Astute Architectural Drafting

We approached Astute drafting after many failed attempts to work with a designer willing to negotiate on our behalf with council. Being on a non standard land that was previously sub divided, we encountered many issues and were primarily pushed towards a cdc route, no doubt making the designers work easier, but wouldn’t have achieve what we wanted.

Right from our first conversation, Chris took the time to understand not only the technicalities of our build, but also assured us that he’s comfortable liaising with council to achieve our dream home. Both Dre and Chris exceeded our expectations with the design, and their knowledge of the industry is outstanding. They were comfortable negotiating non-compliant items and never shied away from emphasising the reason for non compliance, even when that meant scheduling meetings with the case manager’s lead. Their persistence resulted in our DA being approved, something that we will forever be grateful for.

Astute Drafting is definitely a company I would recommend to anyone pursuing their dream home. They are patient (even with my crazy feng shui ideas), extremely creative, fearless in their pursuit to achieve the best for their client, and humble at the same time. Chris and the team at Astute were simply amazing! They designed sleek, quality plans for our tiny home. The design has added space and flow to a dark and poorly designed semi. Our plans were almost thwarted by a neighbouring dispute, that while bearing no substance caused some unnecessary anxiety. Chris, in his typical professional approach dealt with council and made small but significant suggestions that meant our plans were approved without further issue. Furthermore, before we engaged Astute, Chris spent a considerable amount of time explaining the process, including costs and time frames to expect along the way. Chris provided the original architectural design and worked closely with us on the development of our property in Mosman. The design was outstanding and at the same time somewhat complex. This was exacerbated by several local features including a steep sloping block, difficult access and a mature angophora tree at the front of the house that had to be protected. The application process itself was difficult and required additional architectural plans including 3D drawings to satisfy council requirements. During the build there were issues requiring Chris’s ongoing involvement. In essence he provided support throughout the entirety of the project and was always available when we needed him.
In spite of all the challenges we were able to transform our ugly duckling into a wonderful house that is beyond our expectations in terms of amenity and quality of life that it delivers to our family. We are proud of the fact that with the support team, including Astute Architectural Drafting, we converted a very modest 2 bed red brick veneer 1950’s house into a modern 3 level residence that sits comfortably in the streetscape. The finished product is an absolute pleasure to live in and we constantly get positive and at times flattering feedback from visitors and friends alike.
