Iori Japanese Restaurant reviews
71 The atmosphere is that of a Japanese pub.
Order assorted tempura, kabayaki eel, and tataki beef, and drink beer and wine. All the food was delicious. The wine recommended was also delicious.
The chef sometimes tries to give us something as a service, but we were not very hungry so we declined.
The staff were also nice.
I have dined at this restaurant several times and have consistently found the food to be delicious and the service to be excellent. The restaurant has demonstrated remarkably consistent quality over time. However, my most recent visit had an unfortunate element that detracted from the overall experience.
Throughout our meal, the chef was loudly scolding staff members, speaking in a mix of English and Japanese. As a result, it was obvious to all diners that there was conflict occurring in the kitchen. This created an unpleasant ambient atmosphere that undermined the enjoyment of the dining experience. Despite this stress, the staff members continued delivering professional and attentive service.
The food quality remains superb and the staff are consistently friendly, helpful and professional. However, the aggressive way the chef addressed employees really marred the dining ambiance. While ensuring quality is important, there are more constructive ways to communicate that do not compromise customer satisfaction or staff morale. I hope the chef will reflect on how their behavior impacts the restaurant environment and seeks a more positive approach. When dining out, part of the experience is the comfortable mood created, and this could be improved.
Food was so yummy, the steak, sushimi, eel roll, tofu, etc were just divine. Their hospitality was amazing. The chef sent us complimentary drink, food and birthday dessert. It made my day ver special. Arigato
Food by Sydney standard is far below average. Ingredients not fresh (Thursday night)
Service is okay considering the restaurant is quite busy during peak dining hours.
Smell of an antique shop in there, not pleasant
What an incredible place to eat at! The staff were so lovely and gave us complimentary dishes also! Such a surprise. Will definitely recommend this restaurant to others! Thanks a lot!
It's always so lovely to go here! The food are exceptional, the place is very clean, the staff are lovely and the overall ambience is calming and welcoming.
Fantastic experience of both food and service especially from the head chef/owner. Bento Box was really good and the sashimi on the side was well worth it.
Great restaurant. I wish they still opened for lunch. Always great food and friendly staff.
Service was outstanding with a lovely Japanese feel. Food was exquisite. Depth of flavours and piquancy of taste.for an old gal who don't get out much, a banquet meal with my sister at Iori defeated any expectation.
What an outstanding experience Iori is. From the beautiful presentation of each item in each course, to the gorgeous taste, the impeccable service and the rich atmosphere Iori is a must.
Great customer service and atmosphere. However, the food is not great. Not many sushi options, marinade eel is definitely from the produced one. Soggy fries.
I'm sorry but If you liked their food you didn't have good Japanese yet.
Had the perfect birthday dinner here with friends and we really could not fault it. Vegan banquet was amazing and such great value for what we received. Table was full of dishes and they just kept coming! Birthday song and mochi ice cream balls were a nice surprise and all the staff were lovely. I would go back here in a heartbeat!
Very nice delicious food. The staff were very nice, friendly and attentive to customers. I’m not surprised why they are busy on Wednesday night. Excellent place for Japanese food.
Our favourite restaurant in Canberra. Staff are always friendly and attentive.
Food is fresh and delicious.
Atmosphere is quite good and the menu has lots of options. The price for the food quality is acceptable. The taste is not outstanding but not bad.
Food was delicious. Loved all the entrees in the banquet and LOVED the dessert platter with 3 little sweet morsels - my favourite type of dessert is a bite of everything. Drinks were also fab and they gave us some complimentary birthday sake. What a treat?
Classic Canberra date night restaurant. And the vegan banquet is epic and soooooo much food. The service here is always super attentive. Only sad thing is that the dessert menu only has one vegan thing and its alcoholic so we can't partake. But would love it if they experimented with a vegan mochi ice cream or something! Still love this place heaps.
My child wanted to celebrate her birthday at a Japanese restaurant and so happy I took her here. It was a beautiful experience! The chef and the staff are wonderful and the food was perfect. The customer service is the best, they really care about everyone having a good time and enjoying. Thank you Iori for making it a memorable day for us
The food in a gastronomic delight with incredible a d respectful service. We arerepeat customers as the food brings us joy and the wait staff are helpful and not intrusive.
Food quality has gone down since we first came a year ago: (The wagyu steak is dry, slightly tasteless and chicken teriyaki tastes just like any cheaper Japanese takeaway. It is definitely not worth the price.
