Zouki Cafe reviews
12 I had a large takeaway coffee (flat white) and a toasted banana-bread with 'butter'. The coffee was meh-ok. There were no metal notes and the equipment was very clean, as one might expect to find in a hospital. The banana-bread was very thoroughly toasted, giving that rare crunchy surface, however I spotted the server bringing out a tub of margarine.
Service was pretty good, the server being quick, friendly and efficient. That said, he was on his own and had a LOT of customers to deal with. Even while I was waiting for my order, he had a dozen-odd medical staff and visitors line up.
The tables area really looked like an after-thought, and something lifted entire from a truck-stop somewhere. Cheap and nasty plastic chairs, bare tables that were little better, and all set within a space that looked out onto an otherwise lovely garden without giving you access to it.
All in all, very much a hospital-cafe meant for in-house staff and one-time visitors. It provides a valuable service but does tend to remind me of a grown-up version of a school tuckshop.
Good refreshing food, good coffee and hit chocolate. Friendly and inviting staff and atmosphere. This was exactly what I needed during the hospital stay following the birth of our child!
Coffee great breakfast menu over priced stale things over weekend some bigger outside like milk smaller there 2 dollars dearer
Food is edible, if you're hungry. Staff seem a bit too casual and take things a little slow.
Orders taken one at a time, even if it takes longer and orders made in a disorganised fashion.
Very disappointed. Quality of the food is good. But very expensive $11.90 for a small container of lunch is not at all acceptable. This photo (before eating) will say what I mean, little bit of rice and exactly 4 tiny pieces in chicken korma curry. This is not worth for the money we pay. Especially during lunch. Very poor service.staffs are amazing.
Coffee is ok but not spectacular. Bring in a hospital it's a bit pricey, but if you need a snack or a drink.
Food selection is less to be desirable, typical unhealthy "junk food", hygienic should be practiced as but its not, as those preparing your sandwich or heating them up never wear gloves. The cashier took my order when handling money and he never bothered washing his hands and/or putting on gloves. This is for all staff from observation, avoid the place like the plaque.
The Zouki cafe that is in the Canberra hospital is awesome so thought we'd try this before the start of the weekend kids sport. The coffee here was warm, not hot and a bit weak for my liking. Unusual at how different it is between here and TCH.
"Hot" food here is pre prepared. I had a bacon and egg roll. Which was pre made then re heated. So wasn't the best. Again, odd at how different this place is compared to TCH.
Overall it was ok. No complaints really, just was expecting the same quality as the Zouki at TCH and it is not in the same league.
1 star for the coffee only as it's good. Zouki @ Canberra hospital: overprised and I do mean it's very expensive, food often stale, no politness in service. Service needs to seriously improve and so do the quality of the food and prices need to go down. Definitely. You have patients and visitors who have no choice but to have cafe food (sometimes these people need to stay long hours at the hospitals). Bread rolls are $9.90.just for the roll, it's pathetically high priced. For 10 bucks you can get a meal (burger, fries and drink) at other places. The food at Zouki cafe is very very expensive for what you get.
The worst food with worse prices due to monopolizing the hospital/local businesses. Ridiculous prices for terrible and strange amalgamations of weirdly thrown together foods. Constant price rises, constant poor food yet ok for purely coffee people. Do everyone a favor and try EQ. People use Zouki just due to convenience.
I have worked as a barista before, I can tell when the same shot is used for coffees = Burnt Nastyness - Not what we pay for Madelines!
