Theo's Cafe and Buffet reviews
35I have a mate who raves about this place but I don't see it. Lasagna was good, bacon and egg roll was average.
I have been a regular at this café for nearly two years as it's conveniently located near my workplace, Harvey Norman. I am familiar with the boss and the employees, but unfortunately, my recent experience was unpleasant. Last week, I ordered an Iced Mocha, but it was served too hot, I politely informed him that it was still too hot, and he apologized for the mistake and made the new one. However, the new one was the same as the previous one. Since he seemed unaware of how to make an iced mocha, I left without saying anything.
Today, I visited the café again and ordered an Iced Mocha, but to my disappointment, it was the same situation as before. The boss made a regular mocha and added ice on top of it. I politely pointed out that this was not how it's supposed to be made. However, he yelled at me and asked me how to make it. He rudely said that if I didn't like it, it was fine. If he doesn't know how to make it, he could hire a barista instead of treating his customers poorly. This experience has left me very disappointed, and despite being a regular customer for two years, I will not be returning to the café again.
My wife & I had occasion to breakfast at Theo's as we had our car attended to nearby one morning in April 2023. Service was friendly & precise, food was hot & well-prepared, actually sumptuous & very fairly-priced.
Place was clean & well-maintained. Mr Theo was cordial & friendly. Gave us a melancholic feeling of the milkbars/cafes of old. Inclusion of an old coin-operated jukebox playing softly in the corner would be the ultimate, I reckon. We didn't need lunch after that breakfast. Will seriously consider bringing the family for a near-town day-outing one day! Ideal for people visiting & working nearby.

So happy with breakfast, we came back for lunch!
Helped along by fact that car wasn't yet ready!
Excellent!

What a great place!
Incredibly friendly staff, great food and very fair prices.
I will be back
Absolutely the best breakfast hands down! Amazing value for money, happy friendly customer service, clean Cafe, always my first choice.totally recommend!
Got the driest burger I've ever had, they forgot all the toppings other than beetroot. Not satisfying in the slightest and payed alot
Theo's cafe is definitely one of Canberra's hidden little gems. You are greeted, you are remembered and you are served professionally in a nice clean environment. Absolute best breakfast in Canberra and great value for money, and the only place around that has Worcestershire Sauce on the table. Have never had a bad coffee here. My favourite place to dine.
CAVEAT: I have only had breakfast here, regardless of the time I attend, so cannot comment on the other food which always looks delicious, but know people that order from here daily for lunch orders.
Give this place a go, I am positive you won't regret it.
A hidden gem in Fishwick. This is not a trendy cafe or coffee shop, but it serves well cooked traditional meals in a somewhat retro atmosphere. The menu offers a good range or sandwiches, burgers, fish and it has a variety of pre-cooked dishes and sides for quick lunch service at reasonable prices. Service is quick and the staff are friendly. Inside and outside tables are available. We were very pleased with our choice of pork cooked with potatoes. Parking on-site is usually available.
Great little dinner style cafe near Harvey Norman, great place to stop for lunch if your shopping in Fyshwick.
Just had a visit with friends and two kids. Great food, super friendly people.
Thank you!
Wow! This is a hidden gem in Canberra for sure. The food was absolutely delicious, restaurant quality while cheaper than most cafes in town. The staff were friendly and down to earth, had a real family run vibe to it. If you're a vegetarian please try the pasta here, you won't be disappointed.
We stop by here every time we are in Fyshwick, the staff are friendly and the food is great quality with big portions.
Service was ok purchase two meals 1 lasagna and Greek salad one seafood basket lasagna was dry and the seafood basket well I certainly wouldn't be rushing there to have the same meals again asked by the waiter if the meal was ok reply was not really but no one cared to come and say anything.first impression i wouldn't recommend it.
Would have been delicious but.they made my Egg and Bacon roll ‘look’ as though it was full of bacon but all they really did was hang a few pieces out of the side of the roll so when I unwrapped it it looked better than it really was. I just.can’t.even.
Very disappointing
Amazing coffee and great service. Food looks amazing, fresh and homemade. Will definitely return to try more!
This is a gem of a cafe! Service with a smile, delicious food, generous portions, affordable prices, easy parking. What else could you ask for? Five stars.
Best breakfast ever! So yum and huge generous serves. Great value for money and very friendly service
Pricey. Paid $30 for a plate of pasta with a small bowl of salad leafs and a small can of coke. Fyshwick is full of better lunch offers.
Exceptionally good takeaway. Reasonable prices but service that is above and beyond! The staff are friendly, polite and they do everything to make customers comfortable and respected. One of my absolute favourite places to go.
Only had the lasagna though. The beef was dry, the cheese seemed old and wasn't creamy. Stopped eating it after 2-3 bites
