Thai Chiang Rai reviews
41 The food wasn't that good or tasty as compare to other Thai places we have been dining.
Tom yum goog soup was more like a tomato soup with some prawns.
Green Thai chicken Curry was sweet and doesn't taste any green curry paste.
Chicken cashew stir fry was good.
The menu says 'authentic thai' but it is definitely more of a modern thai.
It took extremely long to be seated on a Friday night because of all the takeaway orders they had to fulfil. Please avoid coming Friday-Sunday without a booking. Waitstaff were nice & the food was good however, especially the crispy noodles which I would recommend.
Great food, in a pleasant setting. The duck in red curry sauce was the highlight. Tender meat in a sweet sauce was delicious. Will definitely return to try other dishes.
The food was delicious, the place had a great atmosphere, the service was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable!
I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends as well!
Food is great, service on the other hand wasn't good, thought I was walking into a Chinese restaurant.not thai.
Great food, friendly service, but need to go shopping during the week. Many items were not available.
Thai Chang Rai is our favourite Thai Restaurant in Canberra. The food is authentic, tasty and cost effective for a big family.
Highly recommend the following dishes:
Spicy Phuken prawns
Chiang Rai Chicken
Massaman Beef Curry
Panang chicken curry
Food will not disappoint here!
The flavours of Paws paw salad, coconut rice and chicken satay entree go great together. Feeling healthy after eating a satisfying meal. Not greasy like some Asian food.
Fast service for delivery with Menulog. Delicious food. Only thing I can fault is the chicken cashew stirfry has only onion and chicken no veggies but still delicious.
Great food, prompt service. We had a limited period to dine before other commitments and the staff made sure we made our deadline without fuss and without compromising the quality of the meals, which we really appreciated.
Loved their hokkain noodles and stir-fry bean curd and cashew nuts. Amazing flavours and they listen to your request sincerely.
I have very rarely left a bad review but feel compelled here becos of appealing service. I have been visiting this place for 10 years and the last was a few days ago There were 5 of us. Most food we ordered was ok. We also ordered a pad Thai and when we tasted it was too salty we sent the dish back, the same dish was sent back but too sweet now. I again sent it back and the same thing was sent back. I told them it was uneatable they said becos we tasted it it couldn't be refunded or a new one made. I asked to speak to manager or owner none came. I paid for everything including the pad thai and left. Most appaling
Delicious food as always, and after an issue with an incomplete Deliveroo delivery, the staff at Thai Chang Rai went above and beyond to ensure the full order was delivered within minutes.
Absolutely awful. Almost $54 for takeaway and i got the two tiniest dishes ever. Beef massaman with like 3 tiny pieces of very bad tough beef, all sauce and few potatoes and roast chicken which was dry, no flavour and barely any chicken that was obviously sitting there for a while, soggy cucumbers. The only thing that was decent was the rice but who can make bad rice? Such a rip off, small portions, stingy portions. Not fresh and a big let down. Extremely disappointed.
The other one is belconnen is way better, the one in belconnen is actually amazing. Huge portions, fresh and tasty and better priced. I usually eat at the belconnen one, once or twice a week.
Thought I'd try kingston tonight but I made a mistake, kingston was disgusting. It's a fail.for me.
This is also coming from someone who eats out lunch and dinner 7 days a week. Takeaway or eat in.
Had a take-away of beef Pad thai for the first time. Quite disappointed as it wasn’t really a pad thai. No chopped peanuts, no lemongrass, no bean sprouts, no lemon wedge, and didn’t taste any oyster/fish sauce but overpowering tomato sauce and vinegar. Beef tasted dry and bland.
Pretty disappointed. All the food we ordered had no sauce so was very dry and tasteless. Spent over $75 and had to drink water just to get it down. Love Thai and get these dishes often. Maybe an off night but disappointed.
Food was nice and well presented. Some unusual dishes on offer. Prices were about average. Service was fast.
Reasonable food, but quite expensive and very slow service. Our last visit was particularly poor whereby we waited over an hour for our starters.
Very disappointed with food quality. Dreadful watery curry that did not smell or taste like curry. Phat Tai that was way too sweet.
Food is good but service appalling. Waited 15 minutes to be given menus. Another 25 to have order taken. Apparent chaos on kitchen.
The most disgusting pad thai I’ve ever had. It was like they cooked some noodles, covered them with tomato sauce, and then garnished it with three pieces of dry chicken. Will not be ordering again.
