Ashfield Medical Centre

I experienced a consult with Dr. Birra today and she is downright rude and impolite. I maintained a very calm and respectful manner of talking with her throughout the whole ordeal in hopes she would realize the mismatch in communication yet she remained condescending. All I got from that consult are "What's this" "I don't know this" "I don't have time for this" she doesn't even take the time to look and read the health records that I presented to her. She's being paid for her consult and she's treating the patient like her own personal secretary. Even if you presented the paper in front of her she expects you to point at the exact part that she needs and read it out loud.

Prior to stepping inside the office of this very rude doctor, I was very specific in asking the reception about the service that I need which is have a GP confirm my immunisation records, I also presented to them my records which they reviewed and deemed that I proceed with the consult.

In the end, I got nothing out of it. I just wasted money on consultation and they mispelled my name in the referral and invoice which goes to show that they don't really read your records properly. How could you not verify atleast the spelling of a patient's name. There's also my health records on fine print for referrence.

To end this review I have to say, if you cannot help the patient with what they need after they paid for their consult atleast offer them a little courteousness. If you think your patient is wrong or misinformed then do patient education. Healthcare is a very demanding job but it shouldn't be an excuse to not uphold empathy and tactfulness.

I came in today 28 12 at 11: 20. The older receptionist is so rude. I was asking if I have to pay as I have not visited the centre for so long, she was so unfriendly and showed me annoyed face, very impolite. When she said I have to pay, I need to say no as just go to my regular GP and pay as I just need script for my maintenance. Her fece is showing annoyance. Then she asked me about my address and it was different from what is recorded, but she did not ask for my current address I asked her to change it as I am an existing patient, she said I am not going through so there is no point to change! Huh! Isn't it that they need to update patients details? I asked if my husband needs to pay too Then she showed her annoyed face again while checking. So unpleasant to be a receptionist.

Dr Emily is the best doctor I have ever had.
She is extremely professional and as a guy I was uncomfortable going to a doctor. But doctor Emily has made me feel comfortable and I recommend her to anyone looking for a professional and reliable doctor.

If the review rating has zero or negative, this clinic will get it. I don’t know why it is still having service in ashfield. Super slow service and not polite reception. Can anyone reopen a nice one or can it shut down? No point to have such a clinic here.

I’ve been coming to this clinic for 5 years now. I’ve read the reviews and they’ve been bad but I never really had an issue so I’ve kept coming back. I see Dr Birra, she’s the only one I’ve ever seen and up until now she’s been quite good. Not the best but by far not the worst. Today I asked for an ultrasound for some injured ligaments, and a Pap smear that she told me last week I couldn’t get because I was on my period. I also wanted to ask about mental health meds if that’s something doctors take care of. And before I could finish my sentence she cuts me off and says “no more things, next time”. I just sat there feeling awkward and confused and highly uncomfortable. This is a woman that literally barely remembers a detail of your life even if she sees you semi-regularly for half a decade. It honestly turned me off so much that I wanted to write this review. There are plenty of other clinics nearby: give this one a miss.

The doctor here quacks louder than a duck, but that is as good a performance you'll get from her. Salt gargles, 8/day! That'll cure the plague.

I would definitely give NEGATIVE star if I was allowed to. Stay away from Dr. Hemalatha Birra (I’m so reluctant to address her with Dr.though) if you do value your life! She’s absolutely the most ignorant, arrogant, unhygienic and the rudest ‘doctor’ I’ve seen in my entire life. She’s not even able to identify any root cause with any basic medical knowledge or experience. She relentlessly ignored my medication history and asked me what it was for instead. I ended up being told there was no problem, however, my symptoms have been lasting almost two weeks and getting worse and worse. Moreover, no racist or offense, her horrible accent confuses people especially while wearing masks these days. Whereas, she mocks people who can barely understand her poor English and nonsense.

And further this thing of a doctor should not be practicing anywhere! What an absolute pig!

