Disappointing.
Hyatte buffett is not what it use to be, food is poor quality. We took the family to celebrate special milestone wedding anniversary. $45.00 ea, food was bland. For breakfast they served dry noodles and roast potatoes. (I'm assuming left overs from the buffet the night before)
Pancakes were small, thin and tasteless, the fruit was a little off, and old. Pastries appeared to be from Cosco (nothing wrong with that) but don't charge $45.00.

For $45, go to a nice Cafe in the city, at least there you will receive
quality food.

We just had the ‘Christmas Day’ buffet breakfast and could honestly not have been more disappointed. For $80 per person (normally $40ish) we got nothing extra from the normal buffet, or more ‘Christmasy’ than an el-cheapo cracker and some dry carved ham and some sort of sausage (which was cold). All other buffet food was the same as what you can normally get for half the price. The Christmas booking was from 9am - 11am (the only option available) … but the cafe was still open at its regular time, as it turns out because people were leaving as we arrived (early). Staff then started packing ALL the food away at 10am … nothing left by 10: 10! What we were hoping could be a relaxed Christmas brunch turned out to be rushed and, quite frankly, little more than standard.
I hope the staff were being paid well because they were ALL fabulous.
Value for money? Not even close.

Really disappointed on 25 March 22 The Promenade Cafe told me they now only serve hotel guests.

Over two decades I have stayed at the Hyatt CBR (most recently January this year for my wifes birthday), had, high tea, breakfast, lunch and dinner events at Hyatt, been to ballroom events.

Is it really too much trouble to serve scones and tea to someone not staying in the hotel?

Dined here back in August for a family birthday. Didn’t have a great variety of food and only few seafood options served for the “seafood buffet. ” Some food was very bland and didn’t look very appealing. Very expensive for the low quality, not worth the money anymore. Used to be very good but noticed it’s changed since covid and possibly a change in owners and/or chefs. It was surprisingly a disappointment after not having been here for a while.

Last week my colleagues and I had a very disappointing experience with the services that was provided to us at the buffet dinner@ Promenade Cafe. We were there just about 3 min early for our booking (which was at 6pm) and we were told off by the man at front desk that we were too early and we had to step aside to wait while but there were 2 other people that came before us who were gladly taken to their seat by the host, Vivek. When 6pm hit, we were attended to and led to our table. After starting off and having our first rounds of seafood, we notice no one was refilling our table waters, so we had to go to the front dest to ask for someone to refill our water glasses. Vivek apologised and said he would organise someone to refill our water, yet no one ever came to refill our glasses of water so instead, we decided to order drinks to at least get the section waiter attention to out table. We had our hands up, waving a waiter down but no one came to take our orders.

For the second time, we walked to the host desk to order the drinks at the front desk directly there as we were tired of waiting. We left feedback with Vivek (who we were told he was in charge for the night). He apologised but it was not good enough after we had requested a few times directly to him and no action was taken. We couldn’t help notice that the restaurant had around 100 guests and there was only about 3 staff on the floor attending to all the tables. Very disappointing.

On the other hand, food was delicious and the seafood was fresh. Would come again but service needs to drastically improve for the price tag of $90per person.

I’ll preface my review by stating we did arrive at 10: 00 when breakfast was due to close at 10: 30. Honestly it was the worst buffet breakfast we’ve ever had. Some hot food came out fresh after we arrived but it tasted awful like everything else. The scrambled eggs were so creamy and sickly I couldn’t eat them, hash browns (they came out fresh) were oily. Undercooked garlicky mushrooms. Such a let down. 2 stars for lovely attentive staff.

Not what I was expecting, had the seafood, not happy at all, was expecting better, don't recommend. The service was ok but has room for improvement

You're really just paying for the 'Hyatt ambience'. I don't think they can call their "Seafood buffet, " a buffet, given how few choice are actually seafood. You have one variety of mussels, cold cut prawns, fish and oysters. Pathetic.

Would give it a hard pass, many better buffets out there.

Seafood buffet is good. Cocktails take a while as they are made at another bar. My espresso Martini was made by an amateur

Loved the prawns, all other food was quiet good and service was good. Carved meat staff gave very minimal portions had to ask to keep going twice. Just expected a little more at this venue

The environment is good, however there is 15% sub charge in public holiday, which normally is 10%. Nevertheless, the food and service is good!

Food is fabulous and the service outstanding but there needs to be more choices in the lower price range. Only one choice on the menu at $35, everything else was more expensive. Not everyone who stays in the hotel has deep pockets and there is nowhere else to go within walking distance.

The service was tip top, the atmosphere lovely, we went in for the breakfast buffet, lots of opinions and the some of the food was beautiful. The waiters are attentive and polite. The only let down is the price, for the amount you pay you kind of expect everything to be fantastic, but some is just okay. Still definately worth a try if you want a big breakfast in a nice setting.

To find the cafe you have to go into the reception through the front door, straight through the tables and keep going straight until you go past the piano, and then when you see black and white tiles you are there.

My husband and I had the seafood buffet dinner here last night and it was wonderful! Made even better by the very happy and helpful waitress called India!

My wife and I celebrated our first year wedding anniversary last week, had dinner with wine pairing.
The Burratta for entree was okay but the rest of the meals (the beef and chicken) was divine.
Stephen's explanation about matching wines was exceptional.
Only negative point was that the service was slow.
Other than that, definitely worth a visit

Even in this COVID environment, a wonderful place for a small family catch up breakfast.sadly, only a la carte menu available.

Always good for a smorgasbord dinner. Great selections in every category. Impeccable desserts. Birthday cakes made to order.

We went for a seafood buffet on Sunday during lunch time. While the staff are very attentive and helpful, I would have imagined the buffet options would have been more variable instead of just two fish options and some prawns and oyster. Otherwise the ambience is pleasant and enjoyable.

We have eaten here on several occasions. It's a lovely comfortable buffet style eating area situated at the back of the beautifully restored Hyatt Hotel. Entrance through the front of the Hotel is rather grand with lovely old trees and gardens surrounding the building. There seems to be plenty of parking, but it was busy during Floriade on one occasion we were there. It has good disabled access. It's a nice stroll through the centre to the Promenade Cafe. The food is good with hot and cold choices and a dessert stand. Maybe 6, hot food choices, plus cold meats, seafood, salads, the usual small buffet style selections. The food is always nice and there are plenty of dietary options, for allergies and intolerances. We like it because there is plenty of room, comfortable chairs, a beautiful outlook and reliable food with courteous staff.
