Backspace Living - Head Office

My husband and I are tenants in Lake Macquarie who have been living in a build of Backspace Living. For the last 8 months we have experienced ongoing internal water intrusion and now dealing with mould and wood root due to the incorrectly constructed windows of the dwelling. Silicon was never used to ensure this build was watertight.  Furthermore, all fly screens have large gaps that let bugs in all the time and our shower drain has seemed to collapse due to poor quality screeding.

Backspace Living was initially difficult to get a hold of and did not follow through many times with sending someone out in the specified time frames. We are yet to see this ongoing issue be rectified. We hope that you would never have to experience this for yourself.

I had an incredible experience with backspace. They not only met my expectations but exceeded them by going above and beyond in every aspect. The result they delivered is absolutely phenomenal. I couldn't be happier with their service!

Thank you Dale and team:) From our initial consultation with James to the hand over of our beautiful uniquely designed Backspace Granny (or posh designer studio apartment) the team at backspace listened to what we wanted and designed exactly what was in our heads. Full size kitchen and bathroom, spacious lounge and bedroom. An amazing colour scheme that will last the test of time. Fantastic investment.good rental $$$ and when we are ready to down size we have a beautiful new home to move into. Fantastic tradesmen. No problems with the build. Very happy:) would recommend to anyone. A quality build.

Happy with the end product, but it took well over the estimated time to complete. There were a lot of mistakes made along the way, but they were fixed with no issue. A lot of delays also. I would keep note of inclement weather days so that they can honour their agreement where they pay rent if it goes over the 12 week schedule. Once finished though we've had no issues and the house is great.

We are part way through our build with Backspace, and its all been positive, the initial meeting with Trent, the ability to modify the designs and selections and the builders have also been great.

Product looks impressive. What can make this company more successful is if they improved their post-construction service. Phone calls and emails asking to repair defects should not be ignored or left unanswered as that just breeds frustration. As an investor (and their client), that has not been helpful and prevents me from recommending Backspace Living to friends and colleagues with any sense of sincerity.
Tim and Trent both need to take their clients' calls seriously by acknowledging their receipt at the very least and not humiliate them through repeated unanswered calls. This sadly has been my worst and only frustration that makes me want to look elsewhere for future projects. Happy to come back if that behaviour of neglect is changed.

I Couldn't recommend backspace more! Before choosing our granny flat I knew very little about them. The backspace team were very helpful and delivered everything on time and budget. We are currently leasing our grannyflat for $380 a week which way above what we thought we originally get. Couldn't be happier!
