Lucy when I picked up the glasses later and had them checked for correct fitment. They were just as cheerful and professional as Anna and Amira.

I got what I required and was left with a good feeling

I am not exaggerating when I say that this was the most pleasant and productive experience I have ever had at an optometrist. From the first impression, to the eye assessments, the choosing of  frames and picking them up, I always felt that I was in good hands with a bunch of people that worked very well as a team and knew how to help me to get the best prescriptions for my needs.

The frame on my glasses snapped. It was a clean break as I was wearing them on my face. The customer service was very much lacking, three staff members standing around, no one apologised or even offered to assist. I had to explain the issue and all they said was “well it’s titanium so it shouldn’t do that” well it did, so the frames obviously faulty, yet they still charged me $100 to replace the frame which seems ridiculous given it’s $199 for two new pairs and I’m not replacing the lenses just the frame, I paid the $100 and will not buy another two pairs and will go elsewhere next time.

I visited Bailey Nelson at Maquirie for the first time and my eyes were examined by a very kind and efficient lady by the name of Amira. I found Amira to be caring, efficient and professional who knew what she was doing. I was very impressed by her kind attitude and work. Certainly she is a real asset to your enterprise. The other staff members also displayed professionalism.
