AJ's Automotive Tyre and Mechanical

I got a flat tyre on a Friday and asked if I could bring it in for a repair. I also needed to book my car in for a service and rego check later in the month. Since I was already there I asked if they could do it all in one visit. They agreed, even on short notice and on a Friday as well!

These guys were fantastic and fitted us in on short notice. I will be using them for my servicing needs in future.

I had AJ service my car for some 3 years. After which the the water pump leaked, and AJ replaced it. 18 months later, the water pump failed with only 9500 km. I returned my car for AJ to review only to be told out of warranty. Unfortunately, he would not replace under Customer Guarantee had to go to NCAT for a resolution which took some 6 months. Not only did it take a tribunal to resolve, but I found out that the water pump had a recommended retail of $700 AJ charged over $920.00 plus labour. Hence, now go to a different automotive service, so please check your CUSTOMER GUARANTEE RIGHTS through your ACCC.

Here we go again you make it sound that this situation was not your fault you acted like a young school boy that doesn’t take any responsibility for their action. I had taken my car back to you, as you were the one that provided the service and parts and charged according. You were the one that told me that it was not in the 12-month warranty. Now let me repeat myself, not for benefit to you as you didn’t wish to hear this even in the Tribunal but for the readers.
ACCC Act 1. What if the warranty has expired? If a product turns out to be defective, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund under the consumer guarantees. This applies regardless of whether the product is still under warranty.
2. A warranty is a voluntary promise offered by a person or business who sold the product or service to you. Warranty is separate from automatic consumer guarantees. If you have a valid claim for refund, repair or replacement, the store must handle your claim. They generally cannot insist you deal directly with the manufacturer, even if your claim falls under a manufacturer’s warranty.
You made NO effort to resolve this issue for 6 months (refer to point 2.) not until I had taken you to the Tribunal and even at that time you took the easy way out and still claim out of warranty and wanted to charge your customer.
I will say that up until this point I was relatively a long-time loyal customer even recommending you and I would have expected that you would look after my interest to the law. When push comes to shove you are just a used car sales man in for the quick buck and to hell with your customer if things go wrong.
Finally, if you wish to have loyal customers you must show loyalty, have a back bone, have ethics, be honourable don’t be so quick to dump them just because thing got a little too hard, the customer pays for your business and now you have two less cars to maintain.

By far the most honest and capable auto mechanic in the area, highly recommended these guys.

Anthony is a very nice and friendly guy! He replied my enquire very quickly and explained everything I needed about the blue slip. Great service! I recommend and would definitely go back.

We're new to AJ's and the neighbourhood. Anthony was very nice to work with. We booked a service about 2 weeks in advance. Easy drop off, lots of space in his yard, and street parking. 9: 30am drop off, and by 11: 30 an update, and ready to pick up by 1pm. Picked up, oil changed, filters changed overall the car runs well. I spoke to AJ about new Tyres and get some recommendations, and also booked in a further service to get my AC compressor fixed, so stay tuned for a follow review. All in all, Anthony communication was great. Always good to support local owner operator's!

Adam from AJ's just replaced and fixed our AC, cool air again and well before the summer. He was great to explain and even show me the old part and explained the issue. The guys at AJs are great, again highly recommended.

I have been taking my car to AJ’s for the last 3 years and I can not recommend Anthony and his team enough. As a women who doesn’t know much about cars Anthony always takes the time to explain what needs to be fixed, why and by when. He will always call if anything comes up during the service to check if I’m happy to go ahead with the extra work and tells me how much it will cost. Great service and quality work, you can’t go wrong!

Highly recommend ajs automotive for all your car repairs. Anthony is wonderfully honest and extremely helpful. Anthony doesn't add on bs costs to make extra money. 10 out of 10 for customer service too.

AJ has been great to deal with, and has always been helpful in finding solutions and making sound recommendations when fixing/upgrading my troopy. My car has only been serviced by him (and myself) since I've owned it, and even go so far as to drive down from Newcastle (where I am living now) to have my truck serviced. Good mechanic, prices are fair, and he does good work!

Very honest and respectable person. Will not rip you off. AJ changed all my welsh plugs, did an engine flush, water pump and timing belt. Installed it all like a pro, and in a decent amount of time to. I would reccomend Ajs. Serviced my r34 skyline.

Aj is one off if not the best mechanics on the coast. Verry helpful and understanding even in desperate times. He is now my only mechanic i will see to get anything done.

Took our Ute to him after we were stuffed round by another mechanic.
Anthony was already busy but took the time to fit us in at short notice and was more then happy to do what we needed doing. He even stayed back late last night to get the job done and finished by today so we would have our car back for the weekend.
Highly recommend AJ's Automotive Tyre and Mechanical to anyone needing any work done. Extremely friendly guy and he does an excellent job and at a reasonable price. We definitely will be back in the future and will only take our cars to Anthony when we need anything done in the future.

Anthony was a lifesaver. I blew the head gaskett in my car and for 4 months it was off the road. I was getting ridiculous quotes and thought my car would never be fixed. I emailed Anthony and he was quick to respond and giving me a very reasonable quote and was able to book me in quick. Anthony also did extra work on my car and again super reasonable.he went through the details of what he was doing to my car and kept me in the loop. Definitely will be returning.

Anthony managed to fit me in at short notice to complete a full service with some extra much needed mechanical repairs, to get my newly purchased second hand Subaru XV back in top condition and ready for the daily Sydney commute. It was all done very quickly with thorough inspection, excellent communication and honest prices throughout the job. I can't recommend AJ's enough and almost don't want to! Seriously. Mechanics like this are rare these days.

Very highly recommended. I had a long standing braking issue with a BMW 520d, which was subject to multiple attempts by different mechanics/dealerships to resolve. AJ's resolved the issue permanently and cost-effectively, when others could not. Anthony is knowledgeable and easy to deal with, and invariably sees things from customers perspective. Disappointed i hadnt come to Anthony earlier.
