Old Parliament House reviews
58Surprisingly good and interesting for both adults and children (11 and 9). Exhibits are interesting and hands-on ones are great. Both adults and kids could dress-up together which was a nice touch. Cafe is not bad for lunch or a snack.
A great place to visit. Helen and I walked all around the area and too a few photos to fill in our 2 hours fitness during Lockdown in Canberra.
Excellent experience. With self guided free access, you can explore the museum as you please. Going through the chambers and offices as if they were still active (in the 80's!) was a truly memorable experience. Make sure you plan enough time to visit as everything is interesting and can easily take a couple of hours.
Old Parliament House is a MUST SEE on your trip in Canberra. The building almost s talks to you as you move around well preserved relics and offices that transport you back in time! So much history, heritage and political flavour is seen, felt and almost heard on this visit!
Alot of history. Was here for a conference and the conference rooms we were in was marvellous steeped in history. Even the toilets couldn't help but feel if Menzies sat in the same concrete throne as I did. Catering was great and all of the staff was helpful and professional. Bravo
Pretty good experience and lots to look at. Definitely wurth having a look at. Good to see the luxury are politicians have over the years.
Now known as the Museum of Aust Democracy, we were surprised at all the fantastic exhibitions and displays. Really educational for everyone from primary school kids and older (we have 2 teen boys and they loved it. Could have spent many more hours there. A1 destination
The security guards out the front weren’t helpful at all- they just watched as I struggled to find a way in with the pram, then watched as I had to lift the pram up the stairs because the disabled access door was locked. Not cool.
The receptionist was lovely however and the exhibitions very educational, informative and well laid out.
I arrived to the museum and was greeted by a very helpful male staff member. I walked around for a while but the building did not come alive until I went on a 45 minute tour with Grame who was ever so knowledgeable about every detail, kind and interactive and very well-presented. He did a fantastic job.
Tour guides are awesome and you always learn a lot about the history of Australia. I would recommend this place for tourists.
Well worth the visit if you're in the area.just went to the national gallery.it's a good place for a coffee and a quick view around.
Fantastic museum. Only popped in to have a look and ended up spending almost 5 hours here. Well worth a look and a very interesting look at Australian political history.
Another of the must visit at Canberra. Allow at least hour and a half to do the hall building.
Loved the hole place full of memories of the past and how things were done.
The road to the prime minister chamber is great and really gets you inside the history.
Free 1hour parking and self guided tour available.
Enjoyable and informative self guided tour. Guided tours are available. While booking is available, people without bookings were welcome.
Good place to learn about history of politics in Australia. Friendly people all around the place.
Very interesting and educational to learn how Australia set up their government. Very young country. Very impressive.
Loved this place, will have to bring the family back for a history lesson. And I found our that Bob Hawke did in fact use Fanciful hair colour!
So much to see here, not just the building and the chambers, also behinds the scenes areas of the PM, different Parliament parties and staff. Informative and worthy of a visit
Museum is easy to navigate through with plenty of signs explaining the history as you go. Great entertainment areas for children. Well worth the visit for a wide variety of people.
I would not recommend the coffee shop out the front. Workers weren't sure what food they offered and were seemingly disgruntled.
Nostalgia for a few, de ja vu for the Millennials and ancient history for the younger generations. It's not the building (which is well maintained) but the contents preserved that matter.
The walkthrough in some of the areas were enlightening and reminded one of the gloomy days/ struggles taken to reach this point.
