Arakoon National Park reviews
25One of our favourite places on the Mid North Coast. We prefer National Parks because the campgrounds are never overcrowded, the bush is left natural and the wildlife is all around you - probably because dogs are not allowed. The beach is the perfect distance for cycling from one end to the other, or simply to go for a stroll, a swim and enjoy all year round.
Beautiful, picturesque landscape. Great snorkelling, we saw dolphins and turtles. Recommend a wet suit as can get chilly in the deeper water. Safe, crystal clear and shallow swimming closer to shore. The gaol is definitely worth a visit. Many kangaroos around which are domesticated.
What a fantastic national park. The camp grounds are up there with the best premium parks, and the views! The goal and lighthouse were great Family friendly attractions
Pristine beaches and the old gaol ruins with a campground on site, various size sites, some with power and some without. Some overlooking the beach and others back a little bit and with shade trees. Facilities are basic but clean with toilets and showers. Book on line with NSW national Parks.
Quick stop on our way through
Very picturesque
Will definitely be planning a holiday here in the near future
Lots to see and do here, plenty of walks, good facilities and fantastic ocean views. Will come back for a better look around.
See the whales from some great vantage spots, fish or spear off the rocks below, walk up monument hill. It's a beautiful spot
Beautiful National Park. The beaches are so clean. Camping area available as well as dog on and off leash areas on the beach. Locals were friendly.
Just WOW. The most amazing water/beaches I've seen in a while. A must place to visit or camp!
The video explained the history of the facility. Well worth watching.
The ruins are well presented and maintained.
Lovely beach and beautiful water.
Very limited picnic tables or seat, limited shade areas,
Parking crazy busy
What a beautiful unspoilt Place so much to enjoy the Sea watching Dolphins and Whales, Wallaby's grazing Walking tracks Camping etc
Great little hidden gem on the north coast. Not to many people and plenty of great little things to see and enjoy. Allow a full day to cruise around this great little spot
Stunning views of the Pacific Ocean from the walking tracks, which traverse various coastal vegetation types. Offers great birdwatching and whale watching opportunities. The granitic geology also adds to the natural interest.
Blissful place for quiet walks, long beaches, wildlife and ocean watching. I swam in the bay, ate local caught fish, joined the Dunecare group and removed bitou, watched whales and slept soundly. Nothing else needed really. Oh- and read a book. Stayed at Arakoon House- local history.
Great campground, very civilised at Trial beach, lots to see and so. Only disappointment was not getting to do Twilight tour, online system just didnt work, tried about 20X. Bookings werent taken in person. Go figure?
Did the smoke lighthouse to little bay walk. First 2 kms were nice but after that, alot of steep climbs and descents. Not that enjoyable all round.
One of my favourite beach in South West Rocks, the beach is super clean and not too busy. The sand is soft and it's very relaxing to just have a walk in the morning and or afternoon. When the water is not too cold, I always have a dip in the water. It's refreshing!
Pet is not allowed in most of national park including Arakoon. Public rest area is available, there are many picnics table in the area and always kids playground. It's family friendly.
Loved the beautiful beaches and free roaming kangaroos, who seemed to take human presence in their stride, happily posing for photographs without interrupting their lunch. The history of Trial Bay and the attempted construction of a breakwater with convict labour makes for interesting reading, with the historic gaol on the hill overlooking the bay open for tours. The front beach is shallow and calm, and round the corner the waves crashing against the rocks make for great photo moments.
