Horrid experience. Paid $18.30 for hot potato chips and a coffee to take away. The chips were lukewarm and I was given a coffee in the smallest cup I’ve ever seen. When I told the barista that I had ordered a large coffee she asked for more money. It was as a public holiday, so I expect a surcharge. However, this was exhorbitant pricing, mediocre service and a greatly lacking product. I’m greatfull as I just walked out without worrying about the coffee. Too many times I’ve left this cafe in disappointment. Not again, though.)

Definitely a nice spot for lunch for a group of visitors. The coffee was excellent. The brunch options were good with fair prices. The tables outside were a bit dirty from previous meals. The service was fine.

Try their Red Beans and cheese Toastie.
We sat at the very end facing the lake, nice view, spotted Rabbits. If you plan to sit there, beware of pesky birds.

Ordered the eggs benedict and chicken burger. Overall was good even though the portion for the eggs benedict could be slightly bigger. Nice atmosphere and plenty of tables. Coffee nice and rich in flavour.

I had lunch with my lovely wife. Always choose the museum for their fantastic food and great views of the lake!

We chose the museum again for our Friday lunch and decided to sit outside, a little bit chilly outside but we were nice and rugged up so we could manage.

We ordered some delicious cheese burger and my wife had the chill beans, with coffees to compliment.

We had two mixed experiences, so I will start with the negative. The gentleman who bought us our drinks did not even address us or ask us how we were doing, simply placed the drinks on the table and walked away. We were delivered our food by a lovely young lady but didn’t grab her name unfortunately.

Food and drinks were lovely as usual! We asked for some water from this lovely young lady and we began chatting about how cold it was starting to get with the winter creeping in. She was absolutely delightful and offered to get us some more sauces. From memory her name was Belle. Just an absolute delight and will definitely be looking out for her next time we are here!

Food was very nice and large portions, its a cake inside a museum so expect to be paying more. Service was fast and fresh, not amazing customer service though.

Has to be one of the best locations for a Cafe in Canberra and they occupy some very prime real estate within the Museum. The food selection was reasonable and the staff were very pleasant and efficient. I liked my pancakes but our granddaughter loved hers! The coffee was good and the service was quick. You can understand why the Dragon boaters pop in for a snack.

Beautiful view of the lake and surrounding area. Food options are great and not as overpriced as some other galleries and museums.

Really good food that was fresh, well thought out and came all together. A really great experience.

The staff here are some of the loveliest people you will come across, they were amazing and by the looks of it there are many regulars that they have gotten to know well. It is a bit more expensive than your run of the mill cafe, but it’s quality food and service. There are also a lot of wild birds that will come up to you witch was a magical experience.

While the menu and food was great, the service was very poor. Once we had ordered, our food arrived before our drinks. My friend ordered a slice and that didn’t arrive either.
When the food arrived I asked about the drinks and slices, and then the waiter said he would look into it. 2-3 minutes later, when I looked at him, he stared at me and continued to walk past me, going back and forth with food. Not even an update on how the order is going.

I waited another 5 minutes, I got up and asked again about the drinks and slices. All arrived momentarily. Very weird experience.

A pleasant cafe environment within the National Museum of Australia, with friendly staff, a broad menu offering but truly atrocious coffee and a tasteless 'portuguese tart'.

The staff couldn't be friendlier and very service focussed. A very buzzy place with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options - inside was at about 80% during our visit. Unfortunately my Doppio was almost undrinkable, as though the grounds had been used twice. My partner said the same about his double shot latte. Might as well have had a Nespresso! The Portuguese Tart was rubbery and tasted of nothing, we had expected pastry and custard flavours.

I do expect (hope) given the reviews & prices, that whatever comes from the kitchen are a much better standard.

PS: Shame they cannot spell cutlery.

Day trip to Canberra and decided to have lunch at the cafe at the National
Museum seeing we were pressed for time.
Great view when seated at the windows of the Lake Burley Griffin and the Commonwealth Park.
Lunch menu is limited but the sweet display looks tempting.

Always the best chips, sausage roll and toasties! Such a beautiful view and clean. We love taking our visitors here for brunch.

Nice food, decent coffee and friendly staff.
This is a nice casual place for brunch or lunch and a coffee.
