Royal Australian Mint reviews
60Give Claire a raise! She gave us the guided, she's such a gem to the entire experience. For visitors, come for the free guided tour which is only run a few times a day, 11am, 1pm are the times I'm aware but could be more. Highly enjoyable. You get to see the actual real life factory floor, which is understandably not operating on weekends or public holidays so just take note if you wanted to see the actual operation.
The coin making experience and souvenir shop are pretty good!
A must visit to Canberra!
The kids really like it, it's better than expected, and there's a lot of content!
Fun experience but I wished they accepted forex card for minting coins. Don't forget to carry the change if you are looking for minting a personalised coin.
We were visiting Canberra during the school holidays and had three young inquisitive boys aged 7 and twin boys aged 10, so we took them to the Mint I actually thought it would be to boring for them, But they loved it and we're thrilled to see the stair case made out of 5 cent pieces also seeing all different sorts of coins, we did a tour and our guide explained everything to us about how it was made and even showed us the area and rooms where the money was made from start to finish.
The Royal Australian Mint has wonderful people who are always ready to assist you in the purchase of various types of products that the mint produces. Always ready to answer any questions you may have.
Absolutely fascinating visit - to see all the processes our money goes through plus to understand the history. Really well curated.
What a great place to see how coins are made in well thought out displays with lots of history of early coin production. If you're and engineering buff you will find plenty to see at the mint. The tool room with all the machinery was just to die for if your a hobby machinist. Had a great few hours and would go back again.
Fascinating, especially the robots lifting and sorting all the coins. Kid friendly. Good shop where you can purchase some good mementoes.
My trip to the Mint was amazing. The tour was so informative and the history of money and Australia's economy was very insightful. I would recommend checking the tours online before you go and be sure to check out the gift shop at the end. It is a great way to spend the afternoon in Canberra.
Had a great time here, the tour was very informative and worth doing. It isn't a massive venue so only need to allocate an hour here
Good place to visit while in canberra with the family, things to see and do for all ages from your kids to teens interested in history of Australian currency, coffee shop was good
Fun to watch the coin production process, a little on the history and to be able to "make your own coin". The prices to buy the coins are way too high, but it is fun to see.
Great place to visit. Lots of coins to purchase. It's awesome you can see the machines where the mint makes everything. Definitely have to visit
Friendly staff, great experience. Would recommend visiting during the week when there's more to see on the factory floor though.
Was very interesting and learnt a lot! Watching the manufacturing process was fun, and looking at the new releases was a lot more enjoyable than I anticipated. You can also put a coin through the pressing process.
Free admission, so the price is right. The kids love watching the coins being made, and looking at the mis-prints. Not a bad place to spend an hour or so, or even longer if you are a fan of coins.
I love love loved it. The assistants were so friendly and so helpful and who doesn't like to be around so much MONEY. I loved that as a momento you could make your very own $1 coin. Fantastic Royal Australian Mint.we will be back
Amazing tour guide, very knowledgeable and made it easy for all to understand exactly what happens throughout the process
You will see how Australian coins are made from the design stage to the actual manufacturing. Go on a guided tour as it shows you the step by step way coins are made, as well as the opportunity to get questions answered at the same time.
Great place to spend a few hours. Unfortunately most of the areas weren’t working as it was their lunch break but still held some very interesting exhibits to look at.
