This was the best steak I had ever had in Canberra. Perfectly cooked. Very expensive, but perfectly cooked.

Best steaks! You will not want to go anywhere else in Canberra after this. Super juicy and delicious. Can also order fresh oysters. Friendly, helpful and attentive staff. Little bit more costly but we'll worth it! May need to book in advance.

Medium rare 350g Scotch Fillet with Dianne sauce.

Great wine selection and very attentive wait staff.

Has that premium cosy modern Australian restaurant feel.

Meal was great. Steak was cooked as requested. Seating was a little uncomfortable but managed ok.

We know this restaurant well often going there for our son's birthday over the years. I had a meal with my son and his partner during March recently, before the shutdown. The entrees were superb. My reef and beef main was just great. The young waitress was very professional. Washed down with some Wynns Coonawarra Cab Sav. Fantastic. Thank you team for a great night. Always a high standard here. We hope you will be back. If you are, we will be.

I was recently taken to Charcoal Restaurant after walking past it for many years, the decor is reminiscent of the old days, leather and wood chairs, rattan-esk light shades and wine stocked shelves. The food, while basic in concept, it's fantastic! We've been back twice in as many weeks and would love to make it my local. The Cajun steak is the best steak I've ever had and the chocolate mousse is definitely a favourite. It's pricey but definitely worth it!

Ordered steaks for 3.2x MEDIUM and 1x MEDIUM RARE. The waitress came with the food and served 2 of us and one was left with nothing for couple of mins until the 3rd came. I don't know why you wouldn't serve the table at once?

We ordered Dianne and Mushroom sauces, The mushroom sauce was runny and cold.

The MEDIUM steak was red and raw in the middle, The MEDIUM RARE was cooked better than the MEDIUM steak.

Garlic bread serving is only 2 small pieces.

One out our 3 knives was blunt, please sharpen your knives. This is always missed by all restaurants.

The owner was very apologetic & lovely but im sorry, my experience at your restaurant was very bad that i lost my appetite.

10/10 to the owner and how lovely she was and apologetic however as with any business, staff are the face and name of any business (its what makes any business), if you cant get staff in line with quality you expect and have quality checks/control before serving to patrons then this falls on the owner.

Very average. Over priced. You can get a steak that good for half the price at the hotel down the road. Decor is terrible.

I don't mind paying $56 for a steak. But then it better be good. Here at Charcoal today: underwhelming steaks, and dishes overall put together pretty lovelessly. Honestly, a good pub serves better ware.

The only reliably exceptional steak in canberra with a great winelist. Wonderfully thorough but never overbearing service.

I had booked, got a tiny seat to fit 6 that was next to the service door. The staff then argued after being told this wasnt acceptable. Save the trouble just go to mezzalira next door or anywhere else. I have had a steak here, and it is great, but the customer service is abysmal.

Great steak, fairly pricey for all meals. Quality of food is exquisite. Homemade gravy, steak comes with jacket potato and steamed seasonal veggies. Host was lovely. HUGE selection of red wines, also quite pricey. If u dont mind paying a bit for perfect steak go here. You wont be disappointed:)

WOW! This restaurant just rocks a steak. We were there on Friday and Maia our waitress was awesome, the food was fantastic and our evening was just perfect.

I'd recommend you book as the place fills up. I had sizzling prawns in a butter sauce for entree - be sure to get some garlic bread to soak up the sauce and steak Diane for main. My steak was perfectly cooked no one at our table had any issues.

This is one of my favourite places for a steak and will be back again soon.

Best steak I've had in my life followed by an amazing sticky date pudding. Staff were also great and the atmosphere cozy but not uncomfortable.

The prime rib is an absolute pleasure, it was cooked perfectly and melts in your mouth. I walked for 20 minutes on a 38 degrees trying to burn calories before having my steak. I guess I have to walk for another hour to digest this 500g meat. The staff are lovely and definitely will recommend to my friends and colleagues. It is my first time to try the berneise sauce I hope I spelled it correctly and it compliments the taste of the beef.

Excellent steak, would definitely come here again. Came with side vegetables and baked potato. Steak cooked perfectly at medium rare.

Just not my thing. Sure the steaks are flavorsome but mine was under cooked, for the price and the fact that this is their specialty it was disappointing. Dark and drab. No need to go twice

Best steak I've ever had in Canberra! Loved the quiet atmosphere, the nice ambient lighting and service was fantastic.

Poorly cooked steak. Entrees good, fish good. Fillet steak more well done, not med-rare. Fillet gristly. Never again. Very disappointed.
