The Food Co-op Shop and Cafe reviews
30 My favourite source for organic foods like nuts, flours, legumes, grains.
We've been despairing at the overpackaging in food stores, and the coop lets us reuse our bags/jars/containers again and again. There's also lots of sterilised jars etc if you don't bring your own. It's also pretty cheap compared to other organic stores.
And a great place for a reasonably priced nutritious vegan lunch or indulgent baked good washed down with a delicious chai.
It has a great vibe!
I love this place, I come here often for lunch, the atmosphere is great, the people are friendly and the food is delicious
I love the co-op! The community is warm, inviting and inclusive. Lunches are always great and very affordable for such a nutritious vegan and gluten free meal, made with love. Lots of baked goods each day and $3 cups of soy chai! Discounted prices for members, students and volunteers. Highly recommend!
Absolutely love having lunch here. Super tasty food (Saba is my fav chef but it's always great) and the chai is great too.
Details of parking were not good. We should have been directed to park across the road into Kingsley Street as I turned into it. The store was amazing.
An institution for almost 50 years. Not only a great place to stock up on bulk ethical foods, get a coffee or tea and cakes. Has great live music too.
Very nice store, nice selection of products. If you don't have jars you can use the ones available there, you can also donate jars to be reused. There's a cafe and a restaurant too, I'm keen to try their food someday.
Very few places where you can buy non packaged food. Great luncheon especially if you are a vegetarian or want a co-op experience.
No place like it Canberra! There are ways for everyone to be involved and feel a part of things. And it's the best and original place for bulk food! Improvements happening in a few needed places, come and get involved.
Amazing tasty vegan + gf lunches and great selection of zero waste groceries and fresh fruit and veg:)
If you have the desire to feel like you're a part of the medieval 1%, stroll around and scoop from the varied buckets of seeds, spices, and powders.
Lovely location to shop around and explore some new ingredients.
First time visit. Great store with helpful staff that are all volunteers. Loved I can buy milk in my own bottles. Even scored a free lunch when became a member. Food was amazing. Will be back next week.
Very busy place. People are very friendly. Such a variety of different spices and flours, from Australia and around the world
The Food Co-op is a fantastic place to buy your essential cooking and cleaning products without any of the waste the supermarket makes. There's a nice space to hang out and have a coffee and they host many fabulous events. It's a great space to hire. They've got a great community built around them and they have good ethics. Everyone is super friendly too!
$7 food for students, a big bowl of food, $4 for refilling it. Beautiful people work there, very nice and friendly vibe, books to read, definitely go there more often
Lovely spot for a coffee and to pick up some groceries. Delicious and affordable vegan lunches.
Some items sold by weight. Plastic free, bring your own container and buy as much as you need! They have lots of recycled containers and jars you can use aswell.
Have been looking for a food store that focusses on ethical and sustainable products, supports local producers & the community, and where i can bring my own containers and buy just the amounts i need. The Food Co-op does all this and more!
Calm and warm environment, cheap, natural, local food products available, delicious lunches. Support your co-op
Wonderful idea in theory but in practice it's rather sloppily run and hygiene practices in the store are severely lacking. Good fresh produce at a reasonable price. Cafe' is nice and the lunches are healthy and delicious.
Love the free dinner on Sundays, usually starts around 6 pm so get in a little early as there's always a line now. The food is incredible and they have the best bread. Bring Tupperware just in case they have leftovers! A really good spot to study as well, very welcoming and lovely atmosphere. Love the people who work/volunteer there, most importantly be kind!
