74Very nice place to have lunch and wander around. Free but paid parking. Can get busy on weekends.
Lovely spot for a bite to eat, a visit to see the Bonsai, fly a kite, go for a walk, biy gifts to send overseas or watch the sunset.
One of my favourite places to visit. Views from the cafe are amazing and the bonsai collection fantastic.
A great spot for a walk, bike ride, or just a coffee with a view.one of the best Canberra attractions
I had not been to this South Side of the arboretum before, and oh, what have I missed.
The grassy bowl had children playing, flying kites, running and laughing, it as wonderful to see and hear. And then the Bonsai exhibition is on the next level of enjoyment. Don't miss it, it is so special.
We had the cultural night arranged here as part of a Conference that we attended in Canberra. Beautiful place to host an event. Amazing food and great venue
Very pretty place.
I enjoyed walking through the Cork oak plantation, bonsai section
Wonderful place to visit and stroll around and to see all the trees and plants that have been planted. Building and surrounds are lovely. Great Cafe and eatery as well.
We had a nice walk there and the bonsai area garden also very well taken care of. Good for kids as well
Its a stunning place.with an amazing playground, lush green hills all around, it's a perfect place just outside the city.perfect for evenings and easy for social distancing during COVID times
Lovely scenic views!
Chill out at the Cafe while enjoying the beautiful views.
Admire the beautiful bonsai.
And enjoy a relaxing day, playing and running around
There's a playground for the kids to play as well.
Ps. Paid parking
Good views of Canberra basin and nearby mountains, but otherwise lacklustre as an attraction. The Bonsai collection had some decent exhibits, but also fairly average ones. Book store/souvenir shop has limited options. There is a unique play area, but not well monitored for social distancing and does not appear to be regularly sanitised. Very limited shade outside of buildings. If you're a visitor for a short stay, there are better scenic locations to visit. Paid parking is available, and goes towards conservation and restoration projects.
Always worth a visit. Spectacular views of Canberra. Fast becoming kite flying part of capital.
Awesome place Bonsai display wasn't open but still lovely landscape and plants all out in bloom
As a lover of all things arboreal this place and it’s devotion to the replanting of endangered trees, is just magical.
I drove to Dairy Farmer’s Hill, where there are plenty of parking spots, and walked over to the Amillary Sphere Sundial, the Nest sculpture (an enormous birds nest made of rusted old farm equipment), and took in the magnificent views of Canberra and Lake Burley Griffin.
On a nice day I highly recommend packing a picnic and spending a short while at this spot on one of the benches, as it is so peaceful and relaxing. A place to forget all your troubles.
The Arboretum has over 100 different trees which I have not had the time to explore it in its entirety but one day I hope to get around to.
Wow! What a wonderful experience. We spent a couple of hours just enjoying the Bonsai Display. The volunteers were very knowledgeable, helpful and eager to share their knowledge. Their passion and pride for their collection was only surpassed by their enthusiasm. Come early and stay for lunch. The view is spectacular. Kindest regards Mike Soric
Really cool place to hang out and explore. It’s so well manicured and kept. I especially loved the bonsai display.
Unfortunately, the day we went it was already closed by 4pm but we still did enjoy the view from the top.
Beautiful gardens, an award winning playground and views of much of Canberra make this a great place to go whether you’re a local or visitor.
There’s lots of walks so crowds aren’t an issue and in summer it’s just amazing.
Well worth a visit. A short drive from the National Zoo. Beautiful scenery, and the Pod Playground is very unique and fun for the kids. Note that at the highest point of the playground climbing structure, the only way down (rather than backtracking and going against traffic) is a rather steep spiral slide which may be a bit daunting for younger ones.
Saw people flying their kites in a nice open space. Would be good for scootering too.
