Ken came out to check on a suspected rising damp issue I had in an old federation house in Haberfield. I had recently painted a wall and the paint started bubbling. Ken spent over an hour assessing the situation (crawling under the house and inspecting the external and internal walls). He was hesitant in drilling and injecting anti damp cream into a single brick wall that was adjacent to the bathroom as he may have hit a water pipe. This could have been disastrous but his better judgement prevailed. Other cowboys would have immediately drilled into the wall and charged me for it. In order to mitigate future issues with dampness, he closed off 2 vents in the room that act to circulate mould spores and added 2 larger sub floor vents to the external wall to circulate air under the house. He provided plenty of advice on how to rectify the issue (eg using an epoxy moisture barrier painted onto the wall) without injecting cream into the wall. Very knowledgeable and fair. Definitely recommend.

Barry was responsive and gave us a comprehensive quote. Took time to come and visit and diagnose the issue and gave good advice about how to rectify, with multiple approaches with how to resolve our damp issues. Ken and his team came and did the rectification works. They were tidy, on time, quick, and clearly took pride in their work. They made a couple of recommendations to prevent the issue recurring and went out of their way to find some vents that matched our architecture. We really liked this team's integrity, reliability, responsiveness and good quality work. Highly recommended.

Barry came over to give us sound advice on our mould problem in our crawlspace. Soon after, Ken attended to create some vents on our property. He was a true professional, takes great care in his work and the final result shows. Do you remember the quote in Redfern? I was running late and gave you substantial notice by text I would be 15 minutes.
On arrival I did not see anyone and made around 6 calls to 3 numbers I had but there was no answer.
I wonder if you considered the tenant you spoke to, may have thought you were there to fix the tiles, as he complained to the agency about them.
Did it occur to you that you could have called me to clarify, or return one of the six calls I made to three different numbers to try and speak to you?
Are you aware the tenant has zero practical understanding of how to repair anything?
In hindsight, do you think the tenant really understood what you were there to do, even if you introduced yourself correctly?
Did it occur to you that the tiles may have fallen off because the walls were so wet?
Whilst looking at the tiles you were there to repair, did you turn your head ever so slightly, and look at the other wall?
Attached to this email are images showing the wall near the said tiles. I unfortunately did not have an image of the worst wall, which you walked directly past, and you of course saw nothing.
It would have been really nice to know that I did not have to make a round trip of 70 minutes, wasting my time and petrol.

Highly recommended! Barry helped us out with two property pre-purchase inspections, and gave us very valuable insights into the property's key issues, and advice on how to handle those issues if we went ahead with the purchase. We avoided 1 property with major structural defects because of Barry's findings (the vendor's own property and pest report did not flag the issue). A source of trusted and sensible advice. Very good at diagnosing a problem relating to damp, and of advising on practical solutions. Anti-damp put in a damp course for us a decade ago, after persistent problems that we couldn't fix. That damp course fixed the problem and continues to work, despite heavy rains and a sandstone foundation. We recommend Barry very highly.

We were alerted to some potential Rising Damp symptoms on a property we were in the process of purchasing. Barry was responsive, and clearly an expert in his field and was able to correctly identify the cause near immediately.

He inspected the remainder of the property and provided some additional advice and insight to how potential damp and water issues can happen, and what to look out for in the future if we were to purchase again or start looking at any extensions/renovations.

I called Barry and explained to him our lateral damp issue and he suggested to use a dehumidifier first for 3 months before considering any other expensive solutions as it could easily solve our issue.

He could have come down and quoted us thousands of dollars to install damp proofing like others did, but instead he was honest and suggested what would be best for us.

If this doesn’t tell you how honest and genuine this guy is then I don’t know what else would.

Barry should be the first person you call if you have structural damp issues.
