Adelong Creek Falls Gold Ruins reviews
69I loved it and my family came to eat chicken and we what in the water we loved it soo much go to it too it's a fun place to swim and eat.
Nice place, but be ready for some steep grades but most of the walks are on pathway with steps
Definitely worth stopping passed and walking the trail around the river. Lovely views and interesting old relics.
If you enjoy learning about our pioneering gold history then you’ll love this place. Numerous information signs go into facinating detail about the people and processes involved. There is a viewing platform close to the carpark if you are not able to manage the walkways that take you down to the creek and around the ruins.
What a beautiful place. Scenic, quiet.except for the sound of the rushing creek. Good concrete paths and steps giving excellent access to all parts, covered picnic tables, toilets and a massive mandarin tree full of fruit.
Found a geocash by accident, I am descendants of God, I am also sorry and preventive, and um awwww
Would go again they might not be tall waterfalls but still very enjoyable and the trail goes all the way into town if you wanted a little walk an to see the old gold mill ruins as well was awesome love a little bit of history
Nice bit of history to explore, be careful of your footing as you walk as it's not a regular stairs going down
Such an amazing place. Reading the plaques about the old buildings and history was really cool, make sure to fins the cottage ruins, it was a highlight. The river was so clear and beautiful. I wanted to have more time to explore down stream. It would be a great spot to visit when it's warm enough to swim
Pretty good place. Many small trails for walking/hiking around. Shows history of the Gold Rush days in the area.
Relax in the water during summer months
Paths not well labelled, no actual water falls but beautiful cascades. Perfect swimming spot and place to explore for historical and gold buffs
We called In here for a quick look and were blown away with the views of the historic site and information available to read on the history and past use of the site.
Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to do the full walk down in the creek area but would love to explore more in this area. Public toilets are available and picnic areas on site also.
Peaceful place, there was not many tourists when i visited this place. Really beautiful river with small waterfalls. Also nice place to enjoy sunset.
A scenic one hour drive from Wagga Wagga. Adelong Falls Gold Mill Ruins is a great place for a day adventure. Bring some decent walking shoes and a camera. Unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible. There are many steep steps and rocky paths.
This place is stewing in history. There are many info boards along the walk, explaining the process of how the mines operated, and with mines as intact as they are it is easy to imagine how it once was. The running water makes for a relaxing time as you walk along. Make sure to look out for small lizards, butterflies and wildlife. We even found a turtle!
Gold panning is popular and still viable. If you have the gear you might have some luck!
There is a main car park with drop toilets and some shelter.
Nice place, excellent slice of history presented in a corner of Australias landscape. Easy to access, brief visit or stay for half a day and explore. Good picnic facilites. No public BBQs
Beautiful historic area. Good safe access for pedestrians cyclists wheelchairs and prams. Though if wheeled not all tracks are accessible. Lots of great information panels to read as you go.
Remember to take a drink bottle with you as it was quite a hot wander. There are quite a few steeper parts to the track, however we navigated a majority of it easily with bikes. We walked the lower sections.
Adelong Falls is a must stop in the Riverina region. We stopped past twice while staying in Tumut. It was a quick 20 minute drive. The walk around the Falls is pretty easy for kids and adults alike and it takes around 20 minutes to get down to a large pool which is great for kids to swim in. The Falls are lovely and the history of the goldmines was interesting to our whole family.
This is a great place to stop to stretch the legs or cool off along the road to Gundagai. There is a viewing platform at the carpark overlooking the ruins. From there you can take the trail and stairs down to a number of walking tracks through the ruins and to the river at the bottom where you can plunge in for a swim.
We took the 20min walk and a quick swim before heading back up, which was a great way to break up the drive.
We found the map with the available walks on a little confusing as we ended up down at the river instead of elsewhere. Will be back though for another walk now we know what's available here.
What a change since I was last here over 40 years ago. Lots of interesting information and things to see and good walks.
