Yum Cha CBD

Me and my family ate here for lunch, and we found it to be not the best choice. While the wait for the food wasn't long, there was some misunderstandings between us and the staff as I believe they couldn't understand us and we didn't get to order all we wanted. The food was somewhat flavourless and also cold when served. We spent a total of $130 between 5 people. It wasn't worth it.

Terrible steamed custard buns. They were as if it was purchased from a grocery store and microwaved.
The BBQ pork rice wrap (Cheung Fun) was extraordinarily thick and slimy. Once it was picked up by our chopsticks, it all fell apart.
The tea we got was as diluted as urine. Very limited amount of tea leaves were found at the bottom of the tea pot. There’s very little difference from drinking hot water compared to this.

I came in for pre referendum breakfast, when the food arrived, the referendum was already over

Authentic Cantonese food served here. Dim sum is freshly made. Really like the sour hot soup. Slat and pepper white bait fish is crispy and tasty. Soup dumplings are not so bad. However，l was expecting more dim sum choices. Will Try Other options next time there.

Food is good here. The salt and pepper squid was deliciously tender. The slow cooked pork belly fabulous.
A bit of waiting but patience is rewarded by the tasty dishes.
The place becomes noisy when more than half the room is occupied which makes difficult for conversations at your own table.

Randomly walked in and was immediately shown to a table. Food was authentic, tasty and reasonably priced. Service was efficient and they took an interest in making sure you were looked after. One of the better Chinese restaurants in Canberra.

The “deluxe seafood hotpot” was almost entirely lettuce, mushroom and duck, with three minuscule prawns thrown in, served in a regular bowl (I.e the pot was not hot). The manager defended this robbery and insult, insisting that the dominance of lettuce made the meal “Extra special”. I would not have minded so much if this item was not twice the price of everything else.

It is located within the Melbourne building. They are usually very busy on Saturday Sunday lunch times.
Good variety of food including baos, dumplings and the menu has a lot of options too.
The mango pudding for dessert was really good too.

Excellent authentic Cantonese food nexted in the City! Including yummy yum cha. Recommended. The only down side is they get really busy on weekends so hard to chase down dishes. But yummy flavours!

We booked a table a week in advance for my mother’s birthday; my sister drove down from Sydney with her young daughter to attend. We confirmed the booking a day before, and again the day of. When we arrived, however, we were left standing in the doorway with three small children and a pram for over 15 minutes, and when we finally flagged someone down to enquire about our table we were told that yes, there was a booking, but that they don’t reserve tables! There were no tables available, and they couldn’t tell us how long we’d need to wait for. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. Quite frankly, this is outrageous service, and we won’t be returning any time soon.

This place was one of the smaller yum ive been so not alot of trolley service food was good though and you could order off menu if not on trolley staff very friendly and helpful

We visited for lunch on a Sunday. We had a confirmed booking however our table wasn't available on arrival and we had to wait till someone left and they could set up the table for us. The restaurant is very cramped and hence if you aren't seated in the major thoroughfare you will get missed by the plates of food that make the rounds. There are a lot of staff, however they seem mainly ineffective and it takes multiple prompts to get water, condiments etc. The food was good however there wasn't much great variety.

I was really expecting much better but couldn't be much happier. The salt and pepper squid was so salty that I couldn't even eat it. The chicken with schezwan sauce was so bland in taste that I couldn't taste whether it was real sauce or just any supermarket sweet and sour sauce mixed in boiled chicken. The lamb with cumin and special fried rice was only good thing which made me to give it 2 star. The chicken sweet corn soup, crab meat soup all taste same if they just changed the name in menu. Felt that I just spended $165 in useless food. Really disappointed.

Yumcha CBD could say it’s one of the best I’ve tried in the ACT in terms of Cantonese cuisine especially the XO mud crab with vermicelli noodles. Yumo!

Very handy restaurant to fulfill your yum cha needs in the city. Service was great and friendly too
