I travel a bit each year to Canberra, and whilst I’ve stayed at other hotels, I still find myself coming back here. Everything is well kept, it’s understated luxury without being over the top. The staff are attentive and friendly and the king suites which I usually stay in are roomy and well appointed.

Chifly’s Restaurant is probably one of the better in-house places I’ve dined at, the slow cooked lamb shoulder is my pick from the menu as a main. The pork belly entree is equally as fantastic, just don’t let the fresh chilli scare you off - it’s the right amount of heat without trying to kill you.

The room’s are quiet, even with people coming and going through the start and end of the day, you won’t notice it too much.

Definitely a place to stay when in Canberra!

Hotel Kurrigong is a beautiful Motel. The staff are welcoming the heritage aspect is great. I know this because I work there. The gardens are beautiful. Great for weddings or any events.

I had wanted to make a booking for this hotel but when I called, the receptionist is INCREDIBLY RUDE for hanging up on me, and when i called back, she just shrug it off saying she has to serve another customer and don't want to answer my questions? Am i not your customer too? Please check the roster for 14-08-23 at around 12: 30pm for this Receptionist. I am no longer going to book in your hotel because of this and will be putting up a Negative Review online and in social media.

Perfect location for access to Menzies House and the National Press Club. The restaurant is fine, service is very good. Parking is easy and the suites are very comfortable.

We had a wonderful stay here! The staff is super nice and super helpful. The breakfast (which was included in our room rate) was outstanding. A big shout out to Rayatun at reception, who ran the extra mile for us! Will definitely come back here to stay.

From the moment we arrived at this historical hotel, we were blown away by the warm and welcoming staff. Coupled with the stunning architecture and fascinating history, it's a true must-visit destination.

Went mid week as prices are very competitive. Can’t fault hotel or staff. One note when you order breakfast with fried eggs you have to say overly easy not sunny side down otherwise you get sunny side up. Happened twice in a row not a big problem staff are excellent and they have just installed large screen smart TVs in every room.

By far the worst hotel experience we have ever had and we have travelled to third world countries. We tried to call the hotel before we arrived about 4 times and no one picked up and no voicemail options. First night the staff were extremely noisy until midnight due to some event. Second night, a family arrived at 11pm and proceeded to run up and down the corridors like hooligans while adults were banging the doors and furniture. At 12am we couldn't do it anymore, tried to call reception on the room phone then realised there's no number or instructions to do so. Tried to call the landline and went dead. Proceeded to the reception and could not see a worker in sight. We are lucky we managed 3 hours sleep. When we checked out this morning, we expressed our concerns to the receptionist who just stared at us. The rooms are not well renovated and for a four star hotel, I would at least expect a doona cover. Not just the doona by itself. For a heritage hotel, it was shameful. We do not recommend this hotel and would give zero stars if we could.

Currently staying here
The bed is so uncomfortable. The room and especially bathroom smells of urine. The shower has built up scum. Very disappointed for this over priced accommodation. The staff are friendly though

We were married in September 2022 at Hotel Kurrajong, after a year of planning with Michaela.
It was a beautiful and picturesque day, filled with love and joy, followed by a rock and roll celebration. The venue was absolutely magical, and allowed us to decorate and vibe to suit us.
Michaela was with us every step of the way, much like a fairy godmother, trying her absolute darnedest to grant our wishes!
We stayed two nights in the bridal suit, and were able to get ready in the suit also!
The food was absolutely to die for, the drinks were flowing and it was a day/night that we will never forget.
Thank you so much to Michaela & Hotel K for being so gracious, from start to finish. We so appreciate it

Home away from home, in easy reach of just about everything (ok, needing good walking shoes to reach the shopping district!)

Hotel Kurrajong is an iconic institution in Canberra, which housed many politicians, public servants and international visitors. I fondly remember walking in the hallways to read commemorative pictures of the stay of historic figures such as the two late Australian Prime Ministers Ben Chifley and Gough Whitlam, and the late Queen Elizabeth II. In this model of Canberra original architectural style, one finds a welcoming lounge with a fireplace, a very good terrasse restaurant named after Chifley, and a beautiful garden. The rooms are spacious and renovated to modern taste. The hotel is located in the historic centre of Canberra, within 20 min walk from Parliament and the train station. It is also well connected to the CBD and the rest of the ACT as many transit lines stop in front of the hotel. The staff is courteous and keen to help you make the most of your trip in Canberra. I very much enjoyed my stay in Canberra and Hotel Kurrajong, and I enthusiastically recommend it if you are looking for a hotel in Canberra.

Great historical boutique hotel in the government district of Canberra. Rooms were nicely done, comfortable and quiet. It's either a long walk or an Uber ride to restaurants, etc. Otherwise, fantastic service and a perfect location for exploring the federal parts of Australia's capital.

Service in the restaurant continues to be incredibly slow. Have to constantly flag down staff for drinks service, water etc, drinks take ages to arrive. Food is average, not what you'd expect for the price.

Just a delightful hotel to stay at! Our 3rd visit, the Kurrajong continues to fit the bill with its old world historic charm, oversized rooms and very friendly staff. Spotlessly clean, great pillows and linen, perfect AC and strong wifi.

We stay for the charm and comfort, not glitz and glamor. This is a subtly stylish hôtel many may not appreciate - for a warm experience (and in a sensational location) one cannot go past Hotel Kurrajong!

I love this hotel. It is our go to when we come to ACT priced fairly and nice rooms only issue was the heating didn’t work and had to request for extra blankets as there was none in the room but other than that had no issues and can’t wait to stay again

Update: we have since stayed a few more times and has been better each time other than the other guests complaining about our 2 little ones laughing and having fun at 9am!

Pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Lovely period building, refurbished (small) rooms. Fabulous breakfast at Chifley's. Sunny courtyard. Reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
