National Zoo & Aquarium reviews
83Always improving and adding new things to wonder. Great place for kids and adults. Must visit for locals and tourists.
Who doesn't like zoos in general! But this one is an adventure of its own. The location, the people, service, amenities, and animals are an exciting dream. Staying at the lodge was complimented with a unique adventure tour and simply being around these majestic beasts is an experience in itself. The overnight stay inclusive of all delicate and selected variety of amenities is equally unique in experiencing the zoo. Highly recommended whilst visiting Canberra, make sure you organise a Jamala Lodge overnight stay!
Zoo is great. It is a long walk around if you follow the designated order, so don’t be afraid of cutting sections off. The kids area is amazing! So big and a great place for the kids to play.
What an amazing place. We did a zoo stay and it was amazing from start to finish. Would definitely do it again. You will not be disappointed.
Possibly the best zoo near Sydney.
Sure Taronga has nice views of the city, but the number of animals is underwhelming. Also while they take good care of the animals it feels Ḷiem they could use more space.
The National Zoo is beautiful in every way, from the lush trees and bushes to the intentional layout of the pathways catering to animal lovers of all ages. Worth the trip from Sydney for sure!
Great place for a weekend gateway. Well maintained. Beautifully planned and some really beautiful flora and fauna. Has an aquarium too.
My family visits to the zoo every months. My kids never gonna be bored. Always enjoyed.love this place
Had a great day this was the 2nd time there, the wife and I got there at 0930 left at 1400 just a wonderful place its a must see.
Is really a beautiful place to visit with family and friends. There's good restaurant to have lunch if you get tired.
Can also get a scooter for few $s if you can't walk around that much.
Fantastic place to visit. Highly recommended! Offers a different experience to Taronga Zoo (Mosman), Sydney Zoo and Dubbo Zoo. Yup, been to all those and still think it's very worthwhile. Like their numbering system whereby you get to see all exhibits if you follow the numbers. They have a great play area for the kids too that is definitely worth exploring. Zoo food and drinks (we tried Rhino Cafe) is decent, but of course at zoo prices. There are loads of picnic areas across the zoo if you wish to bring your own.
Tip: Bypass the crowds at Gate 1 (and Gate 2) and drive all the way to Gate 4 where you don't have to struggle for parking, nor queue to get in (there's an entrance/exit at Gate 4), nor jostle with the crowds since most start at the earlier gates.
Wonderful Zoo. Great enclosures with great display of animals, loved discovering a few Tigers, Cheetas, Giffaffe, Lions enclosures around the zoo. Not just 1 of each, several of each Rhino cafe had a good choice of options of hot food, drinks, ice creams etc.best I've seen for years & i travel for zoos.only let down no drink machines working (not stocked) long hot walk around the zoo, pack a drink or 3.its a close 2nd if not now my favourite zoo.
Brilliant place you get pretty close to lots of animals. The enclosures are amazing and it's set like a trail so you see it all. Easy to navigate with kids/prams/wheelchair. Limited food options tho esp if vegetarian.
So many animals to see! A wonderful zoo and set out very well. Easy to navigate around to see everything. Will be going back.
The new 4th entry is amazing for parents with kids. Enter directly into the playground area to burn some energy and build excitement about the animals before a short stroll to the encounters and enclosures. Very well designed and delivered experience. Would be five stars if the cafe had better catered for modern families by providing allergy advice for their menu.
The experiences here are amazing! Have stayed at jamala and met a cheetah. Keen to try other ones. Really personal and close experiences. Great gifts or special occasions.
Amazing day! The zoo was well kept and it was larger than expected. Will definitely visit again.
Amazing amazing amazing! Even in the heat the family has had a beautiful day with so much to see and do! The playground is a ripper and the kids had a blast!
The best zoo on Australia in my opinion.
The trails are shaded, animals well kept I especially liked tiger enclosure and adventure land.
Quite possibly one of the best zoo in Australia and trust me, we’ve been to plenty. The zoo is big with so many different animals and there are many viewing area from different angle or spot. There is a brand new playground near the Rhino cafe and there is also a mini aquarium attached to the zoo. You can get really close to all the animals and feed them if you want too.just remember to book this beforehand. There is also some area dedicated for dinosaurs lover. And different patting area across the zoo (you can pat llamas, deers, etc)! There are toilets and bin around the zoo and the ground are very pram friendly! The food in the cafe area is not bad, not the best, slightly overpriced, but hey, there really is no other options if you forgot to pack some lunch. There are a huge picnic area around the cafe and it’s surrounded by the rhino and cheetah enclosure. Highly recommended zoo!
Amazingly maintained and creatively managed all of the animals. You'd get to see some very exotic African creatures. We did a stay at Jamala Wildlife logde (Giraffe tree house), was an incredible experience.
