ONA Coffee House Cafe reviews
41Food is expensive and now cash is not accepted! Plenty of other great cafes in the area to go instead that are much cheaper and accept cash
Dishes that belongs in 5 star restaurants. The pork dish was amazing with lots of flavours, the beef burger was moist and the chips were the best I have ever had.
Highly recommend a visit
Best cafe in Canberra, the only place where the quality of food is matched by the quality of coffee. Consistently excellent. Staff are super friendly too.
Discrimination against using cash then wanting to put surcharge on a Saturday. Next. Won't be back.
27 for bacon and egg roll and tiny coffee.
No Cash Cafe.

We were visiting Canberra and decided to try ONA in Fyshwick. The place was packed on a Sunday morning and thought it would be great to try. We were unsure if it was table service or order at the till. Our first contact with a server we were told to find a table. We chose to sit on the front patio to enjoy our breakfast. We were given two menus and a server came back about 10 minutes later to take our order. Didn't see a children's menu so we asked and they said "no" and then went to double-check dropped one off and left for almost 5 minutes. We ended up ordering the eggs on sourdough (which was grain bread), a Caesar roll with egg, and a kid's ham and cheese sandwich. It was nice to have the kids sammy out prior to adult meals which was very much appreciated. The food was good but not over-the-top delicious. We ended up ordering two mochas that came out lukewarm. I think they were sitting on the counter waiting for a server to deliver to the table. If we were to go back to Canberra ONA wouldn't be on the list of places to go again.
Hubby, daughter & I went there, had waffle sweet well enjoyed it & coffee. Will be going back there.
Great Food and coffee here. Service is really good too with friendly staff. Had the waffle and fritters today, best waffle by far and the fritters were perfect.
We have had Ona coffee before in Melbourne but wanted to try again in Canberra. Coffee range here is top notch and really wide.
For latte, I recommend Maple blend but if you want to try something cool and unique, go for Rasberry Candy. It’s their award winning coffee.
Filter coffee is also good here. I’m a fan.
For food, I recommend Ona Roll with tomato chutney. It’s really balanced and good. Fritters are pretty yummy too.
Would visit again.
Good food and great atmosphere for a Sunday brunch.
The menu is different but refreshing
Always very welcoming and attentive. Nice menu with great ingredients. Coffee is the best in Canberra, can’t even compare.
New ordering app is easy to use too. Overall great cafe
Good food quality but the layout of their space can make it overcrowded. The staff are amazing but they've eliminated table service for QR code ordering which is always disappointing. But my main issue is with the unrealistic pricing - over $6 for an espresso makes this the most expensive in Canberra. Breakfasts are $17-27, nudging $30 on a Saturday with their all-weekend surcharge. We've enjoyed coming here in past but now we'd rather spend our $70 on a full dinner elsewhere.
Went back to try after a reasonable experience in the past (pre covid). Unfortunately I was left underwhelmed & disappointed. B+E Roll tasty but not worth the almost $20 they are charging & coffee was ok but again little change out of $7 for a small coffee. Wont accept cash & forced to order through their app. Surely if you are going to charge these excessive kind of prices customers could expect some level of customer service, full table service, choice of payment options at least. Poor value for money, plenty of other options - won’t be back.
This was my first time visiting ONA, and it was wonderful. The style and atmosphere is excellent, the Cafe was clean and well presented. The staff were well dressed, friendly and helpful. Coffee and food was prepared far quicker than I had expected with our meals in front of us in less than 10 minutes. We had the "Maple" coffee, which is the new name of the old "Hitman" blend, and it was delicious. So nice in fact, I had 2.
I will definately visit again, next time I'm in Fyshwick.
Ona is somewhere I take my friends for a good brunch, who love the coffee and the friendly service! Always accommodating and with their new QR ordering system in its become a breeze for everybody to order. I hope it also makes the servers jobs a little easier too!
Highly recommend for the coffee, food and atmosphere, worth the trip out to Fyshwick!
My medium cappuccino was good but a little milky. Would have given them more stars but the price was steep at $7.15. There are better cappuccinos around at more reasonable prices in Canberra.
Come for the coffee, stay for the food. Ona has consistently produced some of the best coffee in Canberra for a number of years now, and whenever we are in town we make sure to grab a cup. This time we were able to stay for breakfast and it was excellent. The portions were big, everything had a gluten free option, but the price was on the expensive side. Would definitely like to explore more of the menu next time we drop in.
I’ve been meaning to check out ONA and it did not disappoint. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable, food was great value and the coffee was excellent. But the best thing about the location is that it’s dog friendly!
Coffee is not any better than other places that use “Ona” beans, however prices are much higher (> $15 for a large and a medium coffee on Saturday). Last time we dined in here, I saw tea towels that were used to wipe the cutlery, they looked disgusting.the meals were okay, milkshakes - wouldn’t recommend. However, I wouldn’t return here
Great food, great atmosphere, great service. Only thing that cost a star is the price. Definitely at the higher end.
Popped in for coffee but the food smelt so good that we shared a chicken burger between us. Burger delicious with a great spicy Mayo was enough for the two of us. I am a regular one cup of coffee person. Both of us thought the coffee was one of the best we had. Service and staff were excellent.