Today was my first day I got dr Birra and whilst asking for certain medical supplies she started yelling at me about her not knowing what it is, and outright refusing to try get me things I’d need for a life threatening condition. She definitely shouldn’t be allowed to be a doctor

I saw Dr Hemalatha Birra from this medical centre. She was absolutely unhelpful. She didn't get up once from her chair which was almost 3 metres away during the entire consultation and did not examine me. I basically had to examine myself. I had to prompt every part of the consultation including to ask what symptoms I should look out for, which she did not answer. Instead she asked if I have family history of particular condition and was satisfied i was at no risk just because I said no. She is dismissive and appears to have a very basic approach to medicine without capacity for analytical thinking.

Today it is my first time to go to this medical centre and also my last time. I know mandarine and the Chinese receptionist is very rude, treating me without respect, she doesn't have good spirit. Never come there again!

The receptionists gave all my private medical files out to the public and bums. Now I have people laughing and bums yeling out my medical information. I have contacted the medical board. Shame on them do Not trust this medical centre becauseof the receptionist. Very unprofessional. These receptionists have ruined my life. I had to give a report to the police station as I got spat on by a man covered in dirt yelling out my medicalcondition wich is on file only. I got spat on by a dirty man that was yelling my medical record! All this because I asked the receptionist why is she leaving scrips and private files out on top of the storage table for at least 5 minutes and wrote a signed document to not give my medical details out as I was going for a important job.
They decided to get revenge.

I’ve been here a few times and each time have gotten Dr. Birra who is unknowledgeable and never has any solutions about what to do about my medical issues. I’m not sure what the point of her job is if she doesn’t even know how to give basic medical advice.

I respect the viewpoint of other reviewers, but it seems cowardly for me to NOT come on here and review this medical centre as my experiences were so different to others'. Not only was the location super convenient (in the Ashfield mall with its 2 hour free parking), I found the receptionists lovely and I consulted Dr Birra twice and found her friendly and fine. One of the consultations was at the surgery for a mental health referral and she passed with flying colours.

The next consult was a couple of months later (January of this year) when I was visiting Sydney (having moved back interstate) and in a hotel in agony with an infected toe. Dr Birra was the only GP who could fit me in for a telehealth appointment in time for me to get to the nearest pharmacy by Uber before closing time to get antibiotics. In fact, she rang me back within one hour of me ringing the surgery for help.

So I had two fuss-free appointments with her (bulk billed) and would not hesitate to go back when in Sydney again if I need a GP.

I saw this doctor Hemalatha Birra, she is prejudiced against rainbow families as well as ageist, misogynistic and rude. Really upsetting appointment, will never use their so called medical services again.

Echoing comments here, reception is dismissive and cold. However, the pathology department were very professional and efficient, particularly the Caucasian brunette lady (I missed her name tag unfortunately).

during covid19 insisted I don’t sit on a seat which they have clearly marked pls don’t not sit here but instead a seat which is “safe” however right next to another patient with only a dividing draw between us - way to go for social distancing. When telling the receptionist why I chose to sit next to my family member I was accompanying she glared at me and said very rudely “ok I will fix it”

I have seen Dr Daisy For many many years here and she is very professional and knowledgeable.the Nurse is very friendly and nice however the western reception is very rude and cold, doesnt even look at you when you ask a question

I wish I could give minus rate. Dr Dachuan GAO is rude and unprofessional. He doesn’t care about the patient’s previous medical history and says he doesn’t understand my medical reports. What? And he just prescribed another test for me to do! He is careless and cold and doesn’t even bother to answer patient’s concerns. Never never will go back to see him ever.

My visit to this medical center was atrocious. The doctor named Dr. Guo cannot even fill out a form correctly. It takes him at least 5 mins to answer one question. I am not sure if these doctors at Ashfield are English competent. Please get better ones as the doctors previously there were amazing. The standard has just fallen off the roof and I will not be coming back at all.
