We booked the Mountain Hotel Suite expecting to be in a Hotel. However it’s a mountain resort made up of units, apartments and houses. Our Mountain Hotel Suite with promised Mountain Views was a ground floor room with a view of our car and the car for the room upstairs. It was a duplex with an adjoining door for the upstairs room.
The room itself was gorgeous, extremely well appointed but who wants to look out at their car all day? Also, there was nought in the way of privacy. To enjoy the view you would have to have the blinds open meaning anyone and everyone gets a view of you in bed.
Reception promptly closes at 5pm and there are NO PHONES in the units. So you have to go back to reception to use the phone there for after hours.
Fortunately the very lovely Bobbie (she was lovely when she checked us in, warm, kind and knowledgeable) let us back in - I note she didn’t have to do this as it was already 5.10pm
When we explained that the room wasn’t in keeping with what we were expecting, she, and her colleague from reservations, Kate, went to great lengths to move us. Whilst we offered to pay for any change/upgrade they wouldn’t hear of it - they only wanted to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable. We were moved to another unit (which was superior) but more importantly, private, quiet, and with uninterrupted mountains views. Fulfilling our expectations and more. Thank you Bobbi and Kate for making our stay so much more than it could have been.

My husband and I stayed at Jindabyne and came out to Lake Crackenback Resort for a day trip. It was FANTASTIC! The views are beautiful and the activities are great. We loved the archery setup there. The walk was so peaceful and the lunch was super delicious! The meal sizes were more than generous. Definitely worth visiting.

Great spot to stay, loads to do at the resort and a great spot to access the ski tube which is 2 mins away. They even provide a shuttle to and from the ski tube! Buffet breakfast is top notch.
Saw lots of wildlife in the walks around the property, wombats, wallabies, deer and lots of birds.
Been coming for five years and the kids have loved it too

This is the most amazing place to stay. The staff are super friendly and helpful, the rooms were great with self-contained everything, and right on the lake. We stayed at the start of winter and the snow magically arrived for us. The mountain bike tracks look great too, a summer stay would be great too. There is plenty to entertai the kids, and perfect for families. It is close enough to Jindabyne for top up supplies, and central to all the good snow places. We'd love to come back.

Its a very beautiful spot, walking and biking trails, kids activities. The bbq's are well maintained and free to use.

A beautiful resort with tonnes of activities to satisfy any outdoorsy soul.

From awesome trampolines to archery and of course a wonderful array of mountain biking trails, lake crackenback doesn't disappoint.

I've developed a love for archery while the kids have thoroughly enjoyed paddleboarding and feeding the ducks. They even learnt what to feed the ducks so not to make them sick.

The nature is just majestic and it really makes you appreciate the wonders of nature.

Be prepared to be greeted by kangaroos, emus, deers, apparently wombats but I didn't see any.

Ducks get very friendly and come looking for food daily, feed them once and you're their friend for life.

A must do trip.

Great place to stay, with lots of activities, we stayed in the mountain chalets, and the accommodation was great. Rooms were nice and clean, facilities were nice and clean, staff were friendly and helpful, highly recommended for a nice and relaxing holiday, lots of wildlife around which was somewhat majestic.

What a beautiful place! Such stunning scenery. We had a modern and comfortable 2-bedroom chalet. Staff were very helpful. So much to do - canoeing, biking, hiking. Had a wonderful stay.

Disappointing … a special occasion we thought we’d go for what we thought was the best but found a venue quite tired and limited service and food and beverage offerings… we ended up spending more time away from the hotel that on-site.

Beautiful place to spend the day. Although we didnt stay here, we were able to buy a $15 ticket which allowed us to use canoes, archery bows, trampolines all day. So lots of fun for our 2 teenagers. Also bought a nice lunch at the cafe

We made a reservation for 3 nights accommodation in June 2022 school holiday. We unfortunately couldn’t make it due to COVID. Resort gave us a credit to be used in 12 months. However, when I tried to make a new booking. I’m being told that we have to stay for minimal 4 nights in June school holiday, and extra fee for each day. The resort refused to provide a refund, however, they cannot fulfill an equivalent accommodation service. This is really disappointing and staff at reservation isn’t helpful at all.

