Canberra Heart Clinic reviews
13Very good, knowledgable and easy to understand diagnoses. Well explained treatment and good follow up via email.
Had a great experience with friendly staff. Dr Allada was very knowledgeable and was very calming and personable.
From reception, to sonographer and finally with Dr Allada, my experience was superb. I was attended to and taken right in on time. All the staff members were nice, with smiles on their face, the sonographer was very helpful. Dr Allada explained the findings. Keep the good work.
A year on after seeing these people but they couldn't pick up signs of very clear tachycardia, I had to get a second opinion to confirm and thankfully I did. Staff were rude and terrible at customer service. But most importantly - we went there to get help and medical advice, however either they have no idea, or they missed some very clear information on the imaging. Dangerous either way. Only providing 1 star as it is the lowest rating - although deserves no stars.
I wouldn’t recommend this place. We were kept waiting extensively, with zero communication. I found some of the reception staff to be quite dismissive and rude. Dr Ala Mustafa was fine but I think he needs to reconsider how he takes on patients because I don’t believe it was a very streamlined process at all.
Admin staff and nurses were kind and patient. Absolutely lovely to chat with.
Dr Allada, however, was dismissive and didn't explain the findings. My heart stopped during a surgery and I was referred to find out why.
Over 4 appointments and a lot of money, I saw him for 10 minutes on the final trip.
I tried to tell him I had a family history of cardiomyopathy - he cut me off and told me "family history doesn't matter for this", but not why. He read my fathers pacemaker discharge papers as mine, told me a Holter monitor I wore found nothing and told me I am young so it is fine.
My GP has since explained there was a dip on the readings and referred me elsewhere to have it explained.
This is a scary experience, and all I wanted was someone to help me understand why it happened.
Dr Quinton Yang and team were reassuring, friendly and always aware of the added stress of driving four hours each way for an appointment. Very professional and happy to be a patient of this clinic.
Dr Khan took time to explain what I had, what he looked for. & didn't find, i.e. He gave me very good news, that I was fine as long as I took better care of myself. No meds required.
Staff in Canberra were terrific & very efficient.
Dr Khan is a kind & realistic man.
Can not recommend Dr Kalam highly enough, during my consultation I didn’t feel like a numbered patient, I felt like a person he’d known for years, and his manner was like talking to a real person not just a doctor. The reception girls are AMAZING, so caring and so warm and welcoming. Can not thank everyone enough:)
I am an enthusiastic supporter of Heart of Canberra.
The reception staff are friendly AND efficient.
Dr Khan is an expert who is very determined to achieve the best possible result for his patient; he is caring and quite clear in describing various procedures.
Dr Kalam is a very focussed and careful specialist who constantly moves beyond the obvious in considering his diagnosis of given symptoms - a real gem.
I am an 82 year old who has moved from being in danger of an unexpected cardiac event to one who is now enjoying life with his wife, children and grandchildren. I will be forever grateful to Drs Kalam and Khan for their swift and successful treatment of my health problems.
Not a pleasant experience. The staff ring you and are really pushy if are not in attendance 15 mintues before your appointment time. Dr Nowakowski is the complete modern day super nerd - very lacking in any personal skills or the ability to speak in non medical nerd terminology. The real kicker is he dictates his letter to your Doctor in front of you. Which I found completely lacking in patient consideration and almost robotic!
I arranged and took my 90yo mother to see Dr Kris Nowakowski for a follow up after seeing him at a different location 2yrs ago.
I had to arrange the appointment from Sydney where I live and try and fit it into my available times. The reception staff went to great lengths to make it work for us and for this I am very grateful - we managed to have both the initial test and the follow up consultation on the same day (due to a serendipitous cancellation allowing staff to contact me to offer us the slot) at quite short notice
The Echo was done efficiently (on time!). In the follow up appt Dr Kris was attentive and thorough, answered all our questions and reassured my mother who is prone to being over-anxious especially with regard to health (she's done OK so far!)
Love the coffee machine in the waiting room (in case you do have a longer wait.)
I was most surprised to read of a patient’s perceived negative experience with Dr Nowakowski and his staff. I attended the clinic for a stress test two weeks ago. The staff were efficient and friendly and Dr Kris was knowledgeable and clear in his explanation. He was very approachable, even joking that l should get a plaque for doing so well in the test. I found his practice of dictating the letter to the GP in front of us transparent and helpful, allowing me to clarify things on the way through.
