QT Canberra reviews
59Couldn't be happier, motorbikes locked up safety in the carpark, good price and staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful if they tried, everyone was wonderful, overall it's a really nice building, breakfast was very nice too.definitely stay here again
It’s OK for an overnight stay but if you’re staying any longer I’d look elsewhere.
Pros: close to the lake, somewhat quirky vibe
Cons: room design isn’t ideal for a couple, there’s no fitness centre, it’s starting to look really shabby, a bit too far from the centre of town so if you’re using it for business on a warm day, it’s just that little too to walk without sweating your butt off.
I’ve stayed here quite a few times, most recently when my partner went to work. I’m an early riser and there was no where in the room I could be awake without bothering her. The room had a balcony I could’ve gone out in but there was no furniture to sit and work on while she slept. I ended up down in the foyer and it was pretty gross, hard to find a seat that didn’t look as though someone had some sort of ‘accident’ on.
Overall the quirky vibe is novel but it lacks facilities and needs a good refresh and clean.
What the rooms lack in size (& lack of soundproofing) is made up by the food! From in room service breakfast, to dinner at The Capitol and a conference dinner, was not only beautifully presented but tasted delicious and generous. From the signature QT quirky decor, I was impressed each room has a Dyson hairdryer too.
Food of poor quality and badly cooked. The experience reminds me of a Sizzlers experience.
The room is nice, comfortable and clean. My room had a balcony, which was a big plus.
The location is great as it is within walking distance to Canberra Centre and the lake.
The TV in my room kept turning on by itself at night, which was a bit creepy. I ended up unplugging it, which was not easy as it's built in to a joinery unit. The TV also had icons for Netflix and other streaming apps, but to my disappointed they didn't work.
Their service really let them down.
Our bathroom wasn’t clean, we cleaned it ourselves.
The mini bar hadn’t been checked, there was a half full bottle of vodka from the previous customer.
We requested a corkscrew and bucket of ice for our room however reception couldn’t give us a corkscrew to open our bottle, we had to go and buy one ourselves.
Coffee at breakfast was wrong and we never got a replacement after asking twice.
Hotel is amazing and modern. The rooms have everything we needed and a balcony! The capital bar had great cocktails. 10/10 would recommend
Terrific service, alwayd happy to stay at QT hotels. Had planned to stay the night on the way back from Melbourne to Sydney. Unfortunately plans fell through, but the staff were more than happy to arrange a last minute free cancellation.
QT Is a cool hotel, nicely decorated and the king room I had was spacious and had a balcony which was great to let fresh air in. The views were good too. Check in and check out were seemless.
Just a few things let it down. The pillows are terrible. I ended up sleeping without one. My bar fridge made a humming noise which was annoying at night.
I ordered the rustic fries and tiramisu from the room service menu. The fries didn't look too rustic they were actually French fries. The tiramisu was lovely though. Rooms need a bit of a spruce up but it's a really nice place to stay and not far from the city centre.
I picked this hotel for price and location - cheapest in the city center. And it was close to where I needed to be. The staff was professional, room is OK, little balcony, shower, bed, everything a person might need for 1 night.
Arranged my nice's wedding there. So impressed with food, service and politeness all the way through.thanks heaps for making the event memorable. Special thanks to Boss man for monitoring the event himself
We stayed for 2 nights in December 2020. The hotel was not at capacity due to the COVID situation, therefore you would think the staff would be able to provide good service with limited guests around! Unfortunately our stay was mediocre. The staff could not care less. We felt like an inconvenience rather than guests. Asking for a coffee in the restaurant seemed like a hassle for the bar tender even though we were the only ones in the whole place! No customer service from any of the staff. Our room was disgustingly dirty - dust covered the table/coffee table/desk/fridge and shelving area. There was grime and dirt all over the carpet which looked like it had never been vacuumed. The bedding was marked, the shower needed a clean.
As for the rest of the hotel, don’t look too carefully otherwise you’ll notice the coffee stain marks all over the tables in the bar. Dirty carpet and the lifts look like they have never been mopped.
Not one friendly staff member in sight - even when we said Good Morning first, there was a mere grunt back.
It is just extremely disappointing as QT is a well known brand and the service and quality of rooms from other locations such as Sydney and Melbourne is always outstanding. However QT Canberra is appalling. It’s not hard to train staff in good customer service! To put a smile on your face! To greet your guests! Absolutely appalled.
If you have been to any other QT in Australia, adjust your expectations. This is by no means up to the same standard and finishings of other QTs like in Melbourne.
Cleanliness of the room was appalling. Rubbish in the corner of our room, bin not emptied from previous guest and a filthy towel covered in all sorts of bodily fluids on the ground hanging out under the bed. Mini bar products were out of date by more than 3 months. Whilst the foyer looks impressive that’s where the positives stop with this hotel. We were disgusted with our recent stay & would strongly suggest if your thinking about staying here to go elsewhere.
Exceptional hotel. Modern and Uber cool retro all in the one package. Definitely not dull and drab like so many other hotel chains, this is an experience as much as it is accommodation. Brilliant location too, right next to the heart of Canberra, Lake Burley Griffin. Highly recommended!
Cannot highly recommend this place enough.the customer service was spot on.we stayed here about a month ago.been wanting to leave review but have not had the chance! Would def come back.
Clean room, friendly staffs. The location of the hotel is really convenient, 12 mins walk to the City
Booked a room at the QT for a girl’s night away. After attending a function at the hotel.
Unfortunately the room was not what we expected. While it was relatively clean. The cushions in the room had seen been better days and the table in the room was noticeable broken, which was discovered after placing a coffee on the table and it collapsing.
Also had major issues with the TV system, with not being able to connect at all to any of the apps advertised (ie our own Netflix Stan and Disney accounts)
The most frustrating part of our stay was finding earwigs in the sheets. When climbing into bed for the night.
Not the relaxing weekend we were expecting. Will unlikely be returning.
Nice view from our 12th floor room, the balcony is more like a pacel shelf and the room is dated. The speak easy place we went to was ok. Staff are excellent. Does not have a pool.
My wife and I went to Canberra to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary 20/11/2020.
I chose The QT for our accommodation and was hopeful that the hotel would deliver what we needed on this very special occasion.
Well!
We were not disappointed, actually really impressed.
The accommodation was lovely with great views, the staff were extremely friendly, the location was central, the food was above average especially the 1kg T Bone share plate and the wine list, more than impressive to any wine lover.
Andrew Thomas Wines and Tyrrell’s from the Hunter Valley were well represented and accompanied by other great brands around Australia and internationally.
The QT has given us a wonderful, memorable experience and we will be going back when we return to The ACT.
Thank you to all at QT.
Regards
Rod and Belinda.
