Nice bakery. Lady working there was very nice. Tried the Paris Brest as a snack and it was delicious.

Josh - After exploring the town I saw a man with a pie and that got me feeling like one, so after a short search in Merimbula we found the Bakehouse. A cute little shop with the most lovely and polite lady who served us. I got a plain pie (nothing beats it) and a caramel hedgehog which was also really good in the afternoon as a treat.

Bella - I hadn’t had a sausage roll in ages and we stumbled upon this little bake house so we decided to give it a try. The food was amazing and service was lovely.

Josh & Bella - This wonderful bake house was exactly what we were looking for on a relaxing Monday. Next time we are here we shall definitely stop by again and try a few more of your treats and pies/sausage rolls

Magnificently friendly service. The lady here was just so lovely cheery and helpful. We were on the road and famished and we just wanted a quick snack. The lady made us a very nice chicken and salad roll despite it being after 3pm, and my wife also grabbed a Portuguese tart to go. We also had a coffee each. The food and coffee were both great and were much appreciated.

This is a lovely place. We witnessed lots of love from locals who wandered in while we were there, but the people here were also very nice to blow ins like us. With such good food, coffee and service, it is no wonder Backstreet Bakehouse is so highly rated.

Love this bakery, bread is the best in town by a country mile. Staff are knowledgeable friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit if you can find them as they are not on the main street!

I live in Houston, TX. I contacted Jo to make and deliver a cake for a dear family member in Merimbula. She went above and beyond. The cake looked amazing and I hear tasted the same. She made out a card to go with the cake which is such a personal touch! I highly recommend Backstreet Bakehouse!

Nice fresh food, chunky steak pie and the caramel custard eclair I had were very good and tasty, there is plenty of good choices including salad rolls and sandwiches and a choice of drinks. Prices are good. When I visit Merimbula I always make sure to drop in and grab some lunch, the staff are friendly and welcoming too which is great.

My favourite cafe and bakery in Merimbula, the coffee is Superb the cakes are to die, the staff are great and I am addicted to the Danish Pastries which are doing very little for my waistline. Very reasonably priced which is rare on the far south coast. My tip is to get in early if your after Sourdough or Danishes.

Have tried the various bakeries available in the area & surrounds but keep coming back to Backstreet Bakehouse. Extremely friendly staff & bread that is just beautifully baked, try the baguettes for lunch & take a sour dough rye home for breakfast toast you won't be disappointed. Lovely cakes as well!

We preordered cupcakes. Thank goodness Jo was able to answer our orders. My son wanted rainbow buttercream and Jo did it! We will come back to try their pastries. The reply was slow but they follow up.

Visited Merimbula last week fishing, usually would have visited the bakery on the main street for my early morning pie but it had burnt down! But I thank my lucky stars I found this hidden gem, this has to be my favourite bakery in Australia let alone Merimbula, and it was open at 5.30am the pies are simply the best I have ever tasted, I eat here every day for a week and consider myself an addict now. I cannot wait to get back down to Merimbula for another pie or 10! Next trip.

Very disappointing range of breads. Not even a simple sourdough loaf! You force me to Woolworths which has a good range of breads but I want to support a local!

Best Bakery in Merimbula hands down! The Danishes are simply to die for. The Baker an English gentleman called Dave was just about the funniest and friendliest guy I think I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, and really knew his stuff. Great food and atmosphere, thumbs up to you guys!

This bakery would appear to have recently been sold, the old owners had really let the place slide, and the display cabinets were virtually empty at times, On my last visit this month however I found that new life has been put into the place and the Backstreet Bakehouse is back to it's former glory. Pies are the best in town and the bread is simply awesome, Congratulations to the new owners and thanks for saving this Merimbula Icon.
