Raku Japanese Restaurant reviews
45We had one of the tasting menus and really enjoyed the food. Sashimi was delicious (one of the best scallops i've had). Service was great- we were seated in one of the booths and probably felt more bad that the server had to walk all the way around to the other side to reach the other side. Booths are good for photos of the group too because it has some lighting too
We love this place. The service was good. The food is so yummy and very consistent. Lots of choices and easy options of a banquet or just individual dishes. The price is high but worth it for the fabulous food.
Recommended by a friend and happy to pay it forward.
Excellent food, across multiple Japanese and Japanese inspired styles.
A surprising broad menu, but that's great when everything is done superbly. Can't wait to return to sample more options.
Food is good - modern Japanese menu that works. But serving sizes are in the small side so works out a bit pricey for a family meal and no kid specials or sets (like noodles, fried rice, bento box etc). Better for dates, colleague catch ups etc.
Fantastic service and food! A great place for a special occasion.
The staff are attentive, personable and knowledgeable.
We went with a la carte. It was great to sit at the bar and watch the sushi chef in action.
The food was beautifuly presented and tasted incredible. The slow cooked octopus was amazing and the combination of flavours and textures was unlike anything Ive had before.
Definitely will come back again and try other options on the menu.
Raku is a very good restaurant for having high level japanese food. The menu is varied, with tasting menus that allow you to taste various dishes which all are very nice. It is usually pretty busy, so you need to book a spot. Still be prepared to wait a bit as they actually don't secure a specific table for you so you usually have to wait a bit for a spot to become free despite the booking (weird system).
Second time we’ve had out date night here. Food is always fantastic and this time was for my girls birthday and the staff were exceptionally friendly and attending.
Excellent food and atmosphere. But slow on the service, and no one asked if we wanted another drink. But was worth it. We had a tasting buffet and it was seriously incredible food!
It was my first time at RAKU and my expectations were high given the rave reviews I had heard about this establishment. I was not disappointed in the slightest. The service was impeccable, the wagyu beef just melts in your mouth and the sashimi santen (indeed all the fish) was fresh! RAKU really deserves the title of best restaurant it received 2 nights ago at the AHA Awards! Well done!
Happened across Raku about a year ago and it has fast become my all-time favourite restaurant. Over this period of time, I have dined here about 7-8 times and during this period the standard has remained the same. The food is divine, the staff are great. I recommend the Wagyu Gyoza - they will blow your mind!
I have fined at Raku multiple times and they always make it an amazing experience. Not only is the food excellent, but the service is also always impeccable.
Incredible food. The short ribs, sashimi, Wagyu beef gyoza, crab, broccollini and Canadian scallops are fantastic. Beautiful interior and setting. Great addition to Canberra.
What a truly wonderful experience! We went for my partner's birthday and we shared the salmon sashimi, chicken jidori karaage and lamb ribs. Everything tasted amazing. The service was fantastic, very attentive and friendly! We had the sesame icecream for dessert which was delightful! They wrote happy birthday on the plate which was super lovely! I rang up to book but you can also book online. We will we back!
The food here is great. Even though it is expensive, the delicacy is 100%. Who would think of putting wagyu beef inside a gyoza (Japanese dumpling) ? Excellent ideas. You should come here.
The food and the service was excellent but we had a tiny table with small stools which had no back. The tasting menu was interesting and they were very helpful in replacing the things we were not keen on (oysters and scallops).
We had lunch at Raku for my husband’s birthday. We both lived in Japan for thee years, and I can honestly say I have never had a better meal. The tasting menu is a culinary dream and we were transported to heaven eating. The service was as superb as the food. We cannot recommend Raku highly enough. It is a joy.
It was delightful. My favourites were the beef gyoza, Scotch fillet and dessert with ice-cream and candied nuts with caramel. The atmosphere and layout of the restaurant were good. We ate at the bar but next time would prefer a table (either in a private room or the ones near the entrance). Service was slow to start but cracking once we started. We ordered the $80 tasting menu and that was enough to fill us both up.
Raku is he best Japanese restaurant in Canberra. We love their express lunch or tasting menu for dinner. This will allow you to taste different dishes and every dish is delicious. They are also good in meeting dietary requirements like gluten-free, dairy free etc. Service is excellent. This is our favorite Japanese restaurant in Canberra for our family outings for special occasions.
Wonderful dining experience! We went for our 5 year anniversary and the staff were so lovely! The food was amazing and it had a great atmosphere. We'll definately be going back.
I had dinner with a friend of mine at Raku and it was one of the best dining experiences I have had the pleasure of enjoying. The hot and cold food was gorgeous! Fresh and prepared perfectly, the service was five star and the dishes came out at the perfect time. I will definitely eat at Raku again and recommend them if you enjoy Japanese cuisine.
