SPICE ROUTE INDIAN RESTAURANT reviews
27Didn't know about this hidden gem in Canberra until recommended by one of our closest friend. We had a wonderful dining experience. Foods were delicious and service exceptional. Unlike many other Indian restaurants where you get same gravy with a new name to call it a new dish, chef here seems to have prepared everything ground up. This is clearly reflected on the foods served to us. We tried variety of dishes including Samosa chat, Chilli chicken, Chicken biryani, Tandoori chicken, Kadhai curry and Goat curry. They all were delicious and full of flavour. Keep up the good work team. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommended.
It is a nice quiet place (surprisingly because the food is great). We ordered hot and it was. Portions are quite generous. Compliments to the chef. Service was ok, could do with a bit more welcoming nature. Highly recommended.
Once again we were lucky enough to dine here. Same excellent service and food. Highly recommend
Good place, not crowded. Service was efficient and the food actually had taste. Not like many other Indian restaurants where the flavour is dialed down to suit a larger population of non Indian customers.
Prices at par with other restaurants. Overall, a nice and fast eating out experience for us.
Fabulous Indian food in a quaint location. This restaurant is a gem. I ordered afghani chicken entree which was cooked perfectly and the spice level was mild yet delicious, quantity is pretty good even though we ordered half plate between two of us. Chicken lollipop is the best I’ve had so far in Canberra, it’s a bit medium spiced for anyone wondering. For mains we got Shahi paneer. Creamy and soft paneer in rich gravy. Also we loved the tandoori roti. We shall visit more often. Highly recommend to anyone thinking about going there.
The MOST incredible food and service you will find in Canberra! My friends and I came to spice route for a 8-person dining extravaganza and we can’t wait to come back again. The service was exceptionally attentive, welcoming and insightful. And the food was divine - fragrant spices and rich, vibrant flavours, all paired with an incredible drinks list. I cannot recommend this hidden gem enough
The restaurant was empty when I collected my takeaway order, and I soon found out why. Flavour lacking and to make it worse, it was expensive
My partner and I have dined here a few times and cannot fault the food or service. It is our favourite Indian restaurant in Canberra.
Not so good experience. We have been going there quite often since they opened up not anymore. The service took so long, just one staff to attend and probably one chef j. The kitchen, they were not too busy either. Did not provide us warm water for elderly parents. And if you guys can spot Kadai Paneer from the picture it’s a reward. I have never seen Kadai Paneer like this ever! There was no difference in gravy for Shahi Paneer and Kadai Paneer.
Great service and great food. Loved everything about this restaurant can’t wait to come back again.
This is our favourite Indian restaurant.
We have been several times & We recently booked out the restaurant & celebrated my Birthday here.
The service and food is outstanding.
Nav & the staff are friendly and we were so happy with how everything turned out. I highly recommend this restaurant. The food and service is always exceptional.
Our go to Indian restaurant. The food is wonderful, fantastic flavours and the right amount of spice. We are spoilt for choice for Indian food in Southside Canberra, and I highly recommend Spice Route!
Went tonight for dinner with friends Was nice experience food is really delicious special thanks to the chef and excellent service from a lovely girl Navneet️
Friendly and efficient service and the food was very fresh and tasty. Will come again. I think it’s the nicest Indian food we have had in Canberra so far and being in the suburbs it’s much more convenient than a trek into the city. Bonus points for also being a quiet place to eat. Not over crowded and enough space around the tables that others can’t overhear conversations
I ordered some pick-up yesterday. We loved the veg Manchurian and paneer tikka masala. Food was really delicious.
Customer service Great!
Food quality Good enough!
Naan bread perfect!
Kadahi paneer was good but could have been better. I will happily order again. Thanks
A good Sunday night dinner with 10 people. The restaurant wasn’t busy however the mains took a while to be served. Food was tasteful but couple of the dishes had the same sauce with the main ingredient swapped (goan fish curry and bagare baingan). Quantities were good.
The ambient noise would benefit from some dampening; the polished floors didn’t help the acoustic.
Well done, a good addition to the Indian cuisine in Canberra.
My partner and I decided to have dinner here after reading good reviews, and we were not disappointed. We ordered the dinner for two people, and it was a feast! The meals were fantastic, especially the Goat biryani, Spicy prawn curry, and we discovered new dishes and flavours that we hadn't tasted before.
It's not a 'cheap' venue, but it's not outrageous either; the food quality much outweighs the price. We will undoubtedly return.
The Haywards 5000 Indian beer was outstanding.
New favourite neighbourhood restaurant here. Haven’t been this impressed with an Indian restaurant for longer than I care to remember, tonight changed all that. From our lovely host Nav, to the beautiful food she served we were so impressed and can’t wait to come back ourselves and with our friends. Thank you to the Spice Route team!
Ordered Palak paneer, chicken tikka masala garlic naan goat biriyani and pistachio kulfi. It’s my second order and consistency is good. The taste is sharp.