No staff, no hospitality. Restaurant is closed and we weren’t informed about it. The only food that is available is at the cafe, and that also is extremely overpriced and just available for takeaway. 37$ for a takeaway pasta? Really?

Breakfast - Breakfast was included, but what was in the breakfast? Stale juice, dry scrambled eggs, just bread and cornflakes. No options for vegetarians or vegans. A 2-3 star property serves better breakfast.

Spa - There is no booking available in spa. There’s a high chance you’ll get any most of the time. Last time also we didn’t get any booking. We called 3 days prior to coming in here.

The chalets we were provided were subpar and old. Carpets weren’t clean properly, and it aggravated my dust and pollen allergy.

The only thing I liked about the property was archery, calm lake and mountain views.

Really disappointed.

We have been extremely disappointed by staying in the Lake Crackenback resort.
Pictures on the website and description are completely deceptive. Our 2 bedroom villa 30 required renovation many years ago. This villa is very old, unattractive and smelly. The kitchen is terrible equipped, so old, looks cheap like kitchen in a motel but in luxury resort, lack of many important things for long family stay. TV is small, nothing to watch except public channels, no music system, no dvd, nothing to do in the room after skiing. There weren't racks to dry skiing equipment. The tab in the bathroom looks like 50 years old - absolutely ugly; the shower looks the same. They don't clean the room and not changing towels. The pillows, blankets, beds are cheap or old and very uncomfortable. All furniture were absolutely worn and unpleasant. I mean literally everything was a complete disaster expect the beautiful view on the lake from the window. The swimming pool in the resort looks unattractive, boring and dirty. There was no even a stool to sit after sauna. Shower is terrible old and cheap. No drinking water provided in the gym. We ruined our ski holidays by staying at this "luxury "resort. Won't come again and don't recommend anybody to go.

Where do I start, the lake views are just amazing to wake to! So much to do for the kids. My favourite is you have all the hiking tracks at your doorstep. 10min walk to the ski tube. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Make sure to grab a few snacks or local products from their little shop. Only downside is the cafe, we grabbed some takeaway food, “olives& dip” badly overpriced because it tasted like the stuff from woolies.

Location was excellent, super convenient bus which takes you directly to and from the skitube each day. Unfortunately the rooms were quite a bit dated with broken blinds, and toilet. We stayed in a three bedroom apartment that was warm and had a lovely fireplace with complimentary firewood in winter, but a bit small for six people especially in the main living room. Would recommend for a family looking for a convenient place to stay in winter with lots of activities for kids, but not for someone looking for a luxury getaway.

This resort was quite the letdown for the price as of 2022.
- Bring your own food. The 2 restaurants that are on premises were really bad. Alpine Larder had decent food but because of low staff we couldn't go in to eat. The Cuisine was quite frankly terrible with slow staff, minimal food options, and a barista that took 30 minutes to make a cappuccino.
- The actual rooms are okay but very old and not well maintained. There is no real cleaning service and all the walls were faded. There was a woodburning fireplace however and that was very nice.
- The actual resort, spa area, gym and pool were extremely outdated and old. Do not bother swimming or working out here as it was all old, dusty, dirty equipment and pool facilities.
- The on-premises shop and reception were okay, but they almost never picked up the phone, and didn't seem to know anything of any value. There is a pro-ski shop on premises however which was quite useful.
- The location is great however as its between both Perisher and Thredbo and near the ski-tube.
- Views were great though, with nice lake views and the snowy mountains clearlt visible from the room.

So overall, there are nicer places to stay, and for the price its not worth it for the views.

Not what we thought it would be. Resort was okay but rain didn't stop so spoilt the fun. Also bit over priced probably
