cafe d'lish reviews
30I often go over there but there is a one woman she talked to me like talk to trash. Made me hurry to order and Cleary show her frustration and somehow she had completely different friendly attitude to the lady after me. I am Asian and other customer lady after me was white, and I was watching this store woman for a while and she seems like treating other white people nicely and had very bad attitude to all other Asian people. I think she should not be there, her attitude is completely wrong. Next time when I go over there and had same treatment from this staff woman, I will show her face picture in here with her name.
Food was nice as always.
Had coffee there before and it's great.
Just one staff member was even more rude than usual today.
Went with my partner and after about 10seconds of looking at the menu the lady serving, with a rude tone of voice, said "Let me know when ya ready to order" The tone wasn't nice, but the statement was fine. However, after another 5 seconds she angrily said "What do you want? - We're closing up the sandwiches soon. So if you want one you have to order now! " So my partner felt hurried to choose and settled with an option. I ordered mine and the lady spoke to me kindly and offered a bread suggestion. But, when my partner ordered the lady rudely again said "what bread ya want? "
After finishing our order about 5-6 other people came in and she was kind to all of them, never mentioned closing the sandwiches to them and didn't harass them to make a decision.
I'm caucasian as were the other 5-6 people. My partner is asian, and it just felt like very projected negativity towards her.
This service makes the whole experience worse because your conversation while eating ends up being about how rude the staff was and how unfair they were to just one person.
Best iced coffee in Canberra! Food is absolutely delicious. It's one of my favorite lunch places.
Would recommend.
Went this morning to get some breakfast and coffee. The lady from the counter was looking at me like I was there for free food. Rolling her eyes on me. She didn’t even gave me a chance to look what I want. She asked me in a rudely manner what do I want? I said coffee and she was like coffee what? It’s it her responsibility to ask it kindly what type of coffee costumer wants and describe the options?
I said cappuccino and she didn’t even asked me regular or large or anything just showed me one cup and is this one you want? She was so rude I didn’t feel like responding and said ok. She didn’t ask if I am having there or taking away.
I was sitting on the chair inside, saw another lady was serving everyone’s coffee at the table for me they just left it on the counter and asked me to collect.
I will never go back to this place or recommend anyone.
Everyone wanted to be treated respectfully.
I hope you will learn some more good manners and will be nice to others.
Great vanilla slice but half the size than what you would expect yet the same price as anywhere else.
Today my husband bought two sandwiches from this cafe while I waited out the front in the car. I saw another customer collect two sandwiches, open them up and touch them, only to realise she had been given the wrong order (our order). She took them back, and I watched the waitress wrap the same sandwiches back up and hand them to my husband. We are in the middle of a pandemic with 5000 covid cases in Canberra. I’m pregnant and immunocompromised. Both sandwiches had been touched by a stranger with unwashed hands. We didn’t say anything, didn’t eat the sandwiches. Won’t be back.
Application to make Cafe D'Lish a Tangible Cultural Heritage Treasure with the UN. Old school cafes like this are a dying breed and must be preserved at all costs- where else can you take your nan? Certainly not to the neighbours joint with slick teenagers bringing out avocado toast (which I like too). No, you need to take Pop to D'Lish for a proper brown bread sandwich and a hot cappuccino and friendly staff calling you "love". It was my fondest wish to get a chance to take my own grandma here before she passed, and while she couldn't make it, I love coming here and seeing all the people of similar ages enjoying their sandwiches. I hope I get to have my own grannies take me here one day. Long live D'Lish!
Food is average. Portion sizes do not align with pricing at all, very expensive! I paid $17 for a smoothie that came in a small cup and just a basic salad sandwich.
Great coffee, superb service, very friendly and efficient. Great for cyclists. COVID safe, generous and happy family team.
Reliable good healthy home made style food. I hadn't been there for 2 years. And the menu was the same. And everything tastes just as flawless as it always did. The staff are all long standing aswell. Great service. Good barista. Greater food
Poor service eating food while pulling a coffee and I asked if they have a brekkie deal and said no $11 for the bacon and egg and $5 for a medium coffee please.
Most expensive in Canberra I would say.
If you liked rubbery eggs and then microwaved that hot that you burn the roof of your mouth then you will like it.
The coffee I ask for a flat white it was about two-thirds full and said can you please top it up as she open the coffee and it was all full of froth.
If you love fresh eggs and cooked properly and like your eggs a bit soft and runny then don't go here. Definitely won't be back. Biggest rip off
I don't mind paying for quality but when you get ripped off like this it's a kick in the guts especially during Lockdown time double whammy.
Worst Vanilla Slice in the town. $5.20 for a small piece that falls away if you try to lift it up to eat overpriced used to be a good slice won't be going there any more
The service was very bad the sandwich was cold I asked if they heated it they wanted to charge me extra at the end they heated it up but in the microwave leaving all the vegetables hot
Good food but poor service.
Was asked to wait outside in a cold winter morning, saying “there’s too many people here”However, the COVID restrictions have been lifted already and the place wasn’t even half seated.
Past employer who held my superannuation for 2 years and never paid me out.
2 years later, after back and forward messages and a threat to reach out to the ATO he folded and paid me out.
Izzy as an employer does not treat his staff well and is deflective and unapologetic even after he has been proven wrong.
Wonderful staff. Beautiful coffee and yummy food. Fruit mince pies are the best this time.of year.
Best Vanila Slice in the town.
In the vanila slice, they have pastry, cream, pastry, cream then pastry, instead of the simple way of pastry and cream then pastry. Appreciate the effort and the taste.
Staff was so rude. It was Asian lady, she was giving my reaction when I ask her to add three sauces. When I requested to toasted she was like you need to tell me before and I told her that it’s my first time in the cafe to order so I expect them to guide me by asking whether to have it toasted or fresh. And the lady behind asked me aggressively: you want it toasted? I said yes please.
Worst customer experience.
Great coffee, sandwiches are very expensive and not very generous with fillings. But decent quality nonetheless.
Consistently delicious coffee and pastries. Don’t be fooled by the super low key aesthetic, their pies, muffins and vanilla slice are amongst the best in the region. Staff are lovely. Be warned though, they love making barely enough of their most popular items and routinely run out of them before 2pm.
